Review of The Company Shed

seafood extravaganza
if you're ever out colchester way and fancy an unbelievable fish eating experience, the it's worth the drive out to mersea island and the company shed. right on the beach, this shack come restaurant serves the freshest and tastiest fish you can find - but nothing else. bring your own bread to mop up and wine to wash down whatever's been caught recently. and bring an empty stomach, because you'll eat until it's gone.

Review of Highgate Wines

lovely wine shop
I stopped into Highgate Wines after an evening walk on the heath, and had the nices of chats with the owner/manager. He's obviously a man with a passion for good drinks (they stock great beers), and curious about his customers own experiences.
With no intention of purchasing anything, I walked out with a reasonable bottle of one of my favourites and one I'd never tried.
Well worth a chat at least.

Review of The Green Store

going out of business?
by the look of its stock, this place won't be around for long. was pretty mediocre in the first place so can't imagine it will be missed.

Review of The Flask
15 Jan 08, 15:43
a lot changes in a few months
the flask...what's happened to it? i've been going for years, and it's always held a special place in my heart - quirky staff, amazing location, tasty food and drink. but the last 6 months has seen it decline into a shambolic mess that has kept me from even going for one - what a disappointment. they're often out of food, bar snacks and certain wines. the staff barely look at you now. and the food, when you get it, is poor. let's hope it pull itself back to its former charm.
