Review of Golden Galleon

A great place for a sunny afternoon...
Set in an amazing location on the Cuckmere river, just outside Seaford heading towards Eastbourne on the A259 this is one of the nicer "chain" pubs.
Good points: at off peak times and in good weather, this place is great for a relaxed catch up with mates. OK prices, and above average food with friendly bar staff. One of the better pubs in the area.
Bad Points: Busy periods! Because of it's prime location, don't expect to turn up for Sunday lunch and get it within 30 mins, for me, it's never beem less than 45!
They operate a bar order service, which is fine again untill busy periods. at peak times It can be frustrating waiting behind 8 people, waiting to be served by one or two bar staff.

Review of Bengal Palace
15 Apr 08, 08:10
A great start to a Friday night out, or in!
One of the better Indian cuisine restaurants in Seaford. Always a busy place, with a great atmosphere and fantastic service.
Good points: Amazing menu, with standard Indian cuisine, but for an extra treat, order from the specialist bengal menu. Despite always being busy, service is always quick, friendly and efficient. As well as eating in, the take away service is also never disapointing.
Bad Points: Slightly pricey, but maybe not for the quality of food and service you recieve.

Review of Nick Allen Building Service
15 Apr 08, 08:18
Top notch building service!
A building company that (In personal experience) can achieve anything you ask of them.
Their strap is "Big enough to cope, small enough to care". This cannot be more accurate. I have recently been restoring parts of my 18th Century house, bringing it up to date with a modern Kitchen, Bathroom and shower room, and also turning a damp cellar into a usable, warm room. As you can imagine, in such an old property an awful lot of care and professionalism is required, which Nick Allen Buiding services served up again and again.
Sometimes I had ideas which just needed completing, other times I needed a complete design service from beginning to completion of a project and in any case I found working with NABS a completely easy and stress free experience, with very fair and realistic costing.
Good points: Could not have found anyone better.
Bad Points: None.

Review of Golden Paris
15 Apr 08, 08:26
Great Destinational Eatery!
Correction: GOLDEN PALACE, not "PARIS"
Located just at the bottom of Broad Street (The main high street in seaford) this restaurant has recently undergone a complete transformation.
6 months ago, the Golden Palace produced great food but was on the small and slighty "overly local" side of things.
Today, the restaurant is twice the size and serves up the same great menu but in a much more modern atmosphere.
Good Points: Amazing Thai food, from an all you can eat menu (Much better than a buffet; the food is cooked fresh, and brought to your table) and you can eat as much as you like. Now also there is a seperate funky function room.
Bad Points: Slightly on the Pricey side, but quite happy to pay more for the upgraded atmosphere, but same great family-run service.

Review of Peter Leonard Marine
15 Apr 08, 08:49
The best boat yard in the area!
This is a fantasic, family run boat yeard offering everything a boat owner needs and more.
A year ago, I decided to get a boat, knowing nothing about watercraft and having no previous experience. After much exploring of boat yards / moorings in the area I decided to moor with Peter Leonard Marine.
Before findling PL Marine, not knowing anything about boating was something I hated admiting to in boat yards!... Here, everyone from the engineers to the big boss are only to happy to jump in the boat and offer advice or a helping hand... even boating lessons!
As well as moorings, PL Marine has a top notch workshop with fully qualified boat engineers at hand. Not only for the big jobs, that I have always had seen to quickly thanks to a very efficient bookings sytem, but also the little issues , when the engineers are more than happy to hop out of the work shops for 5 minutes to lend a helping hand.
There is also a fully stocked chandlery, a friendly reception area where a cup of tea is always offered, and a new & used boat sales area to the front.
Their website www.plmarine.com also offers all the information I need before a boat trip, from tide and weather information, to swing bridge opening times and even boat handling riles and regs!
Good Points: I could have not asked for a better start into the world of boating. A great place, with lovely people running a very efficent profesional service at great prices.
Bad Points: None.

Review of Downs Leisure Centre
15 Apr 08, 21:31
A Leisure Centre That Goes Beyond Expectations...
Today I joined this gym, or as I should really say "Centre", as there is a lot more on offer than just the gym including excercise classes, activities and swimming (off site).
Although this may not be a "4 Star" gym, I have decided to rate it with 4 stars as I was pleasently suprised when I went in for the first time today. The place is clean, bright, friendly and appears to be recently refurbished in areas.
The costing is not as expensive as most gyms, and the particular membership I took out lets me use other centres within the group at no extra cost.
Good Points: Above expectations for Seaford.
Bad Points: Not really bad as such, but if your after a fancy all-the-frills club, this is not it. It's a no nonsence, no frills, gym and sports hall.

Review of Seahaven Pool & Gym
15 Apr 08, 21:39
Not the best of the centres available from the Wave Lesiure group.
Seahaven pool and fitness centre (as it's now called) certainly plays its part well for the community, offering a good size pool, and small gym.
I have to say however, that whenever I have been to this pool, although clean, with friendly staff, I just find it a bit "dingy".
It is definately worth the drive to use the much nicer, more modern Lewes Leisure Centre for the pool, or the Downs Leisure Centre for their new gym. (Both part of the same group)
Good Points: Local, cheap, does it's job.
Bad Points: Not the best pool or gym within 10 minutes driving distance.

Review of Lewes Leisure Centre

The best pool from Wave Leisure, with a great gym too!
A bright, clean, leisure centre with great pool and brand new gym.
Today I joined the Wave Leisure group on a monthly membership scheme, mainly to use the Downs Leisure centre, but this is the nicest pool locally, included in that membership.
Staff are friendly and facillities spot on.
Lots of extras are available, gym classes, swimming lessons / pool aerobics and loads for the kids too
Good Points: One of the best leisure centres from Wave Leisure.
Bad Points: Busy periods.

Review of The Ram Inn
15 Apr 08, 22:01
A lovely pub, tucked away with great classic sussex pub atmosphere.
Three friends and I visited The Ram at Firle on Saturday for lunch.
The "new management" are delightful people and the food was truly excellent - beautifully cooked and presented and lots of it. We started with grilled sardines in lemon oil, three large ones per portion, served with chiabatta and dipping oils and the grilled halumi and asparagus was a success too. We all had the home cooked ham hock with new potatoes, which was stunning. The meal came to £55 for 4, excluding drinks - good wine list. No plastic menus, helpful and pleasant staff. We sat in the shady garden to eat and had our coffee inside sitting in comfy wing chairs
A true, friendly, Sussex Pub.
Good Points: Amazing place to relax, and enjoy great food.
Bad Points: none.

Review of Woodies Longboard Diner
15 Apr 08, 22:08
Everything an American Diner should be, and more!
Within a stone's throw of the homes and private beaches of the rich and famous in Hove is a very authentic-looking American Diner and surf shop. It sells boards, beach sandals, you name it. The waves in Hove are not exactly Waikiki standard but this place seems to do a good trade. Next door is Woodies Diner, a self consciously Americanoid establishment with waitresses dressed in american 50's outfits, and a checkerboard floor and squeaky glittery plastic seats... fantastic!
Good Points: Best American diner locally.
Bad Points: Can be on the pricey side, VERY busy at busy periods, and no table booking is possible.
