Review of Blue Groove

Cold toast!
This cafe is in a prime location in Croyde, has a sun-trap of a terrace at back and at the front and is light and airy inside (although the psychedelic green mural on the wall can only be the creative output of someone smoking grey pharmaceuticals).
So in essence it should be fantastic. And it was. Last year.
I ate there again recently and the service was slow, the waiter forgetful and the toast was cold. Cold, chewy toast.
Croyde is a small place, really popular with the surf crowd and has a bit of a captive audience. Unfortunately Blue Groove is neglecting it.

Review of Bayview Farm Camping & Caravan Site

Best location and showers
I camped at Bayview last year and have just spent the bank holiday there. It's not cheap for a camp site (£25 a night in high season for a car, two people and one tent). But you'd be hard pushed to find a better location (amazing view, about 5 minutes walk to the beach and the pub) and facilities: it has well-kept flat fields, large pitches and the best shower block of any camp site I've ever stayed at. Plenty of hot water, which you need after surfing or kite flying. And the shower cubicles have a little seat built into the back of the doors - a little extra detail that makes big difference when you're trying to get dressed or have many toiletries!
You can also bbq at the site (they provide bricks to rest your disposables on). And if cooking proves far too much like hard work, there is a decent chippie at the entrance. Perfect.

Review of Hobb's Restaurant

Lovely bistro
Hobb's was recommended by friends (who ate there two evenings in a row). Don't be fooled by the cute shop front, it snakes round the back so it's bigger than you think! The menu is typical bistro - excellent steak and fries, wonderful traditionally cooked sea bass and good veggie options too (a risotto puff pastry dish, which I almost ordered and a nut roast). Massive portions - especially the sea bass - so it's a fab restaurant if you've spent the day surfing or hiking and worked up an appetite. If you opt for starters, try the hoisin duck to share. And if you have space for dessert, try a "Brownie Heaven" and an amaretto! Brilliant service, friendly staff and good wine list.
Similar prices to a London bistro, but it is worth every penny for the local produce. Booking is a must, particularly at weekends.
