Review of Edinboro Castle

drinkies
This is a good spot for a few drinks - particularly on a summers evening when the large garden area is fab - at the colder end of the spectrum there are covered areas outside so you can still sit and enjoy the twinkling lights... mind you its not bad inside either - with decent burgers and a selection of lagers - although they are a bit short on the ale selection...
good atmosphere though and worth a visit

Review of Cafe 1001

Hidden Pleasures
There isn't much to suggest the delights inside this place if you are strolling along to 93 Feet East or the Vibe Bar just down Brick Lane. The outside tables and burger stand don't give away the fact that there are two rooms upstairs with DJs laying funky beats and live performers in the back room keeping things going. The Seats are comfortable, the drinks are cheap (although you are only getting cans if you want beer, and plastic glasses for the spirits) and the atmosphere is trendy without being nauseating. The only drawback for somewhere that calls itself a Cafe is the lack of choice when it comes to food. We could have murdered some Nachos but the slightly limp looking burgers and sandwiches sat in the window didn't look so appealing..

Review of Rough Trade East

Not so Rough Trade
If you have ever been into the Rough Trade shop in Covent Garden, tucked away down in Neal's Yard, then this newish addition to the company will look astounding. No cramped feeling here as a large shop with the record company offices overlooking the floor from a mezzanine, a small stage for instore appearances and a coffee shop all have space to express themselves without ever giving the impression of overbearing. The shop itself is a cornucopia of delights, showing the way for independent record shops, that dying breed in a world of online shopping and internet downloads. There is, of course, an unequalled pleasure to be taken from browsing through new and old records from artists you may never have heard of, on the off chance of uncovering a hidden gem. You could do the same on MySpace, but then you wouldn't have all the other fun things at the Truman Brewery around you!

Review of 93 Feet East

Eclectic and bags of Fun!
93 Feet East has the East London/Brick Lane Grotty yet Sparkly vibe down pat - Providing a simple yet well laid out bar with a separate room for live acts and a courtyard with lots of table space and a barbecue area.
They attract some top DJs and bands and have a regular Buttoned Down Disco Live night. We went on Sunday and spent an enjoyable afternoon eating free cake and playing the various free games on offer. I've always found it less posey than the Vibe Bar across the road and have always had an entertaining time there.
