Great traditional little boozer 4*

This is a small, traditional london boozer with a little outside space for those balmy soho evenings. It's also got a selection of cozy arm chairs squeezed, (and i do mean squeezed) into it for those cold winter evenings.

Food was typical pub fare last time i ate there, but what knocks it up from 3 to 4 stars from me is a great selection of well cared for beers and lagers and friendly staff.

It does what it says on the tin!

Super cool japanese canal-side dining 4*

Whoever designed this place did an amazing job, so good in fact i believe it's won awards for the way it looks, it is absolutely stunning. It's the perfect place for a romantic evening, they even having a small private dining area behind a crystal curtain. I'm also sure it would be awesome for a party having big spaces, character booths like something from barbarella and from what i could make out a big private function room downstairs.

The food is a knockout and the staff amazing. So why not 5 stars? it's difficult to find / park / get too if you don't know the area and it's pretty expensive.

In fact, I'm quite frightened for this place because of it's sheer size against its accessibility must make it difficult to keep full and it can't be cheap to run - i'd definately recommend a visit if you can make it, just in case it proves unsubstainable and closes.

Review of Aboslut Icebar

Nowhere in London like it.... 4*

Yes it's a bit gimmicky, yes it's a bit touristy, yes you have to pay to get in, and yes you're only allowed to stay for 45 minutes....

but if you've got an evening you want to go off like a rocket, there's no where in london like the icebar.

Each year these guys import river ice from scandinavia and build a different bar with it, then they freeze large ice glasses and mix absolut cocktails into them and glad all visitors in sub-arctic silver capes. if you've ever fancied going to the ice hotel, this is a little slice of it in london.

You go, you shoot cocktails, you have a right laugh, you get chucked out 45 mins later.

It's perfect for a date, a start to a party, in fact if you can excuse the pun it's a great ice breaker whenever you need one.

4 stars for being so good at it's job.

Review of Donzoko

Recommended! 4*

What a gem this place is, it's one of the few places i go to that regularly has queues outside to get in.

It's good value, authentic japanese fare, but don't go if you're scared of your food! you can eat all sorts of fried guts and chicken feet here if you're brave enough. Or you can stick to their exceptional sushi, sashimi, or teriyaki, like me.

They always say that if a restaurant is full of people from the nation it comes from then it must be good, don't they? Well Don Zoko is one of these... a real treasure.

Review of The Diner

I really want to like this place.... 1*

But it just misses the mark every time....

Firstly they have got to sort the beer out. The lager is incredibly fizzy - so much that it seems like cider, and worse gave a terrible hangover (although that might have been drink mixing!).

Worse is the quality of the food and the pricing - £7 for a burger to be told that i had to get fries separately is crazy for basically a glorified pub. The food quality was poor when it came.

Our waiter was really sweaty, literally wringing wet with it, which was pretty off putting to say the least.

Finally, you can't tell which toilet is which. And that gets embarrasing - although the toilet styling is cool.

The decor is close to a US style, and could be forgiven if the rest came up to scratch, but it doesn't so the decor looks and feels on the cheap side. Its confused - it doesn't know if it's a london lounge bar or traditional american diner.

I think it's run by the owners of two floors on kingly street which is a soho institution, without trying nearly so hard, so hopefully they'll be able to sort it out.

Best Sushi in town 5*

I was totally blown away by this place - the attention to detail is second to none, the decor is amazing, the staff perfect, and the food beautiful.

We had a tasting menu as it was difficult to take the whole menu in, and i'd definately recommend that to anyone who goes.

It's not cheap but if you love Sushi this is one place you can't afford to miss in town.

Awesome Mojitos 5*

I love this place - it's got some of the friendliest staff in town. The menu is great, the beer is good and the cocktails are fantastic.

It's one of the few places you can have a pint of san miguel in the sun in soho, and is a very cool place to arrange a big party.

I definately recommend it if you're in the area!
