Good clobber !

I never thought I would tell the world that I enjoy shopping in NEXT....I always thought that store was the domain of women only.

But I am converted there is a great range of clothing for all members of the family and the recently refurbed store looks the business.

the staff are really helpful and friendly...and they don't do that annoying "can I help you" thing...they let you look and leave you to it.

Brilliant.

They don't do tap dancing!

No frills at this shop in Kempston, because it is a place where you go to pick up the materials you need...everything you need for your project, drainage, heating or general plumbing jobs.

The team will bend over backwards to get a solution to your problem and can source any 'named' part for you in the shortest time.

A good company offering great customer service.

Smile Please!!!

If you still use film in your camera or if you do digital your needs are all catered for here.

You can upload your digital images to a PC then write them to a CD in easy stages.

With roll film you can get them developed, enlarged and reprinted. Black and White or Colour nothing is too much trouble.

It's Great...while it lasts !

The Pilgrims Progress is a spacious and comfortable pub offering a massive range of beverage refreshment and an extensive restaurant menu.

Although it is only the usual 'pub grub' it is cooked and presented to a very high standard.

As befits a JD Weatherspoons Pub - the prices are a true reflection on what drinks and food should cost in a pub.

Sadly this establishment is under threat from closure anytime soon....developers have purchased the site - so get in there while you can.

Water great team !

If you are into a bit of DIY plumbing or are the professional who then fixes all the DIY disasters, this is the place to get all your gear.

Being a Plumbers Merchant you would expect them to have all you need...and they do, but they are alway available to offer advice too if you are a bit unsure of stuff.

Chick, Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken....

Southern Fried Chicken as only Colonel Sanders can cook it....well not him personally you understand..

KFC in Kempston is a great outlet for this fowl fest. Not only can you park right outside the door, but the team are a great laugh and are really on the ball when it comes to fast food.

Always fresh, always tasty, always worth a visit!

A Chip Off The Old Block.

If you are a regular at the Peacock Auctions on a Saturday, then you will already know about Fred's.

If not...you are missing a treat. The chips are always crisp, golden and steaming hot. The fish is expertly cooked and there are the usual pies, and sausages etc to chose from.

The staff are a real great laugh and make you feel welcome whenever you visit.

O M G !!!!

Chocolate heaven is in the Harpur Centre.

Fudge, Toffee, Soft Centres, you name it they have it.

Personally I love the liquorice toffee, it is to die for, but in all honesty anything from Thorntons is special.

If it is a special occasion then the friendly staff will wrap you gift for you too.

It's on our doorstep...so go see it !

Very often the things that are right on our own doorstep are the things we tend to ignore or forget about.

Bedford Museum has a wealth of fascinating exhibits both local and the more exotic from afar.

The children may complain before you get in there, but believe me they will be buzzing when they come out. A hidden treasure of Bedford that is sadly underused.

Nice grub !

If you enjoy a Sunday morning walk to refresh the old grey matter, make sure your next walk takes you out Clophill way.

Situated on the roundabout is the Flying Horse. A well presented pub offering low beamed ceilings, a good selection of drinks, and a restaurant that produces some lovely food....and it is always piping hot.

Really comfortable and charming with a welcoming atmosphere.

Xcellent!

Totally brilliant day out.

The snow dome is just awesome, the amount of fun to be had is just immeasurable.

When you have totally snowed yourself out you can eat is many fine eateries, then grab a top movie, before a wee nightcap in one of the bars, or maybe you want to continue into the small hours at one of the clubs that you can find here too.

Make sure you take the time to visit...you will love it !

Just off the High Street, at the back of LIDL, and under the Lurke Street multi-storey car park.

Now you know exactly where it is, why not check it out. Snooker, Billiards and Pool tables are available in this well run and spacious club. There is a bar offering a wide range of refreshments, with a comfortable seating area too.

You simply can't miss the superb display of Flowers and plants that are available as you enter the Harpur Centre.

OK it's a garden centre, but it carries a huge selection of trees and shrubs and of course you can get all your seasonal annual plants here to.

Then treat your tastebuds to a change. The humble baked potato filled with a wide choice of fillings, or if you are a traditionalist lashings of butter, hits the spot each and every time I indulge.

Far more nutritionally beneficial for you and sometimes a heck of a lot more tasty and satisfying, chech out the Baked Potato Shop on the Broadway just along from the Angel.

Not just a Sunday Roast!

Oh my, this is just a complete roast dinner lovers idea of paradise.

Traditional roast Beef, Turkey and Ham accompanied by a massive selection of really well cooked fresh seasonal vegetables makes this a lunch to absolutely devour.

You need to be swift on a Sunday as the Toby Carver acts like a beacon to the residents of our town and you may have to wait for a table....but wait you should it is sooooo worth it.

If you want so quality pasta, some great pesto, fresh Italian bread ( warm if you are early enough ) or some of those great mild or powerful cheeses then this is where it's at.

There are a whole range of treatments (that the ladies understand more that blokes) and a selection of day and half day pampering sessions so you can really get some brownie points.

Reasonable rates and easy to find with parking outside....Sorted !

The best hand job !

Yeah the mechanical ones always seem good, but they don't really clean your car as they should.

Baywash is great the team are good humoured and just get on with giving your motor a good seeing too !

Inside and out, you are guaranteed a sparkling vehicle, and a reasonable cost. Just wait in the customer area, have a cup of coffee, and in a short while....drive away in a clean car !

A great place to really get the party started !

So you have done a few of the pubs on the main strip, and now with the time getting on....you want to get into the groove - so to speak!

Check out Harvey's, a really cool bar with all the drinks you could ever dream of asking for and the jocks know exactly what music to play...they actually think about what they are doing - it is that, that makes Harveys stand out from the rest.

Top venue....a real belter !

Living our history !

Tooley Street London, famous for scaring the bejesus out of you if you are unprepared.

I love the London Dungeon, the way they have captured the the dampness of the arches and kept it there adds to the chilling, unfolding chapters of our history....ghoulish as it.

It is a great day out, it can be expensive but hey...It's in London what do you expect???

Go visit, I know you will enjoy it.

Ahhhh the great outdoors...

Filled with a big selection of all you need to sample some of the great outdoors, with tents, waterproofs, sleeping bags, compasses, walking boots, stoves the list goes on.

No camping trip is complete without a trip yo Millets to stock up on the essentials for your adventure.

They do a great range of thermos flasks too...marvellous!

Cookery gadgets galore !

Although they may not help the taste of the finished dish you are making, at least you can look the part when your dinner guests watch you add the finishing touches to your meal.

A massive range of kitchen tools and gadgets are available here from professional food mixers to plastic spatulas it's all here.

Not sure if there are two shops but I think they are now in the arcade in the center of town.

It's about Flutterby's

It may sound boring....but believe me this is something you should take the children to see.

You will spend a good few hours exploring the wildlife and be amazed at the plethora of Butterflies, rich in the most vivid colours and of all sizes.

It's not until you spend some time here that you realise how much it relaxes you, and it's just outside Bedford...you'll love it !

I didn't know they did that....

I was surprised to find the huge amount of goods that this Tesco now stocks.

From huge TV's and other electrical goods, to a brilliant array of foodstuffs that most supermarkets fail to stock.

Breads from all over the world, and some spices and off the wall fruit and veg....it's just great!

Customer service rates really highly on my scale here, at last a company with staff who want to help you where and when they can.

Not just your round pizzas!

If you are having a party and Pizza is on the menu, then take a look at the menu choice available from Bella Italia.

They can supply huge trays of Pizza with various toppings....and believe me they taste great.

Fancy a really nice cake to help your celebration of a Birthday or Anniversary...they bake cakes too...delivery or drop in for some of the other items they specalise in, you won't be disappointed.

Well Handy !

Being a resident of Kempston this pool and now gym complex is just so handy.

An adequate timetable of facilities offers aqua fitness classes, lane swimming and fun time with the inflatable thingy !

the newish gym enables a workout on some of the newest cardio and weight equipment too.

A small refreshment/spectator area enables you to chill after your swim and workout.

A right Royal pub !

This is a gem of a pub.

Steeped in character it is situated on the High Street in Kempston. The restaurant menu is vast and all the food is cooked to the highest standard.

The landlord is a master at keeping his ales, beers and lagers at their peak and the range of wines and spirits is fantastic.

Highly recommended for a great afternoon/evening out.

An efficient caring practice situated in Flitwick and Kempston.

Once your pet is registered you will be kept informed of when it is necessary to visit for inoculations etc.

All pets are welcome, and the surgeries also hold plentiful supplies of information leaflets on all manor of topics.

On Yer Bike !

Go into this store with an open mind because the massive range of quality cycles on display will blow you away.

The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will advise accordingly depending on your requirements. Whatever your budget there is something to cater for you in the store.

They also have all the essential safety equipment, lights, waterproofs tools etc.

It's not a store you can miss easily as it is bright yellow and just along the road from Greyfriars Police Station.

It's boy heaven....

Mini motor bikes and all things that boys will just love to get involved with....in a mechanical type way.

Set back off St Johns Street, turn up by the Post Office and you'll see them just there.

If you are feeling the need for speed....this is where you can get your fix....there are some really nice bikes here, and the service and servicing are top notch !

If you are a PADI diver of whatever discipline, or maybe you are thinking of taking up the sport then make sure you get the best advice you can.

Planet blue not only offer the complete range of courses, including specialist disciplines to really hone your skills and cement your PADI qualification. But they also offer the latest equipment from fins to BCD's and mask's to SPG's and suits.

It's a great sport but only if you use the professionals to train you...call Planet Blue and dive in !!

There are many DIY stores but Homebase for me is the best.

Well laid out stores, friendly staff and such a huge selection of all the things you will ever need for any project you undertake.

From plumbing to wallpapering and gardening to great Christmas decorations ( in December of course ) they will blow your mind with the stock they carry !

Four out of Four...nothing less!

Understated, comfortable and quality.

So many words could describe this gem!

Although it has slightly higher prices on the menu items than you may be used to, when you taste the food you will understand that sometimes it is worth paying a fraction more for excellence.

The seafood is divine, but don't take my word for it try it yourself....I guarantee you won't be disappointed !

Garlic bread....garlic...bread.......yeah too right. I don't know what they do to it but no visit is complete without copious amounts of the garlic bread.

Don't get me wrong all the other items on the menu are first class too so you can't go wrong.

Excellent service, in a warm friendly atmosphere, and good value.

Highly recommended.

There's always something fishy going on !

If you are interested in Tropical Fish, this is the place to go.

A wealth of knowledge is available from the staff and the massive selection of tanks, accessories and the most beautiful fish is just overwhelming.

I will have my own tank soon, when I have persuaded the cat that he doesn't like fish, but until then, they don't mind me just looking around adding to my list of things that I want to buy !

A little piece of Ireland

This hostelry is tucked away behind Bromham Road, and is a piece of Ireland right here in Bedford.

If you want to indulge yourself is some traditional Irish entertainment, and hear yarns of home....and maybe enjoy a couple or three glasses of stout, this is where you need to be.

St. Patrick's Day is a real hoot and no matter where you are from you should party with the Paddy's...you will love it, and you'll be made so welcome it will feel like home!.

Why go anywhere else?

Standing proud behind the old facade of Bedford School is Bedford's hub of shopping activity.

With all the popular named shops and some unique boutiques you can get almost everything you need here.

Also, for the fellas who are dragged around by their better halves there are plenty of places to refresh yourself with great tea, coffee and eating places.

For the kids...well there is always that spirally thing to run up and down !!

Get your haircut.......!

Fed up of never ending queues when you want to get you locks cut or restyled? Check out the crew at Roys off Ampthill road. Carl, Barry and James are there to make you look the business, whatever the style, whatever advice and without having to worry if your car tax has run out before you even get close to the front of the queue. Very reasonable rates and great banter while you are there, no frills, no neon, no messing....they do what it says on the tin..!

Chips...not for theose people at Autoglass

We have all heard the adverts on Chiltern Radio about chips in your windscreen haven't we? Well having had an annoying chip on my screen for a while now I was intrigued as to how they could possibly fix it. Using so special gadgetry and a "magic" resin there is no sign that there was ever anything wrong ! A great service and handled really professionally, all you need is a copy of your insurance certificate and they do everything else, if you are fully comp....it's usually free too. Do it, make your screen safe again, and don't risk failing your next MOT !

Wow...what a view !

It towers above the Bedford skyline sitting on the bank of the river Great Ouse, adjacent to another of the town's best known ( and as featured on Anglia TV news backdrops ) the town bridge. The Park Inn is more than just a fine hotel, it is a hub. Meet for coffee, meet for a drink in the bar, join the Gym, eat in the restaurant...whet the heck just stay the night. Whatever your reason for entering the Park Inn Hotel you will not be disappointed - you want great customer service...You Got It !

A great day out !

In times of parental stress, don't pull your hair out ( I'm talking any school holiday here ) take yourself and the tribe to Thurleigh Farm Centre. There are a host of things for the little cherrubs to see and do, and plenty of fresh air to be had ( fresh air...the sort you should expects with animals around you understand!!)...and then theres the quad bike rides....oh yes, they'll have a great day....and then in the evening - THEY'LL SLEEP !!!

Something Special.

If you want a real treat, maybe for a special occaision, maybe just to spoil yourself, then you can do no better that booking yourself a table and taking a leisurely lunch or mind blowing dinner at this haven of tranquility. Set in Elstow, this restaurant is charm itself with low ceilings and an inglenook fireplace, a real gem hidden from public view. A fine choice of menu is offered with an unbelievable selection of superb wines to compliment the delicate dishes you may choose. A very warm welcomes you, guaranteed, so if you want to submerse yourself in pure indulgance, make sure you visit St. Helena restaurant.

The Spice Of Life

We all love a good indian meal, but how often do you find that all the spices fight each other in the dish you have chosen and as a result you loose the opportunity to sample all the flavours that create the experience of the dish. At Saffron on Tavistock Street this is simply not the case. Each dish is created with such professionalism that each and every ingredient is identifiable. You can taste each spice as it compliments the main ingredient in your meal. Really friendly service and a great place to meet up and chill with your friends !

A taxi...that is always on time !

You know how it is, you order a taxi for 7:45 and at 8:30 you are calling their office to ask where it is.... Not with A to B taxis. You order a taxi for a particular time and they will be knocking on your door either slightly earlier than booked or bang on time. I have never experienced a service like it. the drivers are polite and friendly, the cars are spotless and comfortable and their knowledge of their patch is first class.

There are so many garages to choose from - why would you go to this one - Simply because Richard and his team really do think of the customer and look after you. Not only in providing courtesey vehicles when available but also in the very competitive pricing structure for all the elements that go into keeping your vehicle on the road. That's a bit Fishy !

Seafood lovers, and those people who love great attentive service should make a bee line for Loch Fyne restaurant in Woburn. Easily accessible ( with parking available right outside on the Market Square) the interior is welcoming and comfortable with a menu to die for. The Oysters are stunningly fresh and taste divine and the accompanying main courses are prepared to very high standards. To make sure your meal is complimented in the right way, the wine list is peppered with a great selection of fine wines - DEEEELICIOUS!
