Review of Browns Bride

Fashionista Brides 3*

The thing about Browns Brides is that they have the best bridal gowns in town. Which means you have to beg for an appointment, and they wont exactly fawn over you.. but if you want an equisite, modern, romantic dress then you can't beat their selection. Oscar de la Renta, Peter Langner etc etc. And, they are right next to Claridges, which is perfect for post appointment cocktails with your bridesmaids.

Review of Ronnie Scotts Club

And all that jazz... 5*

This venue is of course, legendary. I went for the first time before Christmas, having been desperate to visit for years. It's just undergone a major refurb, and old timers tell me it's as good as it used to be, only far less scruffy. We sat on the side benches, which give you a great view of the band and right across the whole venue. It reminded me of an old cruise liner, the way it's all set out. Terribly glamorous. We were there for the Ronnie Scott's Big Band night, which because it was yuletide were doing more of the classics than I'm guessing they would do normally. It was great fun. I'd like to go back and hear some of the more avant guard jazz in the new year. Food was predictable but very very tasty and the 3 bottles of red wine we necked were all delicious.

Review of The Pan Bookshop

Book Worms 5*

This is one of the nicest, quietest bookstores I have ever been to. Great selection of modern and classic fiction, artbook section etc. The staff are really helpful, happy to order for you in advance, or advise you of publishing date etc. Its so refreshing being in a bookshop where the staff know about books, care about books and it's not just all about 3 for 2 deals. I always notice that they have lots of signed copies of new fiction.

Review of Knightsbridge Nails & Beauty

Good nails, bad tan... 1*

These guys are good for the simple stuff (nails, waxing etc) but I once had a tragic fake tan (spray) treatment from them... hands the colour of treacle... big mistake. Watch out.

Get your kit on 5*

This small firm do the full formal wear works, blacktie, morning suits everything. So much nicer than shiny, nylon Moss Bros! I recently had to get a boy rigged out and they were so kind and efficient, and even had a waistcoat made to fit him even though it was just a hire job. Exceptional service.

Frothy Cakes 3*

This place does lots and lots of fluffy frothy cakes, very pretty but difficult to carry home without squashing. They wrap them up beautifully in little boxes. The perfect place to pick up pudding or cakes for tea. I love tea.

Review of The Berkeley Health Club and Spa

Luxury Living 5*

This place in the summer is heaven on earth. The roof top pool is breathtaking, beautifully done, with views across hyde park being the only reminder that you are slap bang in the middle of London. If you had membership I honestly believe you wouldn't need to leave London the whole summer. I would, of course, love to be a member and once spent October, November and December trying to convince my boyfriend that membership would be an ideal Christmas gift. He said no. But I still have happy memories of the place. You can go on a day pass which I think is about £60, chose a sunny day and you'll get your money's worth. If you are staying at the hotel it's free. The pool is small, but the loungers are really the place to stay anyway, just admire the view. I didn't venture into the gym so I can't comment on that, but no doubt it is state of the art, la la la. There are treatment rooms a plenty and a host of fabulous treatments. The club sandwiches are good too. Ah. Maybe one day-?

Soul Food 3*

This is proper american soul food - brilliant breakfasts (my fav meal) pankcakes and waffles, home fries, the works. Macaroni Cheese is good also. Best if you are really really hungry.

Review of The Wedding Shop

Vera Wang etc 3*

The Wedding Shop feels very "trad" despite having all the latest designs from Wang, Ellie Saab and more. I didn't have a great experience here, I found the staff quite insistent and opinionated which can be irritating when you are trying on a zillion dresses, some of which clearly dont suit you. The Wedding Shop at Selfridges (which used to be at Liberty) is much better, has a far bigger selection (Wang only) and is lighter, less oppressive.

Fashionable Florist 4*

These guys do beautiful, hand tied, tastefully cellophaned bunches, which are enough to make me swoon... Seasonal and fashionable, they are a great call if you want to impress a girl, or say a very meaningful "sorry".
