Review of James Brindley

James Brindley
A great location and fair sized pub with food being served. The decor could do with spruce up from last time I was there but the outside terrace and great view of the canal does make up for this and the drinks are fairly priced.

A very nice pub with good food and a large outside area too. Well furnished and warm feel to the place. Very popular for quizzes too. Really relaxing and ideal for chatting with friends or meeting for after work drinks.

Review of Bottle Of Sack

Bottle of Sack
Quite a fun pub which a lot of locals tend to frequent. It's not the biggest pub in the town but has a warm atmosphere so when it isn't too crowded it's a good place to head to for a drink with friends.

Litten Tree, Sutton Coldfield
Large bar and restaurant with a good atmosphere and friendly people. There is a big screen for sporting events and there are usually good offers on the food and drinks too.

Review of Ha Ha

Ha Ha, Sutton Coldfield
Quite a large restuarant and bar right in the centre of Sutton Coldfield near the main shopping area. Plenty of seats and good service too. The food is very nice and reasonably priced. It's certainly one place to stop off at if you are heading out for a night in Sutton.

Review of The Goose In The City
12 Apr 08, 15:21
Goose, Wolverhampton
Usually full of old, serial drinkers in the daytime but in the evening you do get a younger crowd in and is a good place to head into early on. There is food available throughout the day but tends to be simple pub grub.

Review of The Goose At The Ovt
12 Apr 08, 15:03
The Goose
This has been re-kitted out and isn't quite the old dark pub it once was but it still doesn't have the atmosphere of a great place. Still likely to be full of older guys sipping their ale in the daytime with a sprinkling if students in the evenings.

Review of Gun Barrel It's A Scream
12 Apr 08, 14:58
Gun Barrells
This is the yellow pub just down from Birmingham University on the Bristol Road. It's a great student pub with discount drinks (with a special student card) but it is open to non students as well but prepare to feel a little old if you're not at Uni ! It's a lively atmosphere with good music on the jukebox and a number of games to play too.

Review of Hogshead
12 Apr 08, 14:51
Hogshead, Solihull
Quite a modern chain pub in Solihull with good food and nice surrondings. The atmosphere is generally good and the staff are keen and friendly. This tends to attract younger people and is a fun lively place to go to.

Review of Boat Inn

The Boat Inn
A great little pub with lots of local character in the village of Catherine-de-Barnes in between Hampton In Arden and Solihull. Situated by the riverside and with a large garden area this is a great place to go. Inside there's traditional decor, a friendly team of staff and great pub food and drink.

Review of Wetherspoons
12 Apr 08, 14:22
Wetherspoons, Paradise Forum
A fairly small but recently refurbished Wetherspoons set in the ever changing Paradise Forum. Child friendly in the daytimes but busy in the early evenings and weekends. Food is reasonably priced and you can get your fix of news from Sky whilst you wait. You do feel a little like you are being watched though as passers by continue to walk through the complex.

Review of The Actress & Bishop

Actress and Bishop, Birmingham
A great pub with a lively atmosphere, good, well priced drinks in an emerging part of Birmingham for entertainment. Just off St. Paul's Square in the Jewellery Quarter this a good place for lunch time drink or in the evening for live music, entertainment and quizzes.

Review of Bulls Head
12 Apr 08, 10:13
Bulls Head, Meriden
A favourite with locals and families who know of this little gem. It used to be a steakhouse but is now more of the new breed of gasto-pubs so expect the food to be more of this style. A great place to take a partner but probably not one for younger children.

Review of Queens Head

Queens Head, Meriden
A fantastic, quaint little public house in a lovely country village. It's small and intimate but has a nice beer garden overlooking the countryside and large car park too. Definetly one for a summer's afternoon if you want to go somewhere away from the usual town or city bars and pubs.

Review of Dog & Gun
12 Apr 08, 08:12
Dog and Gun Tettenhall
A very popular place to go, especially at weekends and Thursday nights. Fantastic, reasonably priced food (the mixed grill is a popular choice) and the large parking and outdoor tables make this a great place to watch the sun go down with friends, family or work colleagues.

Review of Mitre Inn
12 Apr 08, 08:09
Mitre Wolverhampton
Recently refurbished and great food although the menu does seem to have gone very continental and a few of the simpler, popular dishes have gone to be replaced with pricer alternatives. Quite a small place but nice decor, good atmosphere and somewhere to meet friends at the end of a busy day.

Review of Walkabout Inn
12 Apr 08, 07:27
Walkabout Birmingham
Although in keeping with the Austalian theme of this chain bar, this particuar location does seem to have it's own character and with sofas, a balcony over looking the canal and a lower level dance floor and bar this is a good place to find yourself at the weekends. Also a great location to watch sporting events on the big screen and with live cover bands at the weekend playing great indie/pop songs you are certain of a good time.

Review of Bar Room Bar
12 Apr 08, 07:21
Bar Room Bar Birmingham
Recently refurbished this is a very modern, great looking bar and restaurant ideal for couples in the early evening and as a trendy hang out at night. On Fridays and Saturdays you can expect classy DJs with great tunes and this place does get quite busy with its reputation as a cool place to go.

Review of White Horse

White Horse Harborne
A good, traditional pub feel, just off Harborne High Street,. Quite a few regulars and Harborne work folk but a friendly feel and although it's not the biggest place it does have a lot of character, There's also a small pub garden too.

Review of The Varsity
11 Apr 08, 22:41
Varsity Harborne
Great place to go with a group of friends. There is a definite student feel but not intimidating, just friendly and good natured. Ideal for a place to catch up and meet people but the drinks offers are more targeted to the students with discount cards available.

Review of O'Neill's
11 Apr 08, 22:38
O Neills Harborne
Good atmosphere, quite spacious and when we last we were in there was some great live music playing a lot of indie classics that had a lot of people singing along and dancing. A bit of a student feel but still with the classic Irish pub theme.

Review of Flapper & Firkin
11 Apr 08, 20:44
Flapper Birmingham
Many a local band have played here and gone on to great things. It's a good student pub and prelude to a night at Snobs, but has quiz nights and being by the canalside is great for a drink outside. There's a separate live venue downstairs, usually a DJ upstairs and also a jukebox with all the indie classics.

Review of The Malt House
11 Apr 08, 20:41
Malt House Birmingham
Overlooking the main interchange of the Birmingham Canal in the city this is a great pre-drinks pub for anyone visiting the NIA opposite or the ICC. Just a short walk from the Sea life centre and Brindley Place it's also good for families in the daytime. With occasional live music and a great terrace this place was good enough for Bill Clinton on his G8 Visit to the city so it will be good enough for you !

Review of Tap & Spile
11 Apr 08, 19:45
Tap and Spile Birmingham
One of the great hidden gems of Birmingham. By day a great little pub serving real ale in a friendly atmosphere. By night a fantastic after hours pub where the atmosphere is always good, the staff are friendly and you might even get a chance at the Karaoke with a local renowned character. Definetly one to check out !

Review of The Shakespeare

Shakespeare Summer Row
A nice friendly more traditional pub on Summer Row. A good range of reasonably priced pub meals and drinks and a small pub garden ideal for a summers day.

Review of Apres Bar
11 Apr 08, 17:08
Apres Broadway Plaza
A smaller venue to the Summer Row location but with a similar good menu with great pizza and steak offers on certain days of the week and pitchers of beer at reasonable prices. The decor follows the same Red as it's other branches. Located close to Broad Street and next to the AMC cinema and Bowling this is a good place to start or end your evening.

Review of O'Neill's
11 Apr 08, 16:55
ONeills
Always a favourite themed bar. O'Neills is what you would expect from any of these bars in the country. A smaller venue than the Broad Street one, but still worth the craic !

Review of Pennyblacks

PennyBlacks
Good selection of food. Wide choice of beers and located in a nice surronding overlooking the canal by the Mailbox. A good place to star spot as it's right next to the BBC. A good place for a few friends or quiet place to have a meal in nice surrondings.

Review of The Medicine Bar
11 Apr 08, 16:30
Medicine Bar
Quite a cool, trendy place in the old custard factory in Digbeth. As well as the bar area there is a room for live music and generally has a good atmosphere away from the usual Broad Street scene.

Review of Yard Of Ale
11 Apr 08, 16:15
Yard of Ale
Just on New Street this is pub you might normally miss if you are shopping or heading to other more common places in Birmingham for a night out. It's a small pub but with friendly staff and is more of a local feel than some of the chain pubs. It seems to be the place where people will stop off rather than a place to end up but still good and a bit of a hidden gem.

Review of Square Peg

Square Peg
Located at the top of Corporation Street this is a good pub for meeting friends or a drink after work but does get busier in the evenings. Also quite an older crowd but not too noisy and generally a good atmosphere.
