Review of Euphorium Bakery
21 May 07, 19:07
Modern bakery
Eupohorim is a nice little bakery in Angel; there are two branches, one in Chapel Market and one on Upper Street. The fresh french bread is soft and crunchy, and the ambience in Euphorium makes is a nice place to stop for a coffee.

Review of The Dragon Bar
21 May 07, 18:57
Great bar
Dragon Bar is so cool that there isn't even a sign marking where it is; you just have to know. However, the clientele aren't half as pretentious as you'd presume. Dragon Bar is very long and thin, with exposed brick walls and a more chilled out room downstairs. The music is great, especially on Fridays when the DJ plays a fantastic selection of hip hop.

Review of Starbucks

Big chain coffee shop
Everyone knows Starbucks; it must be the largest chain of coffee shops in the UK. There are no less than four branches on Angel's Upper Street, which I find off putting. I always try to go to an independent coffee shop over Starbucks, but it's Chai Tea Latte is undeniably delicious, so I often find myself tempted.

Review of McDonalds

Burger and chips
Everyone knows McDonald's; it's the big American chain of burger 'restaurants.' This branch is particularly large, and is frequented by locals, market workers and work men. And by me when I'm very hungover. I'm not a big meat eater so I'd recommend a veggie burger, chips and the all important apple pie.

Review of Cheers

Terrible club
Cheers is a truly awful bar/club/restaurant. It attracts very sleazy men and slutty girls drinks are expensive and the music is beyond awful. Avoid at all costs!

Review of Chapel Market DIY
18 May 07, 23:43
Local DIY shop
Chapel DIY has a good range of DIY products, although items on the larger side are harder to find here, as it is only a small shop. The staff are friendly and helpful. Chapel DIY is more expensive than the larger superstores like Homebase, but is conveniently located.

Review of David Clulow Opticians
18 May 07, 22:06
Good opticians
David Clulow is my local opticians, and I've always found the service I receive prompt and helpful. As it's a small branch of the opticians, I can always seen the same optician and feel like I'm receiving a personal service. There is also a good range of glasses and sunglasses. However, David Clulow is definitely more expensive than the larger opticians like Specsavers.

Review of The Cult Entertainment Megastore
18 May 07, 12:16
Geeky goods
Forbidden planet sells every comic you could every think of, as well as many comic figures and books. The life size cut outs and big posters are great, but to be honest I just tend to get dragged round here.

Review of Cuba Libre and Bar Havana
17 May 07, 10:54
Great cocktails and Cuban food
Cuba Libre is a great independent Cuban bar in Angel. There is no better way to spend an evening than making your way through the extensive cocktail list. Actually, do this in the happy hour (I think it's 5pm-7pm), when cocktails are buy one get one free. The food is also fantastic; there's a big menu which consists of many different types of food that you wouldn't get on your average Upper St menu. Cuba Libre plays Latin music in the evenings, but get there early because on the weekends they charge for entry.

Review of Eat

Great take out cafe
Eat is a take away cafe, which offers the usual hot drinks, sandwiches and salads. I prefer Eat to other similar cafes; they do delicious oats, yogurt and fruit compote, and a great Thai noodle salad.
