Review of Jet

Basic garage 2*

A basic garage wth a shop which sells sweets and booze only and not cheap booze either it all seems very pricey but it is open 24 hours for those needing a midnight drink.

There is a cash machine on site but it is a charging one. Petrol is well priced but this garage is not a place I visit much only been there a few times in four years as it is one the busy Old Kent Road it must appeal to passing trade.

Review of Sainsburys Filling Stations

Well priced petrol 3*

A station on a busy road out of London which always has a good price on it's petrol. The quality may not be that good but it is cheap. A small shop sells snacks and also essentials and behind the garage is a fully stocked Sainsbury for your patronage.

A good point at this site is that it has a car wash. Priced at £3.00 to £4.50 a wash it does a reasonable job of cleaning your car.

Review of Total Service Station

Good value petrol 4*

A petrol station with well priced petrol. A small shop selling essentials and news papers is on site. The staff are helpful and they take American Express. A good feature is the air line that is always working and at 20p good value as it gives an accurate tyre pressure reading.

The garage is tucked out of the way of the Old Kent Road but worth calling in for good quality petrol, snacks and other essentials and of course any tyre pressure checks needed.

Review of Bracken Motorcycle Workshop

KTM only 2*

Called in to find this is an exclusive dealers KTM are there only interest. Will not even give you a quote to fit a tyre for a non KTM motorbike. They will sell you some chain oil or other product like it and even some clothing but it might have KTM written on it.

A KTM exclusive bike dealer with an exclusive to KTM work shop and an accessory showroom.

Review of Pole Position

Good Value repairs 4*

I needed my bike MOT'ed after the police took the MOT off my bike as it had a flat tyre and the fork seals were leaking. This was over the top but as it was a traffic copper to be expected as they are hyped out of reality into cloud cookoo land. He thought my 15 year old bike was worn out and did not like it that I was unemployed on that day.

Having tried to get a quote from two other dealers whom had no interest in fixing my fork seals I decided to give Pole position a visit. The quote of £90 was very reasonable. While there I had my puncture fixed and oil/filter changed as well.

The new fork seals have made a slight improvement to the ride. The oil change has made a big improvement to the engine it runs much smoother.

All in with a new MOT and a few other tweeks the price of just under £200 was as quoted. I will be calling in on them again as they seem to be flexible and not just out to over charge.

Review of London Home Appliances

Cheap and top products 5*

Fed up with being mucked around at Currys and other well known shops and catalogues £30 delivery charges and delivery when they want to weeks in the future I decided to patronise a local shop for my purchase of a fridge freezer as when using local shops in the past the service was far better.

I noticed a couple of models with a unknown brand but just as I was about to purchase one of them I spied the Servis 263 fridge freezer in silver for £249.99. This colour is my favourite for "white" goods. Having already checked this shop has free delivery the next day a deal was done I was just inside my budget.

The product was delivered as promised the next day and I was very happy with it as it was a massive improvement over my previous model.

Then on looking in the Tesco Direct catalogue I just picked up while shopping for frozen food to put into my new fridge frezer I noticed the same model is £125 more expensive with delivery! That is what I call a saving talk about loving local shops.

They also sell washing machines and cookers I would suggest readers of this web site check them out.

Review of Kwik Fit

Cheap service they won't do 1*

The boys at Kwik Fit offer a oil service where they will change your oil and oil filter for £25. Oh no they won't just try and get them to do it. I ended up giving up after three attempts I tried this branch, Greenwich branch and another in the local area. Come back tomorrow I was told but when I did they were always busy.

I ended up getting my own mechanic to do the job. The parts at halfords come to £30.77 which included an air filter as well as the oil and oil filter and I gave the mechanic £30 for his trouble. No wonder Kwik Fit did not want to do the service it's a scam.

Review of Watling Tyres

They like to wind you up 3*

Going to a tyre dealer is not my favourite journey as they like to spin a yarn and will not want to fit a tyre they have not sold you. And so it was when I went to change my front tyre as it had worn very strangly I wondered what the previous owner up been doing?

I had bought my tyre on e-bay for £40 plus £8 postage. They tyre fitter took one look at it and had it condemed. It was 27 years old, the rubber was hard an out of production model. I said just put it on and I will try it out. No no he said I would not I will sell you a new tyre for £95 instead. Having been turn away from to two other Motorcycle shops I decided enough was enough and just get a new tyre from him.

These crazy tyre dealers drum up business like this it seems. On contacting the shop that sold me the tyre I was told it could be 7 years old and would be no trouble at all if fitted to my bike. All the aggro made me forget my pin number lucky I had the cash on me as if I had of tried to use a pin less credit card their whole world would have collapsed?

Review of Telmot

Excellent service 5*

I needed a new MOT on my 16 year old Renault 21TS. living just off Silwood street I decided to use Telmot. I have noticed that Telmot has Police cars using it as a testing station. This was a good recommendation to me. My insurance was up so I decded to get my car tested four weeks early. I went on a saturday morning and was told to park the car in the corner of the garage.

On my return the mechanics were busy at work checkng my car over. I noticed however that the rear brake lights did not work. The helpful mechanic changed the bulbs otherwise that would of been a fail.

The other excellent point was the cost at only £40 it was cheap my last MOT was £50. I even recieved some helpful advice on the cars condition. Overall a first class testing station.

Review of B Batra

New building same service 3*

A nice new building for this surgery means it is more popular than ever. A computerised system is used to call you to the doctor no expence it seems has been spared.

A crowd of people hangs around before you are seen by the doctor. All seem to be irritating as I had a stomach ache at the time their stares but not speaking made them all look shifty. Yes, this is a local surgery for local people, yobs and slobs.

Doctor Batra wanted to know if I had just got out of the local nut house which seemed a bit of a strange diagnosis for a stomach ache. It must be the area, blinkered local doctors must be used to that sort of character. I got some pills off him but little advice as he wanted to ask for mine asking me what made me feel better.

The new NHS upgrade is to keep the malingerers happy it seems.
