Prepare to take a trip back to the 80's with prawn cocktail, steak and chips and creme caramel or sherry trifle on the menu.There's been a change of ownership recently but it's still as good as ever, you know what you're getting

Immaculate 
The China Garden has been around for years. It looks very upmarket and is immaculate with attentive staff who keep topping up your drinks. It's had a bit of bad press recently but it's still one of my favourites

Vast menu
Anyone for seafood porridge? This vast efficient restaurant has almost 200 dishes, there's pretty much every chinese dish you can think of. Ever tried deep fried ice cream? No me neither but it's on the menu!

Very tasty
A lebanese restaurant that also serves Iranian and Arabic food. Two thirds of the menu is veggie and many dishes are suitable for vegans.There's a very quick takeaway counter at the front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is suitably middle eastern with music redolent of ancient cities

It could have been invented for me
This place is more of an Indian Bistro than anything else, it looks just like a cafe but serves restaurant level food, and is very popular with those in the know. All the usual curries, snacks, side orders and a few different items such as taeka dall curry. Until recently it was completely veggie but not now

Really imaginative veggie food. Terre a Terre has a lovely selection of lovely things from the tapas menu and is perfect for people who can't chose what to have. It's a well known Brighton veggie restaurant. Closed on Mondays

Safe bet 
Cafe Rouge is a safe bet, if you just fancy a bite to eat and don't want to have to think about where to go, or worry about it too much, then this is your place. The food is adequate, there's something for everyone, and it's quick, easy and reasonably cheap

Great outside area
Strada does very well because it's in a great location just before you go into the North Laines, and it also has a great outside area which is lovely in the summer. The food is always good, you know what you're getting at Strada.

This shop is lush 
I love this shop. you could spend hours.......and a fortune here if you weren't really disciplined. It has a lot of very girly things for your home, little trinkets, I bought some glass coasters and a perfume bottle. They do great underwear and clothes too, especially lovely shoes, i couldn't resist!! I challenge any girl not to go in there and love it

Modern style furnishings
This is a great little shop, lots of great pieces of furniture and accessories for your home, mainly in a modern style.They do a great selection of kitchen ware, bedroom furniture, some great lighting and dining furniture. Well worth a visit

Yummy pies
If you fancy something quick, easy but substantial when you're shopping in the North laines this is a must. Really good quality pies, veggie options too, with mash potatoes and peas, served in an instant, with really thick crunchy pastry, yum!

Veggie delight
Excellent restaurant. I'm a meat eater so I was sceptical as to the variety of food that would be available but actually this restaurant could have turned me vegetarian. There was an extensive menu, we decided on a curry, three different types, which was gorgeous. Service was upbeat to say the least, and we were really looked after. Would definately return

tasty tapas
As we were inexperienced at ordering tapas, having the waiter offer to order for us, made the whole meal more relaxing - quantity and variation was perfect. Food was good, lots of choice for veggies, reasonably priced wine and vibrant atmosphere. Worth the £30 a head. They even ordered us a taxi

Try too hard
I used to love Karen Millen, but I'm not sure if I changed or they did. It's now a little too try hard, and, without being snobby, a bit too cheap looking, without actually being cheap. Not my kind of shop anymore.

Seafront cafe
The best thing about this cafe is the location. Right in the middle of it all, it's on the seafront in the thick of things. The food is good too, nice pitta bread, humous, olives etc. The nicest cafe on the seafront

You could spend a fortune
I could buy everything in this shop, I absolutely love it. It's simular to Reiss in that it has it's unique style, you can tell it's from Whistles, which is good for a high street shop. But it's all fairly different and stands out. Love the dresses and tops especially. This shop should not be entered unless you're prepared to spend money otherwise you'd leave feeling depressed

Waitrose, I think, is the best supermarket there is. Lovely food, that you just can't help treating yourself to. If you shopped at Waitrose every week you'd get very fat, as you won't be able to resist, especially the puddings!

Lovely cakes
Lovely cakes, great coffee, great enviroment, french staff. All in all a good little cafe. Would be a lot lot better if they provided a good service, sometimes they can be a bit slow. But on a saturday morning, over a cup of coffee and the newspapers, it doesn't really matter

Great Gigs
The Brighton Centre is a great venue, it was built in the 70's and it shows, but that adds to it's character. Whenever I've been there, it's always been a great atmsophere, and it's a huge part of the Brighton scene. Last year I went to see some amazing gigs there, including The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Hard Fi, to name but a few.

Brilliant Venue
Komedia is a great venue for many reasons. The main reason though, is because it has so many good gigs there, you could pretty much keep yourself interested all year round. It's not just comedy, they have a great list of artists that you can get up close and personal with. It holds a couple of hundred, so it's nice an intimate, but a great enviroment.

Mighty Burgers
Gourmet Burgers is conveniently located next to Komedia, which is great if you're going to a gig and only have a quick half an hour to eat beforehand. Gourmet Burger allows you to eat a good quality burger in no time at all, perfect. Personally, I like the thai chicket burger, but the variety is substantial so you could chose whatever you like, they probably have over 20 different options to chose from. Well worth a visit

Fantastic Fish
This restaurant is perfect for every reason. It's great if you're just having a walk on the seafront and fancy a coffee, brilliant for lunch or for dinner. The food is sourced locally, they're very focussed on sustainability. The fish is to die for!

The only place to have seafood is by the sea. This restaurant get it right. It's a great looking place, in a nice enviroment, and the food is fantastic. They've also just opened another one up in Hove, which is just as good

Great Night Out
I took some friends here for New Year's Eve last year, we had a great night. The food in the restuarant was fantastic and the waiters were great fun. The bar is cosy, just the way I like it, and it was a great place to be for the turning of the year

Good store for Brighton
i like the clothes they sell in Jack Wills, it's just the right style for chilling out on Brighton beach. It's good quality stuff, if a little pricey. Don't feel too concerned if you can't fit in your normal size though, they come up small!
