Fantastic 4*

Albeit expensive, this restaurant is well worth it.

Amazing Indian cuisine - brilliantly spiced and fantastic tasting. There is so much to chose from on the menu it is hard to decide - but it all looked great.

The cocktails are fantastic as well... so try to goto the bar before to try them out.

Great cakes! 3*

This place has been around for years and although part of a chain still has an individual feel.

Great for breakfast, brunch or lunch and also amazing cakes to take away (or eat in).

The service is quite short - but it is is fast and good, so don't be put off.

Review of Prince Regent

Good pub food 3*

A recently refurbished pub that offers good standard pub food... but don't expect it to be much more than that.

A nice spot though for a drink and some food, well decorated and a good atmosphere.

Slow food service 3*

This place serves good food with a nice varied menu but the service is quite slow. If you are prepared to wait (and I mean wait) then a definite place to visit, but I think the size of the kitchen makes the speed of food service quite slow. We went on a Tuesday when it was not even half full. Friends we were with pre-warned us of this as it is apparently the norm, but they were also keen to go as the food is good.

Review of The Old Bank Hotel

Fantastic hotel 4*

This hotel has a great location in the centre of the city which does mean that it is one of the more expensive hotels in Oxford.

Oxford seems to lack from moden hotels - and this is one of the few, but it is very good.

With really nice rooms, great service and parking behind the hotel I would highly recommend this place.

Review of Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel

Hotel is okay 3*

But it is now a bit tired and dated. I stayed there a couple of years ago, so they might well have had a refurb by now, but when I stayed it was a bit stuck in the past and did not look like anyone had spent any money on it for quite a few years.

I am afraid to say that it felt a bit like a retirement home.

Review of Skylon

Great find 4*

I was recently taken here and I have to say that I was very impressed - what a hidden gem this is.

It has the most amazing views of London (think Oxo Tower) and food for a reasonable price.

I would agree that the view does a lot for this place and makes up for the food which is good but not outstanding.

I would definietly recommend this place though and will be returning.

Review of Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel

New hotel... 3*

... which means nice clean and well thought out rooms. The hotel is actually very nice and has a good spa/pool/gym which is great.

There is a restaurant next door (called the Boat House) which does good food if you don't want to eat in the hotel.

On the down side... there are no mini-bars which is a bit annoying and anything you request from room service (anything I say) incurs a £5 'delivery' charge - is that a joke?? Although to be fair they do warn you when you order. The internet speed at the hotel is also at best slow...

Overall though - good service, great clean rooms and a good spa.

Review of John Lewis

Great for service 4*

All of my experiences of John Lewis have been good - with great service in a traditional old fashioned way. It is a definite favorite with Mum's

It is not great for anything like clothing, fashion etc, but for anything electrical where you need good customer service, guarantees and reliable deliveries then it is the place to go.

Review of Selfridges

Amazing for clothes 5*

Selfridges is just the best - for clothes at least. For most other things then I think you are better off going to John Lewis down the road as they offer better service and information.

However for clothing for men you just can't beat it. You'll always find something, but you do have to be a bit patient and it is best to try and avoid the crowds that build up after 1pm on a Sat and Sunday.

The choice and range of brands make this my first (and generally only) point of call when I am out clothes shopping.
