Review of Oporto

Oporto Nights
If you are looking for a bustling, lively bar filled with noise, fashionable people, Jagermeister shots and the latest indie tunes at high decibels then Oporto ticks all the boxes. It is basially what is expected from a bar on Call Lane: pricey drinks (more so than some of the others bars in the vicinity, I would argue) and a trendy crowd with a myriad of sharp haircuts and sophistication. All that said, it is still a good port of call if you are on a classier type of bar crawl. Very, very busy both midweek and weekends, often too claustrophobic on a Friday for yours truly- count yourself lucky if you can grab a table. Has it's fair share of devotees, though I may not be one of them. I'll pop in for a couple anyway, preferably when it's someone elses round.

Review of The Cockpit

The Cockpit
Playing a host to a wide range of gigs many touring bands make the Cockpit te Leeds stop of their tour, especiall true of those in the indie genre; though metal and more alternative styles are also included. Local bands also grace the smaller stages on occasion. Crowd is fun and friendly and often quite studenty at Panic! or The Garage club nights. Various drinks, usually bottles, are on offer. This low roofed, 'under the arches' venue is often hot and sweaty so bear this in mind when dressing for mosh-worthy gigs. There is also a small bar area featuring acoustic nights. Good for dancing on a weekend if you don't mind a bit of a crush; rubbish for a quiet chat with your mates.
