Review of Toby Carvery

Pile you plate up
The Toby Carvery's are fantastic value for money. Just turn-up and once you've been seated, go and get your roast dinner from the Carvery. Usually a choice of 3 meats, then help yourself to as much yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables as you can handle! All for around £7 or £8. There are alternatives available. Ideal for a quick and cheap meal out if expectations aren't too high.

Review of Leicester Tigers Rugby Football Club
28 May 08, 15:32
TRY something new
Being a football fan, the only Rugby I had seen before was of England playing on the TV. I went to see Leicester Tigers as part of a Hen Party and I enjoyed every minute of it. The game was exciting and unpredictable. I was struck by the difference in atmosphere to a football match. It was much more civilised, there wasn't any abusive language between opposing supporters and actually some hand shakes after the game. Some of the Leicester Tigers players signed autographs after the game and took the time to meet the supporters. I would recommend a match as a great day out for the family.

Review of Capello's
15 May 08, 16:16
Having a bad hair day?
I've been going to Capello's to have my hair cut for a couple of years now and can't imagine going anywhere else, unless my hairdresser leaves! I recommend Gemma, who always does a fab cut and colour...prices are very reasonable too. All the staff are very friendly; there are a lot of juniors who are always happy to get you a drink/magazine whilst assisting the stylist. Kiss those bad hair days goodbye! (Though please don’t take my hair as an example because most of the time I'm too lazy to do anything with it!)

Review of Pipe Of Port
15 May 08, 16:00
Wine and dine in peace and quiet
I highly recommend the Pipe of Port as somewhere to eat and drink in Southend, away from the hustle and bustle of the chain restaurants. It has a quiet atmosphere and the feel of a real wine cellar with sawdust on the floor and barrels behind the bar. It offers wonderful homemade food with to-die-for deserts! Also, being someone who is usually the designated driver, I can also recommend the homemade lemonade so none of those gassy branded soft drinks. Situated just off Southend High Street, opposite Churchill’s, (just a doorway leading downstairs) it’s not obvious that the restaurant is there but once you have been, you won’t forgot it!

Review of Giraffe
22 Apr 08, 10:36
Fill your face!
We were stuck for somewhere to eat on our day out to London when we stumbled across Giraffe along the South Bank. The staff were friendly and very efficient. There was a great atmosphere, we thought it was pretty trendy (for us Essex folk) and there were people of all ages dining that day. We were spoilt for choice with the menu (mexican style, burgers, salads, fish etc) so we went the whole hog and had a starter, main with side orders and dessert. We were surprised at the prices, no dearer than usual considering we were in London. We didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive and it was delicious! I recommend trying one of their smoothies too! The best thing of all...there are plenty of other Giraffe's dotted around the country and we have one only 25 minutes from home!

Review of Michael Clarke

Jewellery Specialists
Michael Clarke Jewellers have been in Rayleigh for absolutely donkey’s years. They have a superb reputation for beautiful hand made jewellery, all designed and made on site. If you can't find what you are looking for then they will design it for you! They will also carry out repairs on your most precious of pieces. We have just ordered our Wedding Rings from Michael Clarke; they were so helpful and certainly know their stuff, we didn't want to go anywhere else! You won't get the same service in your usual high street jewellery chain.

Review of Wheelers Indian
21 Apr 08, 15:44
Indian Takeaway
Wheelers is located on Bread and Cheese Hill in Benfleet. They are a takeaway only so perfect for a Saturday night in, sat in front of the tv when you can't be bothered to cook and you fancy a ruby murray! The food is just great and they do some great deals, we are always surprised at how cheap the bill is so give them a try! A good Indian can be hard to find so I have solved the problem for you!

Review of Bull Inn
21 Apr 08, 10:35
The Bull Inn - A great place to eat
The Bull Inn is part of the Chef and Brewer chain. It offers more than the usual burger, chips and lasagne (though they are available too) but instead British Beef & Bombardier Ale Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Aromatic Thai King Prawn Curry and I strongly recommend the Roasted Root Vegetables and Somerset Brie Tart Tartin! The service is great and the atmosphere like a typical country pub with very reasonable prices. Definitely one of the best pubs to go and eat in the South of Essex!
