Review of Bill's Canteen

29 Apr 08, 10:52

cuisine deluxe 5*

Bill’s canteen is a little place of food delight. Choosing your breakfast in the morning is difficult already (the bacon bagels are the best!) but the lunch menu is even better. I highly recommend visiting Bill’s on a Tuesday: it’s pie day! Bill and his ever friendly team will surprise you with their own homemade pies. They also offer a great choice of sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes and not to forget the sweets! One thing though: stay clear of the curry and crumble combo on Thursdays. You might risk passing out on a carbohydrate-high!

Review of Wasabi

best Sushi ever! 5*

This has to be my number one Sushi place! They have a selection of hot food (stir-fries mainly, have to admit I never tried them but people are queuing up on the street for them so I guess they must be good?!) I come here for the Sushi and though there are other Sushi places closer to work I keep coming back to Wasabi Sushi. They have a choice of sashimi and sushi boxes but you can also pick and mix your own. Price is average I guess but great quality and everything is being freshly prepared.

Review of Fiori Corner

little Italy on Leicester Square 4*

You can’t miss the Café/Bar/Restaurant/Doner/Pizza/Pasta takeaway place on the corner of Leicester Square. We go there quite regularly to get a pasta take out during our lunch breaks at work, They have a great choice of sandwiches, paninis, kebabs and pizzas. I can highly recommend the pasta, for £3,50 you can’t get anything better for that money around Leicester Square. I’d stay clear off the fry-ups though, they look well greasy from what I have seen!

Review of Browns

can’t make anything wrong with this place! 3*

Browns is probably one of the more classier and a bit pricier places around Leicester Square. But the inside decor is great and very tasteful. The place is perfect for work lunches, pre-theatre dinners or cocktails after work. I quite like coming here, it makes a nice change to the usual trip to pub after work.

Review of The Porterhouse

a pub maze 3*

This place is massive. Every time I go there I seem to be finding new floors, bars, tables etc. It’s got a great atmosphere but can get really busy on the weekend so better go there during the week. They have an amazing choice of beer so the perfect place for any beer lovers!

Review of The Garrick Arms

my work local…what can I say? 3*

I really don’t know why we spend so much time in this pub. Drinks are expensive, staff is usually slow and grumpy, the food isn’t great either. However, I have to admit that I’ve had some great nights in this pub and will probably keep going there for a bit longer as it’s the only rather decent pub around where I work.

Review of Tossed

Salad to go 4*

Tossed is probably one of my favourite lunch places around Leicester Square. The selection of fresh salads, sandwiches and smoothies is great and they always come up with daily specials. Though it might be a bit pricier then your average lunch costs it’s still great value for what you get: a box of fresh crispy salad with any topping you can ever think of! It gets really busy during lunch time so make sure you get there early!

Review of Lamb and Flag

11 Apr 08, 09:26

nice work local 3*

The Lamb and Flag is a little traditional pub between Covent Garden and Leicester Square. I guess it’s one of the very random pubs in this area that is not part of a chain or a busy touristy place. It’s especially nice in summer where you can stand outside the pub and sip your G&T. The inside is pretty old fashioned and the last redecoration was probably at least 10 years ago. Nevertheless it’s a little charming traditional pub in central London always worth a visit in summer, especially if you work in the area.

Review of Fire and Stone

different but nice! 4*

This pizza place is surely not your average pizza place! They offer a range of pizzas from all over the world. Some of the combinations seem a bit weird and I on my first visit it took me some time to decide on what I wanted. I went for a New York Pizza with roast potatoes, bacon and sour cream and it was absolutely amazing. The portions are pretty big and you can easily share a pizza. They have great lunch offers so definitely worth a visit!
