Review of Sainsburys Filling Stations

Well priced petrol 3*

A station on a busy road out of London which always has a good price on it's petrol. The quality may not be that good but it is cheap. A small shop sells snacks and also essentials and behind the garage is a fully stocked Sainsbury for your patronage.

A good point at this site is that it has a car wash. Priced at £3.00 to £4.50 a wash it does a reasonable job of cleaning your car.

Review of B Batra

New building same service 3*

A nice new building for this surgery means it is more popular than ever. A computerised system is used to call you to the doctor no expence it seems has been spared.

A crowd of people hangs around before you are seen by the doctor. All seem to be irritating as I had a stomach ache at the time their stares but not speaking made them all look shifty. Yes, this is a local surgery for local people, yobs and slobs.

Doctor Batra wanted to know if I had just got out of the local nut house which seemed a bit of a strange diagnosis for a stomach ache. It must be the area, blinkered local doctors must be used to that sort of character. I got some pills off him but little advice as he wanted to ask for mine asking me what made me feel better.

The new NHS upgrade is to keep the malingerers happy it seems.

Review of Sainsburys

No crowds and real bargains sometimes! 3*

There is plenty of parking at Sainsbur'ys New Cross. The shop is a large one a newish one built where the old Millwall football ground was. A petrol station is availible and a Dreams bed shop and Currys is on the same site.

The shop has a restaurant inside and a chemist and dry cleaners as well. The stock is usual Sainsburys fair. Reduce price items are avalible throughout the store these are sometimes real bargains as in a bag of potatoes down to 25p from £1.80 which is to good to resist.

Other bargains I bought a new TV for £60 three years ago and it is still going. As my previous TV was the same style and was £120 and it only lasted two years then this was a real bargain. These bargains are however not avalible often you have to be in the shop at the right time because they will not last long.

Over all a good choice for the discerning shopper. As there is so much competition in the area the nice check out staff and lack of crowds is a good point. But be careful when going through the check out. The reduced price items are put through at their full price a trip to customer service gets the refund. Once a cashier wanted to charge me 90p for a single bagel when the actual price was 4 for 90p! She had mixed up the prices as they did not have a bar code.

Review of Post Office

09 Aug 07, 14:08

Long waits, await you. 2*

Long waits are the norm at this post office which can be annoying when parked in the 20 minute bay outside.

The services on offer are the usual ones of a main post office. A small shop inside sells envelopes pens and cheap electrical goods but not many. A stamp machine on the wall only works ever so often.

Next door is a parcel collection office.

Overall in the three years I have been using this post office it has been notable only for the waiting in line for service. I always try then to use another post office but if car tax is wanted there is no choice.

Review of New Cross Library

29 Jul 07, 16:49

Crummy Library 1*

This has to be the crummiest library around and I have been to loads of librarys. A boring selection of books never changing in the 3 years I have been in there, no DVD's and a few music cassettes. Five computers usually in use and that is about it. It opens every other day of the week that is tuesday, thursday and saturday.

The paint is peeling off the ceiling and it closes for lunch between 1 and 2. It must be kept open for the local's as no one would go there other wise.
