This garden centre is now called trelawney and has got so much better than it was before. You can get so much more than just plnats here, the house items you can get are endless and if you need to talk plants then there are lots of very knowledgable staff to ask for advice.

Galaxy 7 seater
Now called Thrifty car hire, very good for cars, minibuses and MPV`s. We went down here last week to hire a galaxy 7 seater so we could go to wembley, the rates were great and they got us a vehicle in for the trip. Really good staff and very efficaint. I would definately recommend.

Not good access to be honest but if you want the real proper quality serve gear then this is the place to go too. The staff are all surfy but they dont talk down to you. Its a very surfy area here and if you feel you`d like a go and need the clothing then you cant go wrong in here.

Good quality
This garage/motor dealership has been mitsubishi for a couple of years now and have just been voted the best performing against target in the country! The sales staff are brilliant and the choice of vehicles both new and used is very good. The workshop is at the back and very very busy! Worth a visit for anything car related!

Not easy to find as they are tucked away but the two guys who run the garage are superb. They MOT`D my megane at the drop of a hat and they were so great with delivering it back to me. The prices here are superb but they do get really busy, so get booked in early for your work.

I really like this iceland as its right in the middle of the twon and very easy to get too. The prices here seem to get cheaper evry time i come here. Much of the frozen stuff you can get here is so much dearer in the other supermarkets! The drinks also seem to be great value so if we need drink now its iceland we go too.

look out tesco
A really great Asda as its just on the edge of weymouth and the parking is brilliant. The spaces are bigger than average and the store is very well kept, tidy wise! The clothing hits you as you walk in which is clever as they have all the lost leaders right as you walk in! the choice here is very good too so look out Tesco

A great saling club which does encourage non memebers to come and have a go. Now that the olympics are going to be held here, the rowing and sailing facilities here are first class and the weather here can be great for superb sailing. Membership is tight but if you get your name down then you should be ok this summer

Right at the top of the hill by portland heights, this garage sells some pretty good quality used cars and has plenty of room to display the 100 or so cars they have! They have a very clean and efficiant service dept and have a fantastic reputation for great work

Family company
This company have been going in south st for over 30 yrs now and is the real family business. They supply most of the new upto date products for heating systems etc but mainly will react to problems within a few hours! Father and two sons who really do serve the public properly and will charge a very fair price for the plumbing services!

An off shoot of best the dept store, they have offices both here and in honiton. This store is purely for carpets and has the choice from heaven! They have about 4 fitters who are all trained internally. They also sell vinyl and oak flooring but mainly profess in the carpet supply and fitting!!

Most of the best places are down dark streets off the main thoroughfare! The outside isnt much to write home about but the menu is superb and the service is very good too. The outside is beautifully decked and in the nice eve`s ou can have a wonderful atmosphere out here looking out over the river! well worth the visit but you may be better to book!

In the main road through bournemouth , this dealer is great as they have access to the cars owned by the manufacturer and all the pre-registered cars for sale. I have bought a TT from these guys and the saving i made was immense. the service is very good and the choice given is very comprehensive!

Great Barber
This used to be called Alan`s, named after the present owners father. I used to have my hair cut by alan many years ago when i was a boy, sat on a bar over the barbers chair, then when my dad was paying he would ask dad, anything for the weekend sir? Mmmmm. Still a very good barbers and Stephen really does carry on his fathers reputation, great place to have your hair cut guys!!!

Been here in the town for many years, its been where it is now for over 20 years and serves much of the town and the surrounding villages! The shop is pretty big now with most of what youd expect from a big boots. They deliver now too for bridport addresses and the pharmacy is pretty gd at being open late on a friday evening.

Hodges fire water
The only place locally that i know that still sells the best medicine out, the famous "Hodges Fire water". Its made here by the owner and sold for the common cold, i feel its just the best thing to blow away any cold that may hit! Just off the main part of the twon, you can park here and the service is very personall!

A nice small indian eating house with a very good reputation. One of two indians in the town, this one doesnt have a takeaway service though! The owners both work on the premesis and really do have some great staff! Really nice place to treat a partner but you do need to book in good time!

A couple of great friends from school work here and they still give the great service they did all those years ago! The workshop goes straight out onto the main road, they can cope with upto 4 cars at the same time and the quality of the work is first class! Dread!!
Ive been going to Nick for about 11 years now and i have to say he still struggles to make me a calm sole when in the dreaded chair! He pursuaded me to go onto denplan and i have to say with the state of my teeth its been a great move, i have a check up with him every 6 mths and its really paid off even though i still act like a 5 year old when in there! If dentists could be described as fantastic then this is one!

this is a family run company who really show the nationals how to behave! They supply lots of the white goods you can buy plus all servicing. They will react very quickly to an emergency and the costs of the fridges/washing machines are really competative compared to currys and comet!

The guys in here are now getting a little more interested in what you need, the displays are alot better than they used to be plus the deals you can get here cant really be bettered! The animal shop is very good here, they stock lots of shoes and baby clothes too. The offers here can be good too esp around xmas and just after the summer. The hoody`s they do are brilliant as they do such a great range of colours and sizes, ive just kiited out the kids here from their last sale!!

The local BMW dealership right next door to the vospers on the site! The dealership is pretty big, lots of room for used car stock and the showroom has upto 10 cars in there! The workshop is immaculate and will service any make of car! The used cars are all BMW and you know you`ll get quality here

The only real fish and chip shop to speak of in the town, they do some of the best chips ive tasted, they cut there own potatoes and deep fry them and they taste just fab! They also will do the battered mars bar if youd like one, the cod is nice but my favourite from here is the battered sausage! Lovely

The name is very apt as they have the swannery right here in Abbotsbury! The pub is very nice as its roomy and has plenty of decent parking. The meals are lovely too as they are of real dorset background plus they do a selection of real ales here! Gets very busy in the summer with grockles stopping off while travelling the coast road!

The course is surprisingly good for being out in the middle of nowhere! The clubhouse is pretty nice and the food is to die for! A lot of the ingredients are locally privided and the chef is very proud of his efforts! The golf is nice as the course doesnt get too full and its not too hard for the bandits amongst us!!

A fantastic racket sports facility and the coaches etc here are first class! There are some tennis courts under cover but mainly they are outside and floodlit! The squash courts are very good quality and glass backed! You do have a membership facility here but you can book but will struggle as the membership is very high!

This dealership is my fathers favourite, he drives a merc and has his car serviced here too. He lives in bridport and they will pick up his car and re-deliver it when its done! They have a nice new car showroom and a small showroom for the nearly new ones too! Used to be called Tice but still has the repuattion from yrs ago!

Over 50 yrs old
This has been here for over 50 yrs and has been through the mill in its time. About 30 yrs ago they had a lorry run away with no brakes and crash straight into it and demolish the shop, it has been rebuilt and still supplies the village with all its store products! Very fresh fruit and veg, the only minus is that you can pay a bit more for the fact that it has no competition!

The main pub/hotel in the village right in the middle of the village. Very victorian in its look and very very well run! The meals are superb and can get very busy when the camp sites get full in the summer! The queen mum stayed here many yrs ago and they still live off the back of that today!!

This is a real country pub only 500 yards from the anchor. It also has tables outside and really does do some lovely meals all year round. Very popular with walkers and locals alike, the inside is ok but can get cramped when busy, lovely in the winter if you can get to the fire and watch the flames lapping at the grate!!

Now called westerly they are situated right off the M5 and have both BMW and Skoda on site! The showroom has been extended lately for the Mini range so now can accomodate all your tastes! The showroom is airy and the sales staff are unlike most in that let you brouse without getting really pushy!!

Its a real treat to be honest being able to go to an asda for once, the value here does tend to overtake the tesco and sainsburys of the town! We travel here as the clothes for both the kids and me are real value for money. The aisles are really big and its always very clean in here!!

A god send to me and my kids, they have a great book selection here plus the music dept here is very good as the other record shop has closed in town! The mag`s selection is really good, you can get your lottery ticket from here and the sweets are here for the kids when they leave school!

One of the nicest bakers in town with the best bread rolls you`ll get anywhere! They bake here on site and the lovely old ladies that serve you here are so helpfull! This is my sons fav shoe shop. Its just off the guildhall square and stocks all the skater boy shoes and pumps that used to be in many yrs ago! The guildhall is a lovely old building right in the middle of the high st, its where the local council have their meetings and the mayor is often seen arriving in his chaufeur driven car entering the guildhall! Its very grande inside and is over 300 yrs old!

This is amazing to see, i didnt realise this was available to see but since the new princesshay has been built they have an attraction now for you to be able to see the undergraound passaged that run all the way under the city! my partner(born and bred in paignton) has always prefered this beach to paignton's as there is hardly any seaweed on Preston beach but Piagnton beach is covered in the stuff and if you go in the sea on paignton you get seaweed everywhere!!! preston is alot more friendly and has a good restaurant too!! plus if the tide is olut you can walk round from Preston to Paignton.

this is a great place to eat and if the weather is nice a lovley place to eat outside!!! the service is good but if they are really busy then you may have to wait a while. the food was fantastic-my pizza was very rustic looking and full of parma ham and the crust was just right-not too thick and not too cripsy. my partner had a rissotto which looked and tasted fabulous!!! well worth a visit.

this place has been a restaurant for over 40 years!!it has lovley warm decor wooden floors and quite contemporary furniture.to start the evening try one of their cocktails-then head for the specials board-chicken breats filled with mozzarella and ham!!! delicious!!! the prices are alitlle high but the quality is excellent!!they also have an execellent range of wines.

When i was out of work for 2 mths, it shook me to the core, the two agencies to really help me were this one and Calibre. The lady here kept in touch with me very well, really understood my needs and got me two interviews even though i had found a position by then! Very good service and id recommend very much!!

Nice smell
A lovely recruitment agency right next to the soap shop, this agency smells just lovely!! Its very professional and really do help you if your looking for that job in sales! You have a brief interview and the guys here do take you very seriously! Nice clean and inviting office and the staff are very professional!

Not bad at all
If youd like a sovereign or some decent second hand gold etc then Ivor Doble can help you, situated in sidwell st just off the centre of the city, they will sell you some good quality new products or some really good second hand if that what you want! Not too bad to be honest!!

I would say this was the dearest and poshist shop in the town. If your after top of the range watches and gold then its here you need to visit! they have gurads at the door and they wont let you in if you look like a hoody! The cartier watches and the Rolex watches stand out and much of the products are not priced!

Another gandy st wonder! Very individual and much of the beautiful products here come from Asia and down under! The ladies in here are quite hippy but so very helpful it does make you feel like parting with some hard earned cash! The atmosphere in here is lovely and would recommend for a pressie for your lady!!

worth the visit
A beautiful little jewellery shop just on the corner of gandy st. Its so very independant and you wont find this product anywhere else! Its got some lovely crystal jewellery and the little nik naks are just superb for s lovely little pressie for the lady in your life at a great price! Very much worth a visit when your in gandy st!

Utter quality in here in my view, along with Robert Price this is the place to go if your really looking for some utter quality! They have a huge selection of gold and platinum plus they will always look at making you some jewellery bespoke for you! They have some brilliant staff and the shop is pretty big so can cater for several clients at once!

One of the very best jewellery shops in the city! If you are after silver or platinum products then you cant go wron in here! Robert is very helpful and so very knowledgable, he will be happy to get you jewellery custom made to your spec and the time for products is really good! The shop is a medium size but the choice is gorgeous! Really lovely here!!

quite an old fashioned jewellers but its so refreshing to find a jeweller who does actually know what they are doing! I bought a watch from here and the lady was so very helpful, its such a refreshing experience to come here as apposed to the trash that is H Samual in the city!

A good boogie
This is really the only place to go once you`ve been thrown out of one of the many pubs in the twon! The floors are very sticky with spitl drink but the dancing is very cool. If, like me you like to boogie the night away, get yourself down here as you will have a groovy time!!

Quite a new estate agency and they employ mainly ladies in this office! The other one is in torrington. They do sell quite a few commercial buildings but are now really getting quite a few residential instructions now! The ladies in here are all very experienced and they come across like they really know there stuff!

this is the biggest and the best in my view in the town. The office is very tidy and very well run. The main thing i like about this office is that you have plenty of room in here plus the information is in some sort of order! Very worth the visit in bideford!

This is a lovely little country pub right in the middle of the village! They have a pool table even bar skittles which i havn`t seen for years! The bar is pretty small but the atmosphere is electric when it gets full of the local drinkers! they will do small meals and the basket meals which we all love at country pubs

Little bridge
Went here last night and i have to say its wonderfull. They have some fantastic local food on the menu, the tables outside are right by the river and it has a gorgeous stone bridge passing by the pub! The bar is very country and the ceilings are very low. The pub has 4 houses surrounding it, what a fab place to live i say!!

A great music shop that has now moved from this site to nearer the centre! the guys here are real enthusiasts and are very keen for you to try before you buy! The main instraments are guitars and drums, the prices are probably the best in the city but there are some competators that can under cut but dont have the expertise that these guys do!

The theatre is based at the university campus and is pretty big! They have lots of different acts, ie classical music, up and coming bands and some comedy acts, Lee evans is there next month but sold out in about half an hour! The theatre is quite old and has grown its popularity over the last 10 years!

This is a lovely little theatre on the way into the city centre. Everytime you walk past the entrance you always walk past the painted figures on the wall, the side doors are often open on a sat afternoon and you can watch them rehearsing for the matinee! The theatre is quite small but very cosy atmosphere!

Toyshops can be as big/small/good or bad for me, they all seem to be brilliant to me! You can have a shop too cluttered though and this is one of them! There are loads of toys to have a play with in here and the staff are just a loda of kids to be honest, could be tidier but still fab!!

An ideal facility if your into crown green bowling! The facility is nice in that its sat alongside the squah court complex and attracts a mixed audience! The bowling is pretty good value and they will allow you to play as you go which is different to when they first opened!

Used to be an internet cafe but now a juice bar, you can crawl off the train at central station and pop in here before a days shopping! The staff are great and the choice of juices are really good! You can sit and relax in the shop before you board a train home or take your juice the short walk into the city!

The new stuffed cheese bits pizza is the one for me, they serve you up a brilliant 12 incher then say you can have as much salads etc as you can eat, blimey, they really do give you plenty of value for money here plus the sweet factory in this pizza hut has the best selection of sweets and syrups in the town. BUBBLE GUM FLAVOUR!!!

This indian takeaway is very popular and gives one of the better services in the town, the rogan josh is one of my favourite dishes here and the guys really can get the food to you quickly if you give them a quick pre-booking! Right in the middle of the high st and you can smell the lovely dishes from way down the road!!

this shop is very very busy as its on the biggest council estate in the city! They do have the standard youth collection stood outside with their bikes but you have to expect that here! The store has all you could want and you can play the lottery here too. The store also stays open until beyond 11pm

Right in the heart of heavitree, it has an esso filling station and the tesco store is one of the metro stores! They are open until midnight most eve`s and tends to be a very handy place to stop when you exit the city from a days shopping! The shop is pretty big and you can get most groceries from here
