A handy addition to a local shopping centre. 
Corner shops are an integral part of any neighbourhood and are important for so many reasons.
McColls in Kempston is bigger than your normal corner shop, in fact it is a mini market, very spacious which makes it look half empty at times but they stock all the essential items with a good range of publications and there is a post office in store which is a god send.
Not bad...could do better!

Good clobber ! 
I never thought I would tell the world that I enjoy shopping in NEXT....I always thought that store was the domain of women only.
But I am converted there is a great range of clothing for all members of the family and the recently refurbed store looks the business.
the staff are really helpful and friendly...and they don't do that annoying "can I help you" thing...they let you look and leave you to it.
Brilliant.

They don't do tap dancing!
No frills at this shop in Kempston, because it is a place where you go to pick up the materials you need...everything you need for your project, drainage, heating or general plumbing jobs.
The team will bend over backwards to get a solution to your problem and can source any 'named' part for you in the shortest time.
A good company offering great customer service.

Is it in the Brochure...???
It's an agent that sorts out travel - nuff said!
However, with the shop being right by Sainsburys in Kenpston, you cat' help but have a look at the offers - even if you know a: you can't afford a holiday at the moment and b: you don't have any time to take a holiday.
They always make a good effort with their window, which shows how much attention to detail they will take of your holiday. Very pleasant staff...even when faced with the holiday maker from hell !!

Water great team !
If you are into a bit of DIY plumbing or are the professional who then fixes all the DIY disasters, this is the place to get all your gear.
Being a Plumbers Merchant you would expect them to have all you need...and they do, but they are alway available to offer advice too if you are a bit unsure of stuff.

Chick, Chick, Chick, Chick, Chicken....
Southern Fried Chicken as only Colonel Sanders can cook it....well not him personally you understand..
KFC in Kempston is a great outlet for this fowl fest. Not only can you park right outside the door, but the team are a great laugh and are really on the ball when it comes to fast food.
Always fresh, always tasty, always worth a visit!

Little Italy.
A small Italian convenience store offering a great range in pasta, and all things Italian, and everyday bits and bobs that you run out of.
If you are in the mood for some Italian food and fancy cooking it yourself, then pay a visit to Franco's and pick up all you need.

You can play it if you really want to ! 
Ever fancied taking up an instrument?
You know you look good in the mirror singing into a hairbrush but what about going for the real thing.
Team Music have a great range of top quality instruments and will advise you on what is best for you. All musical accessories including sheet music is available and the staff really do take an interest in you and what you want to achieve.

If you want so quality pasta, some great pesto, fresh Italian bread ( warm if you are early enough ) or some of those great mild or powerful cheeses then this is where it's at.
If you want to impress your friends at a dinner party make sure you get the best ingredients ( and advice ) and blow their minds.

Pure quality, and then some.
A really nice Indian restaurant, which to be fair offers the usual mix of delicious dishes.
However there is something about the atmosphere at Blue Ginger that makes the experience so very nice.
the staff are ultra efficient, friendly and accommodating and the food...well is to die for !
Sample the delights of Blue Ginger once....and it won't be the last time !

Yawn ! 
The Jas Bar is a contemporary and sophisticated bar with the usual selection of Beers, wines and spirits, and a menu of Champagnes
The bar is located in Kempston opposite the Saxon Centre and can seat up to 100 people and has a very contemporary feel to it with comfortable seating.
However don’t think this is the place to be seen, sadly I have never seen more than two or three people in the bar as it is just too far out of town.
Nice place but it has no life in it at all.

It's not difficult !
My most recent trip to this franchise was my last.
I have lost count how many times the order has been wrong, and has been cold...the burger that is not the drink...the drinks are normally always warm !
I can't imagine it is that difficult to read an order, and place the items all in the same bag, then again I am not trained like these people.
Other outlets seem to be spot on, and I know this is not the norm...but i think it's time to start all over again with this one.

You can hire all the gear you need for any function that you are holding or if you are serious about some top notch equipment for your home then they have a great selection of decks, amps and speakers to choose from.

Sometimes a pain in the neck !
I have stopped using this branch of Lloyds as each time I do, the staff are either too busy walking in between the shop and the store room or are watching the clock so they can close bang on time, or usually a few minutes before.
They have got to be one of the last remaining businesses that close for lunch, a time when most people would try to get their medication.
On the occasions that they have had the complete prescription that I require, the service has been OK, but they never have been able to supply me with my complete order in just one visit.

Not just your round pizzas!
If you are having a party and Pizza is on the menu, then take a look at the menu choice available from Bella Italia.
They can supply huge trays of Pizza with various toppings....and believe me they taste great.
Fancy a really nice cake to help your celebration of a Birthday or Anniversary...they bake cakes too...delivery or drop in for some of the other items they specalise in, you won't be disappointed.

Fancy that!
Goos range of fancy dress costumes are displayed in this outlet , plus some crazy and wacky add ons, squirting flowers and other practical jokes.
If they don't have what you want they will try to locate it for you....now that is service.
Reasonable charges for your choice of costume make the process of turning your party in to a real laugh so much easier.

Not quite a Pizza the action. 
I know they pride themselves on delivery, and I have no problem with that aspect of the business, or in fact the Pizzas themselves.
But if you make a personal visit to the shop, the staff don't fall over themselves to be that helpful. I don't know what pizzas they offer off the top of my head, so a little guidance would be nice when you are wondering what to choose.
Instead they look at you like you have just landed from Mars.
All in all a good fast food experience....if ordered by phone !

Well Handy !
Being a resident of Kempston this pool and now gym complex is just so handy.
An adequate timetable of facilities offers aqua fitness classes, lane swimming and fun time with the inflatable thingy !
the newish gym enables a workout on some of the newest cardio and weight equipment too.
A small refreshment/spectator area enables you to chill after your swim and workout.

A right Royal pub !
This is a gem of a pub.
Steeped in character it is situated on the High Street in Kempston. The restaurant menu is vast and all the food is cooked to the highest standard.
The landlord is a master at keeping his ales, beers and lagers at their peak and the range of wines and spirits is fantastic.
Highly recommended for a great afternoon/evening out.

Know which side your bread is buttered!
This has to be the best bakery for miles around.
Once you have succumbed to the gorgeous aroma of freshly cooked bread and cakes you will be back time after time.
Filled rolls, with your choice of filling, hot savouries, like sausage rolls and Cornish pasties...the list is endless. A real local bakery with staff that are up for a laugh and who know what good service means.
they open early too....from 5:30am, now there is dedication !!!

It's boy heaven....
Mini motor bikes and all things that boys will just love to get involved with....in a mechanical type way.
Set back off St Johns Street, turn up by the Post Office and you'll see them just there.
If you are feeling the need for speed....this is where you can get your fix....there are some really nice bikes here, and the service and servicing are top notch !

If you are a pet owner then you'll know that you have responsibilities - You have to provide the best care for you pet in terms of equipment and food and grooming.
Pets At Home has an immense selection of the essentials for all animals, no matter how big or small....within reason of course.
A knowledgeable staff and well stocked shelves, a great business.

Make a difference.....
The Cats Protection League rescue moggys from abandonment, cruelty and other unsavoury circumstances.
If you can offer a cat a home then your help is always welcome. In fact our own cat was a rescue cat and the help and assistance that was offered by the CPL was outstanding.
They are a registered charity, not a business so any money they make goes straight back in to providing care.

It is the weekly ritual of many a household....ours included. When we fancy a Chinese take away we only ever reach for the menu from the Sunflower in Kempston.
As well as all the usual items you would expect they will accommodate any other little requests you may have to make sure you enjoy your meal.
A fast delivery service, with really well cooked food make this our family favourite!

All makes and models are lovingly repaired and serviced in this well established business. There are so many garages to choose from - why would you go to this one - Simply because Richard and his team really do think of the customer and look after you. Not only in providing courtesey vehicles when available but also in the very competitive pricing structure for all the elements that go into keeping your vehicle on the road. And if you are in the market for a change in what you drive - the used car selection is impressive. All in all you are treated like royalty at King Edward Cars!

I need a thingy...Have you got one?
Have you ever thought to myself, I need just one of those thingy's...and never been able to find one, let alone just buying one instead of a pack of 5....4 of which will never be used again. then the answer is Sam's Homecare in Kempston. A hardware shop that has everything from tap washers to weed killer, and Christmas fairy lights to plumbing equipment....you can always find what you want in Sams!
