Delicious
This restaurant is raved about, in every London restaurant review book or site. So I couldn't bring myself to give it five stars, because most visitor's expectations will be pretty high. However, you will not be disappointed. The food is superb.
If you like your restaurants swanky then skip this one - it used to be the canteen of the Vietnamese Community Centre and it's a bit shabby. But for those of us who can overlook that, it does have a lot of charm.
I go there fairly often, I've eaten from every part of the menu, and have never had a bad meal. My Aussie and American friends (who know their Vietnamese food) say it is amongst the best they've ever had.
The staff are friendly and the wonderful food is surprisingly good value.
On the down side: Service can occasionally be a little slow and the menu isn't especially vegetarian friendly if that veggie is strict.
You HAVE to make a reservation at the weekend or you will NOT get a table.

Amazing
This is my favourite Turkish food place in Dalston (and there are many). It is to the Turkish restaurant, what the workman's caff is to a British one - hearty food for healthy appetites, at reasonable prices. Don't bother with the long menu in the window, you'll wait ages and it will be disappointing, if you want restaurant food there are plenty of other places to go. Order at the counter from the trays steaming in the window. This is always a choice of tasty meat stews/casseroles plus a vegetarian option. The friendly staff will talk you through what's on offer as the short menu on the wall is in Turkish. Your meal will come with a basket of bread and a dish of olives, pickles and rocket. If you're extra hungry they also have soups and salads, and some very sweet desserts that all are very good. If you're there at the right time of day you can watch the making of (and then scoff) stuffed flatbreads. The turkish tea is good, the breakfasts are good. They are open all day from early in the morning, til late at night. They do takeout. They are perfect. I love them.

Consistently good
Very friendly, good service, tasty food, generous portions, proper bread, and the best omelettes I've ever had in a caff. There is no finer place to go with a hangover.
Aside from the excellent food, it also has the finest toilets I have ever seen in a caff.
