Review of H&F Chauffeur

Nice wheels 5*

We've used these guys a few times to take staff and clients to hospitality events. They've always been happy to accomodate in any way - including last minute, late night changes of plan! They've got a good range of different vehicles including a new Chrysler 300 stretch limo. Looks very cool, like a Lear jet. Without wings obviously.

Review of Spice Merchant

Good food, nice decor 3*

I've only been here once and was in the mood for a good old fashioned Madras. The dish was fine, what I'd expect form a decent Indian restuarant, but I did think it was a little overpriced for a bog-standard dish. Nice selection of nibbles with the poppadums though! Service was fine but it was a quiet Sunday night

Review of Cafe Naz

Good food, great location 5*

Situated up on the second teir of restaurants in Mermaid Quay it has fab views over the bay. I enjoyed a very long and boozy Saturday lunch there prior to a Tom Jones concert. We ate a great value buffet but I don't know if they still do it. Unusually has a clay tandoori oven in the middle of the restaurant. They also have a very good restuarant of the same name in Brick Lane, London

Review of Michael's Tailoring

02 May 08, 09:18

I wish my legs were longer.... 3*

Serves me right for smoking in my teens I suppose. Anyway, there's not many obvious places you can get your trousers taken up nowadays, especially as the chap in Swindon tented market disappeared with the closure. Michael's does a good job but is a bit hidden away in a maze of little units in a dreary business centre. Maybe the staff would be a little more cheery if they had some sunlight too!

Review of Richer Sounds

Reach for the ear plugs neighbours! 4*

I bought some speakers from them. I wanted a decent set but knew next to nothing about hi-fi. They were really helpful on the phone and when I visited the shop. Apparently, you have to 'run in' a set of speakers! Their nearest shop is 40 miles from me but worth travelling to.

Review of Bull Inn

Chip shop fish and chips - in a pub 4*

They've got lots more on the menu, but since as my missus won't allow a deep fat fryer in our house, I like to grab the opportunity for good ole F&C when I can. They also serve mushy peas and curry sauce. And great real ale. It's also really nice inside with a garden at the back. Waht more can I say? Lovely batter?

Review of Greatfield Nurseries

A proper garden centre 3*

Don't expect to find a selection of fine preserves, cook books, cushions or herbal skin creams here - just loads of stuff for gardening - plus a few bits of garden furniture and pet food thrown in. You can even buy loose seed and fertilizers at a fraction of the price of brand name packets. They'll help you load heavy bags in the car too. Plants can be a bit unloved. If your looking for good shrubs - go to Greenhill Nurseries just down the road

Review of Majestic Wine Warehouses

22 Apr 08, 14:12

Great advice 4*

I wanted to give my team a case of wine each for Christmas. Instead of buying the standard Christmas cases, the staff helped me select each bottle and I ended up with a MUCH better box that the team all commented on. They've got a big selection of real ale too - at far lower prices than the supermarkets if you buy a case or 2 of 12 bottles. I always get thro' mine before the expiry date!

Review of Rasa South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant

22 Apr 08, 14:02

Indian cuisine at it's best 5*

You can choose from this veggie version of Rasa and the meat eaters version across the road.

At both, you'll experience great Keralan cuisine. It all tastes freshly prepared and healthy. Don't expect to find Chicken Tikka Masala, do expect to discover a whole new world of Indian food if you've only experienced the usual Bangladeshi stlye cuisine. I love cooking Indian food, and their cook book has widened my repertoire big time.

Review of Yak Yeti Yak

Nepalese nosh 4*

Not having visited Katmandu or picniced on Everest, I didn't know what to expect. The food is nicely spiced, with plenty of vegatable dishes as well as meat. Don't go if you're expecting a beltingly hot curry although I'm sure they'll add some extra chilli if you wish. Not very often you get the chance to try food like this so well worth a visit.
