Review of XFM

X cellent!
Dave Berry and Alex Zane are great. Either Xu or XFM itself had to die a death and thankfully it was the former. Presenters have always been a core strength of the station and now they’re back in force. The music has always been great but now they have that Xtra something back.

Van Outen – The Saviour of Capital
Finally the station seems to have worked out who it is and is backing it up with great presenters such as the wonderful Denise Van Outen. Although lacking the dynamic of Big Breakfast the show has gone from strength to strength. Denise is a breath of fresh air and adds that extra glamour to the station. The line up throughout has improved. The music is more consistent and the ten songs in a row helps detract from the fact that this is a commercial station. About time but definitely one to tune back in to!

Slowest fast food ever!!
Everyone knows what to expect food wise from the iconic chain so its the important things like getting your food before its cold or you starve that makes a good outlet. This failed on every level. Orders got confused, service was non-existant and I waited about 10mins for the food. Hardly fast, avoid as full or tourists and rude staff who can't actually speak english.

Review of Jewel Bar

Priced to impress
If you want to take a date to a place where you can show off you money this is the bar. Drinks are well over the odds but well presented cocktails are bound to impress. The atmosphere is what you would expect of an overpriced bar. Worth a visit for a special night but a bit over the top for the norm.

Review of Fitness First

Worst gym!
The gym has been cramed into an underground space too small for what is needed. The ventilation and lighting is awful - constantly smells of stale sweat. The mahcines are poorly maintained. Changing rooms have more broken lockers than working and the showers have mould all over them. The Sauna can fit about 4 people at a push. The staff are unhelpful and often not at the reception desk in favour of chatting to friend in another part of the gym. I have used fitness first before and this is not a good reflection on what the chain has to offer.

For the simple to the expert
These guys are really helpful if you need any help with anything electrical. From PC's to plugs they really can advise on anything. If they can't help you they'll point you in the right direction. The prices are very cheap as well. If you are thinking of buying anything electrical get their advise first even if you don't buy from them.

Best Balcony Beer
If it's sunny then this is a real find in Covent Garden. The entrance is hidden at the back of the West Cornish pasty shop. Atmosphere is great. Although not a large place it does have a fantastic balcony over looking the entertainers in the piazza. Good selection of Ale and Beer. You can order food from the pasty shop to your table. Great place to enjoy the sun and novelty of pasty table service!

Drop in trendy haircuts
Most of the staff here are post hair academy but pre Toni & Guy so you get great cuts for less. For guys a wash and cut is £13. No appointment needed and they are open at the weekends and till 7pm most nights. Very stylish place. They do all hair stuff, tanning, tatoos and nails. Great if you work in the area and need a last minute cut. Only drawback if they only take cash. There is a cash machine nearby but doesn't always work.

Beer on the cheap
As a Sammy Smiths you get what you expect... cheap beer with a simple, if not classic english pub, decor and atmosphere. The added benefit it t's surroundings. Not a place to spend an evening it is a great starting point to have a couple of drinks before frequenting the more expensive trendier locations in Covent Garden and Soho. A great location for a lunchtime beer or two. Downstairs is dark and private with lots of booths. Upstairs is the nicer decor with comfy seats and a bar menu that is very generous in portions. Worth a visit if you want to pay £2 for a pint rather than the £4 average for the area.
