Review of The Larder

Sandwichissimo 5*

The BLT's are delightful here and the home made in front of you service really gives this place a bit of a unique feel to it. However at £3.40 its probably the most expensive sandwich around. But i think its value for money and they sell lots of trendy alternative foods and drinks to go with the sandwich. You can make your own sandwich as well from the selection of meats, salad and sauces they have to offer. Try a cheese and chicken sandwich with Mayo with a slice of black forest Gateuax.

Review of Bar Hairdressing

Very Good but Small Hairdressers 5*

I went here a few days ago on a recommendation. They are open til 8pm on a weekday which I took full advantage of rather than wasting hours of my precious weekend sitting in a busy barbershop. I had the unique pleasure of having my haircut by the boss who seemed friendly, down to earth and very good at his job. I'd defintely recommend this place to anyone.

Review of Korova

Fun throughout the day 5*

Korova is one of Liverpool's premier music venues that hosts great new acts from all over the North. Since opening the bar, part owned by Liverpool's very own Ladytron, has seen acts ranging from Hot Club de Paris, The Longblondes, The Spinto Band and the Whip jump onto it's stage.

The bar is also home to a tasty cafe that serves stuff for lunch and bigger meals. Try the Jerk Chicken.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Korovian, the bi-monthly mag that showcase the Pool's brightest creative talent. Well worth a vist, and a read, if you are in the area.

A full Flavour Irish Pub 5*

As you can probably tell by the name, Fagan's on Broad Lane is an Irish pub but not in the tacky mold of an O'Neills. Its a cracking little pub; friendly, unpretentious, full of character, excellent beer and a some really tasty food as well. They do a lot of live music usually at the weekend with a distinct Irish flavor and this merely adds to an already great atmosphere. One of the better pubs in Sheffield City Centre.

Review of The Tut 'n' Shive

13 Nov 07, 14:42

One of My Favourite Pubs in Doncaster 5*

The Tut and Shive is one of my favourite Pubs in Doncaster. Great Jukebox but a very small pub, so it has a distinct lack of seating, but it attracts a young and lively crowd and a very quick bar service. My only grumble with this pub is the small and dirty toilets with some kind of old British Rail look to them. I've spent many a night here and will no doubt do so in the future. Theres a pub quiz on Sundays that I recommend you come too and if you like big screen sports come here.

Review of The Salutation

13 Nov 07, 14:40

One of the Best Pubs in Doncaster 5*

For me The Salutation is one of the best pubs in Doncaster along with the Tut and Shive. It is a small pub, but its got a lot of drinks available including ales, a weekly pub quiz as well as an obligatory quiz machine in the corner, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. I think its great value for money but try and get there early on a weekend to get a seat as theres not much room to stand.

Review of The Sailmakers Arms

Fantastic Pub with lots of Character 5*

I really like this place. Its got a lot of character. When you walk up to the pub you enter via a large courtyard which had tubes running a long the top of the wall. This is because they have ferrets living in the pub that wander around the tubes in the courtyard for some fresh air! When you walk in, its clean, bright, warm and friendly. Its not a big pub so service is quick, but surprisingly it has a large selection of drinks. Its a bit off the city pub crawl routes but its well worth taking a detour to fit it in.

Review of Welly Club

Best Nightclub in Hull 5*

My favourite nightclub in Hull. Its best to come here for the Rock and Indie night when theres a good atmosphere and a great selection of tracks played. They play a lot more live bands here in the now refurbished main room and they also have a Club NME night on a Thursday. They usually have a drinks offer on every night like 2 bottles of beer for £3 which means you can have a cheap night out as well as having a laugh. I definitely recommend everyone to go here at some point.

Review of The Lamp

13 Nov 07, 12:44

Fantastic Bar near City Centre 5*

The Lamp on Norfolk Street is one of my favourite bars in Hull. Its basically a detached house just off the busy crossroad outside the city center boundary. Its got a very arty feel to it inside, very much the place that would have comfy sofas with old church pews for seating scattered about. In the back of the bar there are several pool tables which are quite cheap to play. They also do reasonably priced beer pitchers but what really sets this bar apart is the lively atmosphere this place has making it a great place to drink.

Review of Gardeners Arms

13 Nov 07, 12:38

Superb Pub especially In Summer 5*

The Gardeners is one of only a handful of pubs I can think with an outside beer garden on the front. It also overlooks one of the busiest roads in Hull but this is insignificant especially in the summertime when pretty much everyone student in the are descends on the place. Its actually got two parts to it inside. The main entrance leads to a small bar where the old features dominate the interior. If you go round the side there is another entrance that leads to a new bit built on. Here you will find loads of pool tables, video jukebox and quiz machines plus a few drink offers. This is a great pub day or night, rain or shine.

Review of Mr Chu's

Best Chinese Restaurant Probably in the UK 5*

Someone told me this was the largest Chinese restaurant in the UK. It's certainly the best Chinese restaurant I've been too. The food is fantastic, served quickly and the views over the River Humber are just wonderful to look at. The only problem with the restaurant is that unless you have a car its very difficult to get too. There is a bus nearby but its still a bit of a walk and the bus isn't that regular. But despite this problem its still a fantastic restaurant and I urge you to go and eat there.

Review of Chiquito's

13 Nov 07, 11:16

One of the best Restaurants in Hull 5*

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Hull. They do fantastic cocktails here and on a weekday evening they often do cocktail offers. The food is fantastic as well especially the Chicken Fatija. Service is quick and the price was a bit less than I thought it might be. Its a big restaurant near the Odean cinema so they get busy on the weekends especially in the evening so if you prefer I more relaxed atmosphere when dining I would recommend coming on a weekday evening, even if its just to take advantage of the cocktail offers.

Review of Planet Coffee

13 Nov 07, 11:10

Best Coffee Shop on Newlands Avenue 5*

I liked Planet Coffee, i think its the biggest on Newland Avenue and probably the best. Its bright and airy inside with several comfy sofas inside which give it a nice homely feel. I actually had a Hot Chocolate here as I'm not a big fan of coffee and found it to be really creamy and good value for money. It does get busy here so try and avoid going on weekends if you don't like hanging around for somewhere to sit.

Review of Fair Maid

13 Nov 07, 11:04

Super Food and Super Facilities 5*

Probably the best pub in Cottingham, it big, the food menu is a lot better than many other places although it is pricey but you get a fair sized portion. They used to have free refillable coke so the students used to take advantage of this offer all the time. It also has a beer garden, a big screen for sports, a poor table and quiz machine and a hidden mens toilet that you find by pushing a bookshelf.

Review of The Wheatley Hotel

13 Nov 07, 10:12

Really Great Local Pub 5*

This was my local for many years. It's basically a hotel with a large bar downstairs. It terms of facilities this place has a lot. A large seating outside the pub and back, a function room, a car park and it also serves pub lunch most days of the week. Theres a lot of staff so service is quick and the drinks prices are very reasonable. I really like it here, it has a relaxed atmosphere but also the more lively vibe you get in a town center pub due to more younger people coming here to drink. I think the best time to visit thou is during thew summer to enjoy the beer garden.

Review of The Faltering Fullback

10 May 07, 23:25

Best Pub in North London 5*

This is one of those pubs only people in the 'know' are aware of because its nestled away in the back streets of finsbury park. But It's well worth going too. Everything about this pub is beautiful to look at. Outside the pub is covered in Ivy leaves and flowers, inside the bar there are childhood items hanging off the roof. Theres a good atmosphere as well plus they have a small kitchen sevring thai food and they have a screens for all the big sports games. It is an Arsenal pub but they will show the spurs games as well. If you like pubs with lots of character, this is the place for you.

Review of The Flask

08 May 07, 12:34

Smashing Pub 5*

I found the Flask purely by accident whilst looking for pub's in Highgate. What a great find! Not only do they have a great selection of drinks including the wonderful Fruli Strawberry Beer on tap, they have a large outdoor seating area, mostly sheltered and heated for the winter. Inside the pub is quite small but its tastefully done and it has a good selection of food. Your first port of call for anyone going to Highgate for drinks.
