Review of Iceland

Poor
Have you ever played the game 'I Have Never'?
Well, 'I Have Never ... had a good shopping experience in Iceland....' Now this night be a little harsh as I have only been there a couple of times (on recommendation I hasten to add), but this place is grim - and as for the Kerry Katona adverts... On reflection, I can't believe i even went there. I couldn't even bring myself to buy any of the frozon food on the 'ads - as it was just too cheap - if that's possible. I suppose it might be OK at Christmas for BOGOF Cheese Footballs and Mini-Cheddars but that is about it.
Anyway see for yourself - or don't if this review is anything to go by!

Review of Bristol Trade Centre

Lots of cars, even MORE salesmen
Ok, I know they have a job to do, but what is with the salesmen? I want to have a good old look around with the wife and try to engage her in the excitement of buying HER a new car and all we get is one hungry salesman after another asking what were looking for .... I can see the damn cars - they're right in front of me - If I need help, i will ask.... Anyway, have been there a couple of times now and received the same 'quality of service' - My wife hates it - I just thought it was annoying.
In defence of BTC, they have got a lot of cars to choose from, it's just the commission hungry salesmen that put us off

Review of Gianni

Who's for the Chop?
A real Men's Barber shop - plenty of banter, fast service, reasonably priced (about £11), oh and a good haircut too! However, if you want to be a wall flower, sit in the corner and not communicate - you may have problems at Gianni's.
Gianni and his brother Franco love to talk to (and sometimes at) you, so be prepared to talk back - usual stuff - work, holidays, football, girls, cars etc - nothing too taxing. Overall it's a good barber experience.

Review of Makro

Cash & Carry (if you can)
There's not really a lot you can say about a Cash & Carry - they have a pretty large range of bulk sale products covering all areas from Fruit Salads and Black Jacks to industrial style Barbecues and Power tools - just make sure that you remember to add on the VAT where applicable otherwise you may get a nasty shock at the tills

It's a pretty big investment
As far as Estate Agents go, these guys aren't bad - They seemed to be pretty honest and sold our somewhat unusual house in a pretty flat market. We were happy with the service and would recommend them to a friend.

Review of The Gordano Gates

Plastic Fantastic
Not a bad pub sitauted on the main road into Portishead from Bristol. The drinks are as you would expect and the food is alright - nothing special but alright for a quick bite (they had 2 main meals for £9 offer when we went during the day recently - that made it a worthwile trip alone!) Best part is a huge indoor kids play area catering for children of most ages - you can either sit in with them (and risk getting hit by flying plastic objects!) or sit behind a big glass panel and enjoy a nice pint of Magners in peace!

Review of Tilly Tomlinson Flowers

Stunning florist
Yep, this is the place for stunning flower arrangements in Bristol. You can't beat Tilly and helpful team - They even make you feel at ease when 'trying' to explain what you think you want. Takeaway there and then or order for delivery by phone, the quality of service is second to none - order by mid-morning and they can usually be delivery that afternoon (best check with them first!)
Boys - score a few Brownie points with the other half - a £20 colourful hand-tied bouquet always goes down an absolure treat - especially if you're not apologising for something!!!

Review of Ikea

Anyone for meatballs?
What is it with Ikea? You know exactly what's gonna happen each time - everything costs 79p but by the time you get through the check out you get a bill for £480 - how come?
Still the furniture's pretty good, the Meatballs are great (so long as you get the hot ones) and it's pretty convenient - just don't go at the weekend .... NO WAY HOSÉ - that's the easiest way to ruin a prefectly good weekend and have an arguement with the wife at the same time!

Review of Thai Elephant

Great Thai food
Well impressed with this small Thai restaurant and takeaway in Portishead - It is a little bit pricey as a takeaway, but then Thai takeaways generally are. The food is great and you add to the authenticity of a real Thai takeaway by collecting your food from the rear of the restaurant, in the car park - a bit strange the first time but nothing untoward!

Review of St Ives Bay Holiday Park

The Great British Holiday
Not having stayed in a Caravan Park since I was a small child, i didn't really know what to expect from a static caravan holiday with my wife and 6 month old daughter... Well, we had a great time - The facilities on the Caravan Park were pretty good actually - a heated pool, bar and restaurant, on-site shop, plenty of open spaces and a short walk from the beach. The location of the Park is also fantastic for visiting all parts of Cornwall and is a must if you are venturing that far from home. We spotted a couple of downsides - Firstly the caravan was pretty cold at night (probably to be expected) so wrap up warm and take plenty of blankets for the little ones, and secondly we think it would be really busy peak season - It was quite manageable early May when we went, however double or triple the guests and you might struggle for peace and quiet
