The Indian Chinese Chinese Indian 
It's a buffet rather than a restaurant and it's all you can eat: once you get the concept, away you go! There's just piles of food, and the bar's very reasonably priced: indulge!

Access problems 
A supermarket on the High Street is a good idea in theory, but in practise it's a nightmare! You have to park in the car park to the rear (if you can find a space) but there's no direct access to the store and you have to walk down the road and round the corner with all your bags. Best for filling up on the neccessaries rather than the weekly shop.

Play away 
It's hard to find a good toy shop on the High Street these days, so this place is well worth knowing about. It does games and jigsaw puzzles etc as well as toys.

Chocaholics beware! 
If you can't be trusted when it comes to chocolate then you'll get yourself into some real trouble in here. There's all sorts of shapes and sizes and most importantly flavours! Everything you thought it was possible to do with the cocoa bean and a few surprises as well...

Review of Ilfracombe Book Shop

Always worth a browse
It's one of those bookshops that isn't really interested in just selling piles and piles of the latest bestseller, so the choice is a bit more rewarding than in some other bookshops. There's also an arts/crafts section at the back, and they do some jigsaws too.

I challenge you...
To a game of air hockey! I am the king of this game and I will beat you! Like the rest of Ilfracombe there's nothing wrong with this place that a lick of paint won't sort out, but some of the video games are a little out of date now. Plenty of one armed bandits though.

Some call it Madonna's Bra
But I think it looks more like a nuclear power station. It's the facilities that matter though and this is a nice cosy theatre and a handy function room in The Pavillion. Show me a theatre bar where it's not a nightmare to get a drink in the interval and I'll show you a happy man. It could do with more parking and a bit more variety in the line-up: the summer shows are always a bit old fashioned/end of the pier...

Farewell sticky carpets!
If you ever went here when it was the old Pendle Stairway you won't believe your eyes when you see it now. And now they've put in extra screens you get a lot more choice. It makes cinema in Ilfracombe something to look forward to rather than something to be suffered.

Last of the great flea pits! 
The romantic in me says that we lost a bit of cinema history when the Pendle finally closed, but it had got really quite shabby in the end. The work they've done on it since has improved it no end.

Land ahoy!
I've only sailed to Lundy from Ilfracombe once. It's a shorter crossing but it's still a great trip and the Island itself is just majestic! I think the brochure said something about peace and solitude but you're never really alone out there because its full of holiday makers and visitors. I'd like to try camping out there next time, I bet you see the best wildlife early in the morning.
