Review of Drake Circus Shopping Centre

Not all that. 2*

It's not brought much new to Plymouth, it's just moved the old shops to new (alebit often much improved premises). It's left the rest of the city centre looking like even more of a wasteland than it did before. What ift gives with one hand it takes away with the other.

Review of Earls Court Underground Station

Queues 3*

I like the fact that when the Tube approaches they make an announcement to the effect that you do need to 'alight here for insert name of event'. At least that way you know where to start queueing to get out. And then you can start queueing to get into Earl's Court itself!

Review of 10 Downing Street

12 May 08, 14:37

Knock knock 3*

I'm always amazed to see crowds of people crowding around the gates and staring up the street when all they're ever going to see is a front door! It's no work of art, a photo really will do just as well. And surely all those MPs going in and out don't need a car to get them back to the office, it's only down the road!

Review of The Houses Of Parliament

12 May 08, 14:34

Order 3*

It's probably a mistake to think of this place as some sort of tourist attraction but if you do go up into the gallery you quickly realise just how dull some of these debates can be. There are more interesting things to see in London.

Review of Original Pasty House

12 May 08, 14:24

Proof of the pudding 3*

The pastys are nice enough, but I'm not sure if they're £2.85 nice some lettuce and coleslaw and a few slices of cucumber! Nice on a sunny day when they have all of the big windows open.

Review of Exeter Race Course

12 May 08, 14:22

Weighed in, weighed in 3*

Pick your spot well at Exeter. The actual racecourse itself is a bit up and down and round about, so unless you've got a good place to stand the only part of the race you'll actually see are the few seconds that the horses run past you. Easy to get to and well signposted from the A38.

Review of Newton Abbot Races

12 May 08, 14:19

Under starter's orders 4*

It's not as long a wait to get in as you have at Taunton on a bad day, but you still need to leave early to make sure you catch the first race. It's a good open course so you get to see pretty much the whole race which is a plus point over Exeter.

Review of Taunton Racecourse

12 May 08, 14:16

5-4 the field 3*

If you're going to see the races at Taunton then just make sure you leave plenty of time to get there. The queues getting into the car park can be an absolute nightmare! One time they'd called the second race and we still hadn't got through the gate!

Review of Wincanton Racecourse

12 May 08, 14:12

And they're off! 5*

This is easily my favourite race course in the country because it's still about the racing rather than the hats! Ignore the grandstand and stand in the cow shed down the other end and you're not that far off from a good old point to point meeting.

Review of Russell Square Underground Station

09 May 08, 16:51

Going up. 3*

Handy for The British Museum, Bloomsbury and The London Review Of Books bookshop. The feature is those huge elevators that you all have to cram in to before you can get out. Apparently the stairs are a nightmare!
