I love The Marshalls! It's a good drinking pub (although I am reliably informed that the food is excellent), and the music hits the right note too!

Miracle workers! 
If Prodrive can teach me to drive then they can teach anyone to drive! I really liked the way that they backed up the practical lessons with the theory work that you need not just to pass the test, but also to be a safer driver.

Not just for school trips...
I went back to Arlington Court recently for the first time since all of those school trips as a child and I still thoroughly enjoyed it! Get talking to the staff/volunteers, they can tell you so many fascinating stories about the place. And they have an original William Blake: you don't get to see too many of those in North Devon...

Howdy!
Whenever we have friends over from the USA we always take them to Ye Olde Globe and they love it! It seems to be just what they think an olde English pubbe should be. Very tourist friendly: look out for the flowerpot house just across the road...

What's going on with Halfords? 
Why don't they sell the things you need for your car any more? It's full of bicycles and tents! If I wanted a bicycle I'd go to a bike shop! If I wanted a tent I'd go to a tent shop! If I wanted something for my car they wouldn't have it because it's full of bikes and tents! Grr!

Review of The Lamb Inn

Isn't this place called Monkey Island now? 
Monkey Island is a terrible name for what was a great drinking pub back when it was The Check Inn. It got a little bit unpleasant when it became The Lamb, but now it's been refurbished it looks like it could be worth a visit again. The only trouble is that every time I go past it seems to be shut!

Style over content 
I'm never sure whether I like Claytons or not... It's one of those places that always seems to be a good idea at the time, but a bit disappointing once you actually get there. Maybe the prices have something to do with it! That said I know people who go there all the time and love it...

Hit and miss
I always want to enjoy The Corner House a bit more than I actually do. It's changed a lot in recent years and not always for the better. Part of its charm was that it didn't have slot machines and a jukebox but those days are gone and the real ale can be a bit hit and miss...

What's happened to this place?
I have lots of fantastic memories of some great nights at this place but in recent years it just seems to have been left to rot... It did get a bit shabby in the end and the last time I was passing it seemed to be boarded up. Let's hope it doesn't stay that way.

Oh dear.
Not good. Just trying to get a drink here is a bit of an effort sometimes... The bar isn't what you'd call 'well stocked' at the best of times and I stopped going in there after being told one too many times that they didn't have this, that or the other...
