Review of Texaco

Easy petrol
This petrol station has just had a big refurb, meaning that it's now got a Somerfield attached. Petrol's not too expensive, it's easy to get into and get out of, and that's pretty much all you need.

Review of Coffee Republic

Good addition to Holdenhurst Road
It's smart in here, they're keen to help and there's good coffee. This place hasn't been around for long - it's up next to Subway - so if you haven't tried it, it's worth popping in. Friendly people and good surroundings.

Review of Castlepoint Shopping Park
14 Apr 08, 14:18
Great range
Well laid-out and easy to navigate at a glance, the range of shops at Castlepoint is excellent. It might take you a while to park on a busy day, but there's a whole shopping experience waiting for you as soon as you're ready to go.

Review of 1812
14 Apr 08, 14:10
Elegance and class
If you are bored of neon lit super bars with girls aloud on loop then 1812 is the place for you. Cocktails to die for at prices that won't force you to call for an extension to the overdraft every time you fancy more sex on the beach. Classy decor, soft lighting, friendly and talented bar staff, people worth talking to and jazz on tap. Plus if you fancy something to eat before you luxuriate in the plush surroundings, 1812 has its own restaurant that has wonderful food too. You will find this gem across the road from the BIC just metres from Bournemouth's famous sandy beaches.

Review of Costa

Central Bournemouth cafe
This is a good, standard Costa with quick service and their normal range of snacks and pastries, it doesn't get too busy so you'll probably find a table at most times of the day.

Review of Trouville Hotel

Fine and reasonably priced
This is run by the same company as the Tralee down the road, it's a well-run hotel with good staff and reasonably priced, a decent place to stay if you need a hotel in Bournemouth.

Good value
This is just down the road from the Marriott Highcliffe and considering how much cheaper it is, it's good value. The staff will be happy to see you, it's got a good bar and if you're just looking for somewhere fairly smart to base yourself, this will do the trick.

Review of Bournemouth Marriott Highcliff Hotel

Good traditional service
This is the main hotel they use when the party conferences come to Bournemouth, and if you like your hotels big, old-fashioned and luxurious, this is a good place to come. It'll cost a fortune, though!

Review of De Vere Royal Bath
11 Apr 08, 21:57
Great quality hotel in the heart of Bournemouth
Perfectly situated for the beach and for the shops, the Royal Bath has been one of the best hotels in Bournemouth for a very long time. It's great inside, good service and they'll take care of your car as well.

Review of The Cumberland

Great refit
The Cumberland got a makeover a couple of years ago and it's great inside now, it's all themed in an Art Deco style, the bars are all great and the rooms are fine and reasonably priced.

A regular newsagents and corner shop
If you're just popping in for something you've run out of, or you need a paper or some chewing gum, this place (by the radio station) is fine.

Review of Zizzi

A decent place
We were waiting at the door for what seemed like ages before someone came to find us a table, and the whole thing feels a bit like a chain, which of course it is, but if you need feeding and you're nearby, this place is as good as any.

Good place for lunch
This is a great place for lunch, if your meeting someone for business or just getting together with friends. Really helpful service, and a decent menu at fair prices, with good food at the end of it.

Review of Prezzo
11 Apr 08, 20:51
Great
The only bad thing about this place is you can't find the front door. Well, I couldn't. But once you're inside, it's got the great atmosphere, menu and service you'll expect from a Prezzo if you've ever tried any of their chains, anywhere else in the country.

Great bookshop
Borders is just a brilliant bookshop and this is an excellent branch. If you love books then once you're inside, you could be there all day.

It's a Halfords. It's fine.
A big store, plenty of parking, not too busy and open till late. If you're in the area, and you need a Halfords, well here it is.

Review of Waterstones Booksellers

Books at Castle Point
The Waterstones at Castle Point has got a cafe attached to it at the back, it's a got a huge range of the latest books and you're sure to get sidetracked in there for ten minutes, even if you just pop in for a second. Great bookshop.

Review of West Beach Restaurant

By the sea
Come here when someone else is paying. It's really nice, right down by the beach with great views out over the sea, spacious and airy with good service and a lot to choose from.

Review of The Print Room Brasserie
10 Apr 08, 17:19
Stylishly upmarket
This place takes its name from the fact that it's in what used to be part of the Bournemouth Echo. The bar's a good place for a drink (standy for the credit card to take a pounding, though) and the food and service in the restaurant is excellent.

Not cheap, but good
Brace yourself because it's a bit pricey in here, but if you can afford it (or someone else is paying) it's worth it for the views and for the excellent atmosphere and good service.

Review of Flying Coffee Bean
10 Apr 08, 14:04
Grab a quick coffee
There's more competition on the Holdenhurst Road for cafes than there used to be but the Flying Coffee Bean is still a good bet. Friendly service, good coffee.

Review of Central Dry Cleaners
09 Apr 08, 16:44
All you need from a dry cleaners
Central Dry Cleaners (not far from Staples) are quick, reliable and helpful, they'll do alterations, and there's a key-cutting place built into the same shop.
