Review of Costa

Nice coffee shop
I like Costa coffee - it is smooth and rich and they serve great paninis, biscuits and cakes to accompany your drink. This branch is in the great marketplace area of Kingston - go there for lunch and have a nice relaxed time in the easychairs with a window view!

Review of Pret A Manger

Fast fresh food
This is a good Pret branch, large with quite a bit of seating and very effiicient staff as is customary of the brand - it gets busy but the queues move so quickly you don't notice it. I go here a lot as it is one of the closest to where I work. My favourite sandwich is the chicken and avocado, but the wraps are good too - especially the veggie avocado one and the hoisin duck one. The new hot wraps are worth a try too. And the vegetable crisps - mmmm!

Review of Kernow

Lovely friendly place
This is a great cafe, the best in Hampton Wick. It's a great place to relax with your meal - clean, comfortable and the staff are so friendly and full of conversation as well as being efficient. Though the cafe gets busy at lunchtimes, they give you the personal feel that you'd expect from this villagey part of town. So I'd recommend trying to miss the peak time rushes and taking your time in there. Beautiful, deep filled sandwiches and great coffee.

Review of West Cornwall Pasty Co
27 Apr 08, 13:01
Great Pasties
Delicious pasties as usual from this successful chain! I recommend the vegatable ones, from which there are quite a few to choose - cheese and onion, cheese and vegetable, cheese basil and tomato...And the hot drinks are good too, they give you loyalty cards to get your 5th pasty and hot drink for free. This is a take away place, but in the summer the West Cornwall Pasty Co do have seating outside in the marketplace, which makes it a nice place to sit and soak up the atmosphere, and watch the small children play in the water feature on the square!

Review of Puccino's
13 Apr 08, 19:05
Not brilliant food
Puccinos is a strange kind of place, style over content springs to mind. They have strange squiggly framed line drawings on the wall and weird messages on the crockery like 'please smash your cup down really hard here' on the saucer. So the theme is some bizarre modern art concept which is mildly interesting but it's a shame the food isn't up to much. The names of the sandwiches again sound quite cool e.g. a 'manhattan' panini, but the chicken is cubed and suspiciously bernard matthew like. If all you're after is a coffee - their lattes are quite nice.

Review of The Terrace

Really great food
This cafe serves huge, delicious meals, the salads are awesome and if you don't believe a salad could fill you up, you need to get down to this place and be proved wrong. It is a converted house, so pretty cramped inside, but there are tables and chairs outside in the warmer seasons. The best place to sit inside is probably downstairs, at the far end as you go in. It is one of the priciest cafes in Kingston, but worth it. Great coffee and fresh fruit juices and smoothies too.

Review of Il Capriccio Cafe
12 Apr 08, 14:43
Nice cafe
This is at the end of Castle Street, heading the valley of the meditarranean style restaurants. Il Capriccio is a nice clean place with English breakfasts as well as the usual Italian foccacias and paninis. The prices are perhaps a little steeper than neighbouring cafes but the menu is more varied. It seems to be an all female team, who are very efficient. My favourites in here are the risottos, simple tasting and wholesome, as risottos should be!

Review of La Fiesta

Friendly and Popular
This is one of about 10 cafes on Castle Street - I think they are all owned by two separate families! New ones open all the time, I reckon they'll end up taking over all the shops :) But this is a great one, selling wraps and sandwiches, the falafel is good and they sell all sorts of usual meditarrean type mixes. They are very friendly and efficient and the testament to their food is obvious from the permanent lunch time queue snaking out of the door.

Review of Clocks Fine Quality Sandwiches
11 Apr 08, 14:14
delicious
I really like the random name of this sandwich bar. It is tiny, little more than a booth, decorated old-fashioned style with lots of clocks (surprisingly enough) on the walls. Since the pedestrianisation of Castle Street they now have a few tables and chairs outside now in the street, which is lined with a number of other cafes doing the same - it gives a really nice feel. Their sandwiches are generously filled and abosultely delicious - especially the turkey, stuffing and cranberry one.
