Disappointing

I hadn't been to see a film here for a while but thought I'd give it a try.

This is a slightly old-style cinema and the decor seems a bit dated in places. The screen I was in had poor sound and I was struggling to hear what was going on in the film at times. Also the seat was quite uncomfortable and I was suffering from a "numb bum" about half-way through the film.

Review of Mandarin Restaurant

Great for lunch

Just been here for lunch and it was well worth the visit. A 4course lunch for a £5 between 12 and 2pm during the week is a bargain! This lunch consists of prawn crackers, a choice of soups, a choice of main courses & tea or coffee to finish.

The service is excellent and the food is good too.

Good chinese

I had a take-away from here the other night and it was really good. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is above average for this type of place.

Given that it's just round the corner from my house you can bet I'll be going back to this place again & again.

Card shop

This is a pretty good card shop situated right in the middle of the Dolphin Centre. It has had a recent refurb so much so that it still had a new carpet smell when I visited!

They do a great selection of cards for all occasions as well as wrapping paper and quirky gifts.

I had to queue for a short while to pay for my stuff as there was only one till open on a busy Saturday afternoon which was disappointing.

Review of TK Maxx

Worth a visit

Slightly better than average TK Maxx store as it doesn't feel like a jumble sale with clothes piled up everywhere. The clothes are arranged by style and size and it's usually fairly easy to find something you might like.

There's only a couple of till points so if it gets busy you might have to queue up to pay also the car park outside gets really busy at weekends.

Not any more

This store is now closed and has been replaced by 2 new stores on the same site - Dunelm Mill and The Range.

It was closed after B&Q decided to rationalise their local stores as they have large stores at Fleetsbridge and Castlepoint.

It's gone

Don't bother going to get your DIY stuff from here it's closed down. It used to be quite handy situated just up from the town centre and opposite the station but as there's a large store at Castlepoint this store was shut.

Mmm Chinese

Visiting the area I was looking for a good chinese meal and I was not disappointed. The food was good but the atmosphere was a bit lacking as there weren't that many people eating here on a week night. That said the staff were very attentive and not over-bearing even though it was quiet.

There is a varied menu with prices pretty much what you'd expect to pay for good chinese food. I'd definitely eat here again.

Review of Seychells Fish & Chips

Nice fish & chips

Popped into this place fairly late one evening and had a nice cod & chips. The staff are really friendly and the food came piping hot.

Nice batter on the fish, not too greasy and the chips were really good as well, it certainly filled me on a cold cold night.
