The China Garden has been around for years. It looks very upmarket and is immaculate with attentive staff who keep topping up your drinks. It's had a bit of bad press recently but it's still one of my favourites

Very tasty
A lebanese restaurant that also serves Iranian and Arabic food. Two thirds of the menu is veggie and many dishes are suitable for vegans.There's a very quick takeaway counter at the front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is suitably middle eastern with music redolent of ancient cities

The Gingerman has sister restaurants at drakes Hotel, and the Ginger Pig. Small and tucked away, perfect for intimate dates or lunches gossiping with your mates.Neutral, minimalist decor, wooden floor and brown leather chairs

It could have been invented for me
This place is more of an Indian Bistro than anything else, it looks just like a cafe but serves restaurant level food, and is very popular with those in the know. All the usual curries, snacks, side orders and a few different items such as taeka dall curry. Until recently it was completely veggie but not now

Beautiful designs
I recently went into this shop to look for curtains. They have a huge amount of fabric books, so many you don't know where to start, but they do a very good job helping you pick the right books to go with your taste. Really really nice designs, I'm sure they'd have something for everyone. They'll come round to your house to measure up for you. A good experience

Yum
You can't beat Wagamamas for every reason. The food is absolutely fantastic, great variety on the menu, and something for everyone. It's also extremely healthy, check out the fruit juices! It is also a very chilled out atmosphere with great service, so you can be in and out in your 45 minute lunch hour no probs.

Great pub
I've been going here for 10 years and it's always been the same. You can get some quick and easy bar food or they have the restaurant which you'll need to book for. Nothing beats a glass of wine in their garden although it is very popular when the sun comes out. A very atmospheric pub and surprisingly unpretentious

Great conference facities
This is a conference centre and hotel. It's got good conference facilities and the restaurant was really nice, massive variety, really nice salad bar.If you went to a conference there very often you'd get fat as you wouldn't be able to resist the pastries

This is a fantastic Thai, in a fantastic location on the Thames. It has fabulous food, a really good quality Thai menu, really delicious. It's brilliant in the summer to sit outside over looking the river, spending as much time as you want just relaxing, a perfect location

Great spot
When you're shopping on the King's road, it's always good to stop for somewhere to eat with your shopping partner and the Bluebird is a good choice. It's very easy, a nice simple menu, relaxed enviroment, and a good place to sit outside and watch the world go by if it's nice and sunny

A lovely curry, always so so important you chose a good Indian restaurant, and this is a good one. I like a veggie curry personally, and there's lots of choice of vegetable side dishes, the waiters are always efficent and you always leave with a full belly. can't go wrong here

Best Italian in Hove
This is a really good Italian in Hove, of which there are many, and they're all good but this may be the best. Great pizza, great pasta, good value, good service. It also does lots of other dishes, my favourite starter is the scallops with quails eggs, it's delicious

Great night out
This is a great comedy club, certainly the best one that I know of in Leicester It has a great little bar downstairs. The comedians are always great value, and afterwards it turns into a great party, open until late. A great night out for anyone who likes comedy and music

Geordie class
Perfectly located on the popular Newcastle Quayside the Malmaison Hotel is a great hotel. In a modern, style, this hotel makes you feel relaxed really quickly. It has a great spa with lots of really luxurious treatments, if you stay you really do have to treat yourself. The bar is a great place to chill out with mates, the restaurant has a great menu and scrummie food, and the rooms are all beautifully designed, if a tad on the small side. If you're lucky you'll get a great view of the Millenium bridge. Only negative is the breakfast takes forever!!

A good brand
Pretty much everyone knows what Ask is like, the chain has grown considerably over the past few years. This Ask on Silver Street in Leicester is one of the best ones I've been to. It's a great building, lots of character which you don't often get with this chain. The specials are always good as is the service. In the summer the outside area is really nice. i'd go for the pizza rather than the pasta but it's all good

Great Fish
Zilli Fish is pretty famous for all the right reason and it deserves to be.Perfectly located for the west end, it is busy at lunch and evenings as well as being popular with the pre theatre crowd .Great fish as well other italian dishes, ideal wine list as well as friendly ,fast service. Not the quietest restaurant with closely packed tables but always welcoming and vibrant and often frequented by its famous owner

True Brighton Style
I went in here for the first time at the weekend so I'm not a great expert, but it seemed like a great little bar. It had people spilling out onto the street which is always a good sign. It had great interior, that unique Brighton style, but very relaxed and laid back. Nice little booths for those in a group of people wanting to catch up over a cocktail.

Fat Cats is one of the best bars in Leicester. It's a good space, lots of comfy sofas, great music, and great atmosphere. It's also got a nice outside area which is great in the summer, and now also for smokers. A good place to go in the day or evening

Best bar on Braunstone Gate
This is definately the best bar on Braunstone Gate. A great little outside area for the summer and done really nicely inside, to make it a great place to meet friends for a drink. The foods good as well, although it's a better bar than it is a restaurant. If you're going out in this area, it is the best place to go

Great menu
This is an old established tapas restaurant. the menu is really varied, and it's all fab. The selection is great, you can really try things that you would never usually put together and really enjoy it. Barceloneta is a great looking restaurant, it really does make you feel like you're in Spain. It now has a great bar on the side of it, which allows you to spend the whole night there, a great plus, as there's not much around there other than that bar. Well recommended. You must try the meatballs

Great ranges
This department store has got to be the one with the most character, it's lovely. An old tudor building, it has a great feel to it even before you step inside. When you do go inside it doesn't let you down. Every department has good quality ranges, from clothes to accessories, cosmetics to homeware, a really great store

Excellent choice
The food in here is really good. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner this place is always popular and for good reason. Whether you chose the caesar salad, or the roast chicken, you really can't go wrong. Lovely atmosphere, good service, a really excellent choice. Old media haunt
Old and long established media haunt and often frequented by media celebreties, this restaurant never disappoints. Elaina herself ensures that the place runs with milatary precision without ever feeling pretentious, it is in fact quaint. Goats cheese and pepper tart to start and fish cakes with mushy peas to follow is a fantastic lunch

Interior design
This is an interior shop, they sell fabric for curtains and all soft furnishings. Great styles, lots of choice that gives you lots of inspiration for your own home. The owner Emma will provide a great interior design service, come to your house and pick out designs, well worth going for, as she has a real eye for what will look great.

If you fancy something quick, easy but substantial when you're shopping in the North laines this is a must. Really good quality pies, veggie options too, with mash potatoes and peas, served in an instant, with really thick crunchy pastry, yum!

As we were inexperienced at ordering tapas, having the waiter offer to order for us, made the whole meal more relaxing - quantity and variation was perfect. Food was good, lots of choice for veggies, reasonably priced wine and vibrant atmosphere. Worth the £30 a head. They even ordered us a taxi

Relaxation essential
Hotel Du Vin is a great place to just go and hide away for the weekend in a great enviroment. The good thing about the hotel du vin in henly on Thames is the fact that it's set in a lovely location so if fancy going for a walk and wondering round, the river is beautiful around there, perfect for the Spring/Summer. you have to eat in the restaurant, it's fab. try and book the room with the bath in the bedroom!

Shimla Pinks is really about taking a large group of people to a good quality Indian, which is pretty unique if you think about it, even in Leicester. This company sell very high quality bathroom accessories, such as bathroom cabinets. Usually glass or chrome, with lots of lighting. They even sell a solid silver toothpaste squeezer in case you can't be bothered! beautiful stuff but extremely expensive. Only for the loaded

Lovely food
This is a nice restaurant, lovely menu, the food is really good quality. It's in a good location, in the centre of Hove, and has lovely big windows letting in a lot of light, making it seem a lot bigger and spacious than it really is.

Waitrose, I think, is the best supermarket there is. Lovely food, that you just can't help treating yourself to. If you shopped at Waitrose every week you'd get very fat, as you won't be able to resist, especially the puddings!

Great place to meet with friends for drinks or dinner, casual and just the right atmosphere. They do all sorts of food, bangers and mash, fish to salads, but mainly an English menu. The have a Grand piano, definatley recommended

Great Gigs
The Brighton Centre is a great venue, it was built in the 70's and it shows, but that adds to it's character. Whenever I've been there, it's always been a great atmsophere, and it's a huge part of the Brighton scene. Last year I went to see some amazing gigs there, including The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Hard Fi, to name but a few.

Otellos is a great Italian restaurant in the centre of Hove. The menu is pretty much just pizza and pasta, but they do it very well. Probably the best place for pizza in Hove, which is saying something because there is loads of choice

Great day out at the Races
Plumpton Racecourse is set in a beautiful enviroment in the middle of Sussex. It's a small course, but offers you a great day out, especially if the weather's nice. It may be small, but the course is very well looked after and it's great fun watching the horses walking round the paddock before the race. The team at Plumpton are a very friendly bunch and really do a great job to look after everyone and make sure people are having a great time. If you get invited to a hospitlaity day there, take it, you'll have a brilliant day out

This shops is great for old furniture, especially antique wardrobes. They can source pretty much anything you like and it's always lovely stuff. It only looks like a small little shop but it has a lot in it, and if you're looking to buy some original pieces for your home it's great.

I took some friends here for New Year's Eve last year, we had a great night. The food in the restuarant was fantastic and the waiters were great fun. The bar is cosy, just the way I like it, and it was a great place to be for the turning of the year

Great Hove venue
The Tin Drum Hove is a great venue if you're eating or just going for a drink. It's best to eat there at lunch time, or they do a great breakfast, but in the evening it's more geared around being a bar. The atmsosphere is good and it's a great location in Hove
