Review of Co Op

29 Apr 08, 13:48

Convenience and value 3*

The Avenue's Co-op is smallish, but still has a decent range of essentials, at only slightly more than standard co-op prices. Convenient if you live in Combe Down - friendly staff - and they usually have good late evening discounts on fresh food.

Review of Waterstones Booksellers

Books on Campus 4*

Situated on the campus of the University of Bath this Waterstones store is relatively small, but well stocked, with pretty much every academic text you would need - especially if you're doing a course at the Uni as a lot of departments give the store a list of key texts.

Although probably not the cheapest - it's definitely convenient and if you're feeling in need of retail therapy, they also have a nice range of non-academic books and gifts.

Review of 1449AM URB

29 Apr 08, 13:38

University of Bath's Student Radio 5*

URB does a splendid job of providing information and entertainment to the students of the University of Bath.

Great range of music, the thing to listen to if you're a student - or if you're just wishing you were still a student and not a nasty grown up.

Review of Red Cross Shop

29 Apr 08, 13:27

Bargainous charity 4*

Oldfield Park has more than its fair share of good charity shops. The Red Cross definitely don't go for the extortinate pricing that a lot of charity shops do these days, and you can regularly find little treats in here. Their book selection - at 4 for a £1 is possibly the cheapest I've ever seen!

Review of Giant Party Shop

29 Apr 08, 13:23

Fancy dress sorted. 4*

Situated in the middle of Oldfield Park, the Giant Party Shop offers a great range of fancy dress outfits and party paraphenalia. If you're in a hurry and don't suscribe to the throw-it-together-yourself charity shop approach to fancy dress, then the Giant Party Shop is the place to be. Friendly staff, prices you'd expect - have fun.

Review of Private Shop

29 Apr 08, 13:20

What do you expect? 3*

You won't stumble in without realising whats going on here. Boarded up with PRIVATE SHOP in large letters, you're unlikely to mistake it for the post office.

If its what you're looking for, you'll probably leave happy. Located just out of town with parking out the front its a discrete run in and out affair too. Classy.

Review of The Sausage Shop

29 Apr 08, 13:17

Brilliant Sausages 4*

A good old fashioned butchers type shop selling the most amazing array of different flavoured sausages. Meaty and tasty, the only problem will be choosing which ones to cook for tea.

The Sausage shop also does a take away sausage in a bun, or sausage and mash which is a great value quick lunch.

Review of The Sweet Shop

29 Apr 08, 13:14

Sweets galore 4*

The Sweet Shop does exactly what it says on the tin. The tiny little shop near the abbey - that you could easily miss unless you were looking, sells the sweets you remember from your childhood in big jars behind the counter. Step inside and you'll be just like, well, a child in a sweet shop!

Proper good old fashioned sweets and little touristy giftboxes when you're in a rush for a present for your mum too.

Review of Mr D's

29 Apr 08, 12:31

Everyone loves Mr Ds 3*

Mr Ds is an institution. The man in the van in the middle of town. greasy Burgers, chips, great idea at the end of a night out. The actual shop is a bit out of the way though, but probably worth it if you're heading that way anyway.

Review of Yummy House

29 Apr 08, 12:29

The best chinese in Bath 4*

Yummy House not only has the best name, but does the best chinese takeaway I've ever found in the whole of Bath. Good offers and prices and really generous portions and most importantly great food. Definitely the takeaway of choice.
