Book shop
This is a lovely book shop with lots of hardback editions on display. They also have a childrens section at the back. The staff and helpful and friendly. Occasionally have guest speakers and recently has Zadie Smith who lives locally. Great place for gifts.

This is a funky bar at the other end of Chapel Market to Angel. Recently done up and totally refurbished. Open late with DJs.

Review of Fitzroy Tavern

Fitzroy
This is a great pub in summer and you will always see people spilling out. Not so good in the rain or winter as the bar is in the centre and people tend to crowd round it. Its part of the Sam Smith's chain so the beer although not superb is cheap. Dont recommend the food though. Despite its literary history and wouldn't recommend the comedy night either - possibly some of the worst "comedy" I have witnessed.

This is a good weeknight pub. Not so good at the weekend. Nice low lit interior that serves thai food. A cheap way to eat out.

Review of The Salisbury

Salisbury Pub
This is a lovely Victorian pub. Recently renovated it has all the restored cut glass and lamps with female statues as the stands. There is a great selection of beers and cask ales and the staff are always friendly and quick. This is a very busy pre theatre bar but usually empty's on performance time. The journey down to the toilets is decorated with old theatre posters in true West End style.

This is a great gift and card shop. The items are quirky and one off great for all ages. If you go in, look up for the impressive collection of teapots around the ceiling.

Review of Blacks

Blacks - Soho
This is a good camping supply shop in the centre of town. Tucked just off Oxford street it's easy when on shopping trips into town. All the usual camping equipment in the basement and a good range of clothing on the ground floor, plenty of warm and waterproof jackets in stock and plenty in the January sale if you can wait until then to keep out the winter weather. The staff are friendly, casually chatting to the customers at the till and helping when needed rather than imposing themselves. Overall this is good if you local store is small and you want a little more choice or easy to pop into when in town anyway.

Review of James Selby

James Selby Ltd
This is a large department store on Holloway Road. Like most it sells everything, with cosmetics at the front and various other concessions including Topshop which is quite useful if you do not fancy a trip into the West End . One useful department is the haberdashery upstairs.

Review of Chelsea Cinema

Chelsea Cinema
This is a large cinema with an art house feel. They show more unusual choices as well as big releases. The seats are comfortable and the interior is clean and pleasant. The staff and management are honest and thoughtful. I left my mobile here and it was still here to collect the next day, excellent. Tickets at the £7 mark - so usual London prices for outside the Westend.
