Review of Parveen Tandoori Restaurant
27 Jul 07, 08:48
My favourite Indian restaurant
The Parveen was one of the first restaurants to open in the Angel, and to this day is still going strong. The food isn't cheap, but is consistently brilliant. There are now loads of other Inidan restaurants in the area but none are as good as the Parveen.

Review of Flavours

Gorgeous Cafe/Deli
Flavours is possibly my favourite place in this area. It's a small cafe that sells delicious cakes and savoury treats like feta and spinach flatbread, as well as a range of teas and coffees. The staff are incredibly friendly and there is a real local feel. Perfect place to stop by at for a long coffee and a read of the paper. Well worth the detour off the main road.

Review of Bertorellis
13 May 07, 20:34
Great Italian
Bertorelli is a fashionable Italian restaurant, which at one time was quite famous. The menu offers standard Italian fare, but also a nice selection of fish and meat dishes which are fantastic. The service is relaxed and friendly. Bertorelli isn't cheap, but prices are probably typical of good restaurants in the area.

Review of Brixton Academy

Live music venue
Brixton Academy is an amazing venue for live music. Huge names in music, particularly dance music, play here. The atmosphere is always electric. Check out the listings and buy tickets in advance.

Review of Boots The Chemists
08 May 07, 13:16
Excellent chain of pharmacies
Boots is a large chain of chemists. The pharmacists in this branch are particularly friendly. Other products and services include a fragrance counter, cosmetics counter, snack food and photo developing. All round a useful shop to have in your neighbourhood.

Review of Barfly @ The Monarch
07 May 07, 19:10
Gig venue
Barfly is very famous as an alternative live music venue. Upstairs has seen thousands of up and coming bands play, and a fair few that have made it too. Regular club nights are popular and always fun.

Review of Benefit cosmetics
07 May 07, 11:33
Aesthetically pleasing cosmetics
Benefit is a cosmetics brand that is currently very popular. Not only are the products very good , their undereye concealer is the only one I've found that can actually hide my dark circles , but the packaging is also great.

Review of The Bedroom Bar
05 May 07, 21:06
Great dance club
Bedroom is a cool club in Shoreditch. There is a main bar and dancing area, and also a big chill out room that has, yup you guessed it, lots of beds in it. I went to Bedroom recently for a tech-house night, and had a fantastic time. Also, it only cost £3 to get in which is a lot cheaper than other clubs.

Review of 171 Hair and Beauty
02 May 07, 21:41
Best wax in London!
171 is a beauty salon and hairdresser. I've never been to the hairdresser's, but I have heard good things from friends that have. The beauticians are fantastic - the bikini line and leg waxes they do are practically pain free (hard to believe I know, but true). I would never go anywhere else for a wax. The other treatments are extensive; from facials to eye lash perming. A particular favourite of mine is the relaxing back massage. Their prices are also reasonable, considering 171's central location.

Review of Afghan Kitchen
02 May 07, 11:39
Very good restaurant
Afghan Kitchen is a fantastic restaurant which lies inconspicuously in a tiny building in Angel. The set up is pretty simple , there are a few dishes on offer, for instance coconut chicken, which is served with rice. You eat on simple long benches with clean and modern surroundings. Afghan Kitchen is also pretty cheap.

Review of The Astoria
01 May 07, 10:46
Fantastic gay night
This is somewhat of an institution in London's gay scene. Every Saturday night thousands of people get dressed up and dance the night away at the impressive Astoria venue. Big name popstars like Kylie come on at about 1am, and it's always a fantastic show. A really fun and camp night out.
