Review of Internacionale

Shop
This is a mixture of homewear and ladies clothing. Kind of like a low rent Urban Outfitters.
It's at the back of the Hounds Hill centre but I think may be shutting soon due to the redevelopment.
Clothes are ok but nothing special & the changing rooms are often quite messy.

Review of Bay Trading Co
30 Apr 08, 01:35
Shop
In the former location of Dolcis, Bay Trading seems like quite a tacky shop or at least one that is frequented by mid teens.
Dolcis still has a small section of the store occupying the left hand wall. However everything is quite jumbled and they seem to take ages getting shoes for you to try on.

Review of Topshop
30 Apr 08, 01:32
Shop
This topshop is quite small and doesn't have that great a range of stuff. Also the turnaround in different styles is quite slow.
Menswear is on the ground floor and ladieswear upstairs which always bothers me as surely it's a ladieswear store first! Just a niggle that's always annoyed me!!
Always lots of staff to help though and the shoe assistants are always lovely.

Rough
Traditionally known as one of the roughest pubs in Blackpool I wouldn't go here unless you really had to.
It was pretty grotty and run down but a refurb spruced it up a little. However unless you like fights, I'd avoid.

Review of Talk Of The Coast

Tadah!
This is a cabaret bar inside a popular hotel in Blackpool down South Shore way.
It's has various entertainers / singers performing so it's best to ring ahead and find out who is on before planning a trip. The crowd is always really lively and friendly and it's true entertainment Blackpool stylee.

Review of Yates's Wine Lodge

Booze
Ring and check ahead if you're planning to go to this Yates as it's only open half the year when it's in season.
This is larger than the other Yates but also frequented by more holiday makers as it's down the more skanky south shore end of the promenade.
Lots of tables outside which is good for smokers and sun fans.

Review of Yates's Wine Lodge
30 Apr 08, 01:17
Booze
Large bar in the middle of the town centre opposite North Pier. It's quite a large space with two floors and DJs most of the week. Food is nice for pub stuff and it's really busy at the weekends.
Staff could be better at clearing glasses but they probably don't have enough staff!

Review of MK One

shop
Not a great shop. It's in the Hounds Hill Centre and is probably the worst place to buy clothes. It's next to a Primark which is much better and stocks much better quality stuff for the same price.
The changing rooms in here are always quite dirty.

Review of Monsoon

Buy
This is a quite new shop in the heart of Blackpool. It's pretty upmarket for Blackpool styles to be honest but is surprisingly busy. It's one of those Monsoon that connects to an Accessorise so there is lots of lovely stuff to buy.

Review of Boom Boom Room

Dance
This is a large club formerly known as Jellies underneath the defunct Palace nightclub.
Locals don't really go, it's mainly filled by tourists and tends to have a slightly nasty older lecherous men praying on really young girls feel to it.
As all the classy clubs go, there are lots of carpeted areas! Hooray.

Review of Underbar
16 Apr 08, 01:01
Drink
It's had many names but The Underbar is down some stairs in between the entrances of Boots & HMV. It loudly pumps music onto the street so you'll be able to find it.
Music is a big mixture from 70s to the current day dance music. Friday nights are quite dancy though.
The bar seems to open early, maybe about 2pm, in the summer season and on Saturdays they've started having free lapdancers for boys and girls.
Oh Blackpool, how we love you.

Review of Tower Lounge
16 Apr 08, 00:58
Dance
If you're a tourist you will probably visit the tower lounge, but don't expect any locals to be in there.
It's a massive venue underneath Blackpool tower and has two huge bars running down each side of the room. There's a large dancefloor and a stage to dance on. The DJs play cheesy / dance chart music and it's all very Blackpool Kiss Me Quick.
Avoid!

Review of Scrooges Wine Bar
16 Apr 08, 00:50
Drink
A blackpool tradition, Scrooges 'Wine Bar' is an upstairs bar slightly away from most of town.
It's styled as if you are in Charles Dicken's victorian times and it's full of a slightly alternative clientele.
Drinks are cheaper than the mainstream bars but be warned it can often have quite young people inside.

Review of Coronation Rock Co
15 Apr 08, 19:04
Sweet
Rock is a great sweet. It's very sticky and lasts ages. However it also rots your teeth.
I find that Coronation Rock is the best rock in Blackpool though. This is a really cute shop and it sells so much more than the hard stuff - lots of fudge also. Plus you can get rock shaped into different rude objects.
Hooray for seaside towns.

Snip
This is a great hairdresser in the centre of Blackpool. It's often fully booked though so make sure you plan ahead.
The staff are really friendly and like a good chinwag but they don't waste time. They'll make you feel good while they are looking after your hair.
It's good value and I've never had a bad cut.

Review of The Blue Room
11 Apr 08, 02:15
Drink
Blackpool's most popular bar with the indie / alternative crowd, in fact one of their very few hangouts. It has a very student-y crowd and has been popular in the town for ages. My father and his friends went there!
It's got lots of different drinks from normal bottled favourites to a wide range of real ales.
They have live band nights every week and often an alternative DJ. People go here before going to Jenx at Insomnia quite often.

Review of Number 3
11 Apr 08, 02:12
Drink
A huge pub on the Norton Drive / Church Street / Whitegate Drive crossroads, and a popular meeting point for people before venturing into the heart of the town centre.
It's been recently renovated and has a very modern feel. There's a DJ and you can party there until about 1am at the weekend.
There's a small outdoor area at the front and a handy, but small car park at the back.

Review of Premier
10 Apr 08, 02:15
BEEP BEEP
The best cab firm in the world. Premier is a Blackpool tradition.
They are always really punctual, normally pick up the phone quickly and have a special locals line. Also make sure you also for a premier card when you're in the cab which will get you 10% off future journeys.

Review of Schofields
09 Apr 08, 18:00
Used to be popular
Used to be a really popular bar in the centre of Blackpool but now it's a deadzone. There are two floors and upstairs can be booked out for prviate parties.
The bar is very long and the music is chart based. Drinks are mainly stuff like WKD, VK & bottled beers.
Wouldn't go here unless necessary.

Review of Club Heaven & Hell
09 Apr 08, 17:57
No longer here
This no longer exists, but when it did it was brilliant.
Double Your Money, £5 in and free bar promotions made it a wicked night out when we were all 18. There were 2 rooms, heaven played pop and hell, dance.
Then it went downhill and disappeared! Boo hoo.

Review of Insomnia
09 Apr 08, 17:56
Small & Shiny
This is a small club on Topping Street, around the corner from the Syndicate.
The odd decor is all shiny silver and it feels like a club built in the 80s that was later abandoned! The main night here is Jenx on a Friday which is an indie disco, drinks are quite cheap and it's normally about £5 in.

Review of The Syndicate Super Club
09 Apr 08, 17:55
Super blackpool
This is a massive club and probably the best place to go in Blackpool if you want dance music. They often have people like Dave Pearce & Judge Jules playing, and er better people I just can't think of any.
There are 3 rooms. The upstairs dance room has a revolving dance floor which is more fun than it sounds. Then there's a charty room downstairs and a smaller over 25s room.

Review of West Coast Rock Cafe
09 Apr 08, 16:44
American Diner
Deceptively hidden behind a rather shonky looking door next to Next, West Coast Rock is a treat mainly locals only know about.
It's an American diner style restaurant and has a massive menu from pizzas to salads to steak to burgers. Prices range from about £7 to £13.
Chicken Caesar Salad is particularly good as are the mozarella sticks.
