Review of Leakbusters
24 Aug 07, 11:50
Plumbing Gods
The first thing that hits you about Leakbusters is that they are a really professional outfit. All staff wear proper uniforms, they arrive on time, provide a free quotation and even have a fun website.
I first called Leakbusters in desperation, after our boiler mysteriously kept switching off, which every other company I called out tried to convince me that it was a wiring problem. Leakbusters proved to be more resilient and sure enough discovered and fixed the problem with ease.

Review of The Real Greek Souvlaki and Bar
27 Jul 07, 09:26
Surpirisingly nice food
I was a bit suspicious about eating here, as I presumed it's riverside location would mean extortionate prices for average food. How wrong I was! The food is cheap and tasty - the theme is, surprisingly enough, souvlaki - greek kebabs. You get huge chunks of tender meat in a wrap with salad and loads of sauces. The chips we got on the side were great too. On the downside, this place is clearly a chain and the decor is uninspiring. Keep your eyes towards the river view though, and you'll have a great time!

Review of Cheers

Bad club
I've never been to the restaurant part of this place, but used to go to the bar/club nights when I was too young to know better and it was the only place we could get in to! The music is cheesy and there is a horrible, slightly intimidating cattle market atmosphere. I can't really think of anything good to say about this place.

Review of Benugo
27 Jul 07, 09:19
Yummy sandwich shop
Benugo is a sandwich shop popular at lunch time with people that work in the local businesses. The choice is great, and although the sandwiches are very rich and probably extremely bad for you, they taste great. It's also one of those only organic, nothing artifical places which is always good to know.

Review of Crazy Larrys

Cheesy club
This is a very popular club that is always crammed with 20 something's that seem to be attempting to relive their uni days by getting wasted, snogging randoms and dancing to crappy music. Not really my cup of tea but is very popular.

Review of The Gatehouse
27 Jul 07, 09:07
Down market pub in an upmarket place
The Gatehouse is the only place in Highgate that is dirt cheap, and so is very popular with locals and school kids who try their luck with getting served. The pub is very large and has a separate eating area, and it is just a Wetherspoons - but as they go it's quite a nice one. Best place to go in Highgate if you're not bothered about ambience but want a cheap pint.

Review of The Flask
27 Jul 07, 09:04
Cosy country-style pub
The Flask is an extremely popular pub in Highgate, and definitely possesses the area's village feel. The beer garden is always busy, both in winter as well as summer now that it has heaters. Inside the layout is unique with cosy seating areas. Drinks are expensive, but comparable to other pubs in the area.

Review of Old Queens Head
27 Jul 07, 08:59
Nice local pub
The Old Queens Head has been around for years, but is now distinctly more trendy and upmarket - like everywhere in Angel the locals seem to be being pushed out and the yuppies welcomed in. Having said that, The Old Queens Head still has a nice atmosphere, and avoids the masses of Upper Street. Sit on the outside tables in the summer, and head upstairs at the weekend for a taste of one the the many DJs that plays.

Review of The Oxford
27 Jul 07, 08:56
Pub with great food
The Oxford is a fashionable yet comfortable put/restaurant in Kentish Town. It has a good selection of wines and beers and the clientele chat away happily under candlelight. The food is British/French and is very rich but very good. There's also an upstairs room that I believe you can hire out for parties.

Review of Mem and Laz
27 Jul 07, 08:52
Nice middle eastern restaurant
Mem laz is a small restaurant just off Upper Street that is packed with tables and a million different trinkets, which creates a cosy and interesting ambience. The food is middle eastern - I'd guess at Turkish but I'm not quite sure - it serves halloumi, moussaka and falafels etc. It's all reasonably priced, especially the lunch deal, and is very good food. Service is always friendly and the house white always goes down well.
