Review of Whitton Tandoori

Quite a good little place 4*

I'm awarding this establishemnt 4 stars, but don't get carried away. This is not the ultimate in Indian cuisine, however it does consistently deliver decent if slightly greasy nosh. Situated near the Duke of York pub at the junction between Hanworth Road and Powder Mill Lane it's wise to exercise a bit of caution when visiting as the area is frequented by yobs from the nearby Edgar Road estate. First impressions on entering are not great. Touch the surface of the tables in the waiting area and your hand will sense a certain greasy film which has accumulated since goodness knows how long. Fortunately it is the food which is the raison d'etre of this take-away and that is normally quite flavoursome and the general impression is that the veg and rice are reasonably fresh (can't speak for the meat and fish as I don't eat it). The spices are applied conservatively, meaning you won't get your tongue burnt off if you order a biriani.

Review of Action Bikes

Friendly and efficient 4*

The bikes sold here are mainly in the sub £300 category, which I guess makes sense as they are probably aimed at the commuter fraternity. There are one or two performance bikes, as well as a good range of kids' as well as some bmx jobbies. The majority of the stock being standard road bikes (Trek and Rayleigh from what I've seen). However it is not primarily for the cycling apparatus that I am writing this review. I brought my hardtail Specialized HR XC here to have the gears serviced after something nasty got caught in the derailleur cage. Result, one bike with shiny cassette and smooth gear change. Only £31, a bargain.

Review of The Good Health Shop

08 Jul 08, 13:11

Friendly but expensive 3*

The Good Health Shop is a small, friendly place which manages to cram a wide range of health products into a limited storage area. Having said that they aren't much good for more esoteric items e.g. Shilajit. It has to be said that the prices are quite high compared to larger places e.g. Food for Thought in Kingston, or buying stuff online. The shop is ok if you want to buy one off stuff or need something in an emergency. For regular items though, you can save a lot of money by going elsewhere.
