Review of Tesco Stores

Try the oat bread
A nice compact Tescos but it gets mental busy on the weekend and you end up queuing down the aisles.
Beckenham isn't a particually ethnic area but this store has a big world food section.

Often run out of stuff
I've never known a supermarket who run out of stuff more than this place. Unless you're first through the door they'll probably be out of milk and most kinds of meat and vegetables.
The checkout staff here are happy enough in a simple kind of way.

Review of St Christopher's Hospice Charity Shop

Great hat selection
I get the impression hats aren't a popular commodity in charity shops and that all the others in Beckenham hand theirs over to this place because there's a huge selection here.
They do though get a bit picky about what they accept if you try and give them stuff and often stop taking any donations altogether.

Review of Greggs

Every High Street should have one
Who can argue with a Greggs?
This one is special because it hasn't been upgraded and if you order a coffee it'll be made with instant and a kettle.. old school!
The pasties are as good here as in any Greggs.
Here's a tip though get a bean and sausage one and put a steak bake on top of it and eat them together. Ummmm

Review of Londis

friendly
It seems this place is staffed by former members of a Sri Lankan boy band.
They're dead friendly though.
They'll also repeat what you've asked for even if it was really clear. Try it out..
You: "Could I have 20 Bensons please"
Shopkeeper: "20 Bensons"
You: "Could I have 10 pounds on this gas card please"
Shopkeeper: "10 pounds"
They have a good selection of food and drinks but annoyingly close at 10 on the weekends meaning the nearest off licence is right at the other end of the High Street

Review of Pitcher and Piano

Not a fan
It's hard to see why anyone goes here. It's a bit of a warehouse without any real character. The drinks are expensive and they give you your change on a little plate.. as if I'm going to tip you for serving me 2 drinks
It has loud music and sticky floors

Review of The Garrick Arms

A wonderful traditional English Pub
This place is a real find. The patrons are a friendly bunch and you might be able to spot a celebrity or two in here on a Friday as I think there's some kind or radio station nearby.
I saw Sue Pollard in there a couple of weeks ago.
The beer is served a couple of degrees warmer than in most pubs which I think makes it easier to drink and the bar staff make sure that you have plenty of time to consider what you want to order by not rushing you the minute you walk to the bar.

Review of The Chandos

Smelly
This place smells of wet tramps.
It has home made beer that gives you a headache although you could buy a football squad a round and still have change from a fiver.
It's like drinking in the pub in Holyoakes where every brand of drink looks similar to something you'd want to drink but isn't quite right

A lot nicer than Hard Rock
Just a few hundred meters from the Hard Rock Casino and along the same lines but a lot nicer.
It's not exactly like Monaco but it's a lot classier than the Hard Rock. It's got a nice bar area too with good food and if you're there for the gambling they have a craps table too!

Good for late drinks
Forget about the gambling, just go in here and drink until 6am! Only takes a while to sign up, and they're never too bothered if your hammered either cos that tends to mean you're primed to gamble.
Once you're in just take a seat and drink!
