Review of L J Reed & Son

Quality
This is a wonderful shop: it always looks so clean and tidy and nothing's too much trouble for the staff. It's the sort of place that you think a butcher shop to look like: I keep expecting to see Clive Dunn in there from his Dads Army days.

Review of South Sixteen Fish Chips

Very tasty
When you see them queuing out the door at Squires just nip round the corner and go in here. Good tasty fish and chips, and it's a bit of a hidden gem.

Review of George Hotel

The heart of Braunton
The George is quite an impressive building right in the middle of Braunton, but despite its size there never seems to be quite enough room. Always busy, especially in the summer.

Review of Black Horse Inn

Well worth finding
It's a little bit out of the way, but once you find it this is quite a nice little boozer. Always lively, they have a shove ha'penny table and I seem to remember that their tug of war team is quite formidable too.

Review of Agricultural Inn

Not as good as it used to be
The Aggy used to be the place to go in Braunton, but it's really gone downhill in recent years. I hear it's got some new owners now and they're trying to turn it around, but let's hope it's not a case of too little too late.

Review of Caen Field Car Park
11 Apr 08, 14:07
Too small
Let's be honest, a car park like this is just not big enough for somewhere like Braunton, especially in the summer. That said I don't know where they could put another one. The traffic problems here are awful and not helped by people parking in the street. If you haven't got a driveway or a garage why do you have a car?

Review of Windsor Arms

Give it a chance
I think that the biggest probem the Windsor Arms has is the fact that it seems to change hands every five minutes. As the pub goes there's a nice bar full of locals and a sepearate room for eating.

Eat your meat
Definitely not one for the vegetarians! It's great to deal with people who really know about - and have a passion for - the product they sell. They know where their meat comes from and how to look after and prepare it. Watch them carve the bacon in big thick slices with a knife rather than on a machine.

Review of Three Pigeons
11 Apr 08, 13:52
Weird layout
I think that sometimes The Pigeons has the cards stacked against it sometimes. The interior lay out isn't very drinker friendly with all of those steps up to the bar and because everyone's over the road in The Chich it can be a bit short on atmosphere.

Review of Chichester Arms

Local pub for local people
Whenever I walk in The Chichester Arms it always feels like everything stops and every single pair of eyes in the place turns slowly toward me. It's a bit unnerving, but when you go in there with people who actually live in Bishops Tawton that never seems to happen...
