Review of Townhouse

Mine's a Cosmopolitan
This is a dark, sexy bar that is deceptively big on the inside. Housed, as the name suggests in a townhouse in one of Knightsbridge's premier streets, this is an excellent place for a pre dinner cocktail. The cocktail menu is extensive and expensive. They play fashion TV on all the screens, which I find somewhat distracting but overall its a fun venue with a loud soundtrack and all the necessary ingredients for a successful night on the hard liquor. Go to supper at the Enterprise afterwards (walking distance).

Out of Africa
This is a fantastic gem of a place, tucked away down a side-street in Clapham. The North African theme is carried out to superb effect in the mezze starters, plates of hummus and incredibly good fish, meat and veggie tagines. Try the sesame, lamb and prune combo , magnificent. If you're in a big party, there is also a Bedouin tent with cushions, evocative lanterns, incense and shesha pipes on hand for those wanting to recreate their holidays out of Africa. Service is patchy, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Review of Brixton Wholefoods

Eat yourself thin
This is a cute and cosy health food store tucked under the arches of Brixton railway bridge. Expect the occasional shaking of shelves as trains rumble overhead while you shop. As well as the usual health food paraphernalia, this store also has a whole wall dedicated to herbs and teas, displayed in the type of jars you used to get sweets in as a kid. Ask for the amount you want and it's measured out for you - not as tasty as midget gems perhaps, but much better for you. There is a notoriously grumpy sales assistant, but great shop nonetheless.

G&G
This is a fabulous little boutique at the far end of the kings rd, it sells womenswear, homewear and gifty things. A very eclectic mix of stuff but the overall theme is feminine, slightly french influenced and very very beautiful. Good for big feature pieces, particularly mirrors and light fittings. The clothes are a bit more random, but always very intriguing and they have a good selection of pretty, delicate camisole and undewear type things. Great place to buy an unusual gift for a girly. There is another branch in primrose hill which is a bit bigger than this one.

Review of The Pan Bookshop

Brilliant Books
This is a brilliant independent bookshop, and they are few and far between. The staff clearly adore books, which is a good start and know release dates for new titles by heart. The store has lots of special editions and signed copies of books. It is, quite simply, a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.

Review of Elias Dry Cleaners

Where
This is a dry cleaner you can trust. Lots of dry cleaning establishments claim to be "specialist"Â but these guys really know what they are doing. From basic shirt laundering to full on evening dress rescue operations, the service is careful and professional. I would thoroughly recommend them. The pressing is often superior to places like Blossom and Browne.

Old fashioned hardware shop
This is a cute little hardware shop on the Old Brompton Rd. It is a real hardware shop and it feels lovely and old fashioned. They sell everything from nails to Dualit toaster parts. It is, I'm afraid, rather expensive, due to its location but the staff know what they're talking about and are helpful.

Fantastic Greenwich pub
This is a brilliant waterside eatery and pub, which feels straight out of Dickensian London. Go to lap up the atmosphere and the excellent selection of beers. You won't be disappointed.
