Review of Weatherspoon

18 Apr 08, 11:33

smelly 2*

Although it's a weatherspoons pub, which generally means cheap beer! I hate the fact it used to be the old picture house cinema in stafford. I loved going there to watch Jurassic park back in the day, and now I find myself occassionally popping in there for a £1.30 pint of carling! but I cannot stand the stench by the bar. It smells like sewerage to be honest. It's almost like they're pumping the beer from the River Sow, which is situated just behind the pub.

Review of Reflex The 80's Bar

Reflex 4*

I thought this plave was smashing to be honest, but maybe I'm easily pleased. Admittedly, I've only been once with some work colleagues but I found the var staff very pleasant and the drinks reasonably priced, but the dance floor is a little strangely shaped for me, as it seems to be split into 2. and of course if you like your retro stylee music, or more effectionately known to me as cheese, then I recommend a night out in here. Cheap drinks and cheese!

Review of Liquid Nightclub

18 Apr 08, 11:44

choonage! 4*

The music's spot on in here, with Jumpin jacks adjacent to liquid once you get in. 3 floors of music for everyone sort of! Dance downstairs, R'n B upstairs and cheese next door in Jacks! The only negatives are the expensive beer and you do tend to get the girls that look as if they still go to school, but apart from that, it's a good club in a good location, away from the idiots in the centre of Hanley!

Review of Precinct Styles

bob for a new bob 3*

Its a bit of a walk upto the precincts hairdressers. My dad used to take me here when i was a kid for my haircut, and the same blokes work in the barbers shop as they did back in the day. They must be about 150 years old between them. 1 of the blokes is really nice, the other is a bit of a misery arse at times and seems quite rude. Although, its a good clean cut at a reasonable rate - £7.50 a go, which in todays climate is a bargain to get your mop chopped!

Review of The Yard

18 Apr 08, 12:11

new pub 4*

the location is pretty nice. its situated right on the banks of the river sow in stafford, and as you can imagine, during summer is lovely just sitting outside under the umbrellas drinking nice cold pints of lager. The staff are really nice and always seem very happy behind the bar. The beers not too cheap, but I suppose you expect that anyhow with beer prices nowadays. The layout inside is lush, and theres plenty of room with big widescreens in the bar for live sports and stuff, and its always busy. It must be good cos' I'm usually found in there on a night out.

Review of Litten Tree

grotty 1*

The location is ideal, right on the high street alongside the river sow, but don't be decieved. Once the place in stafford to be seen in, but not anymore since the arrival of the yard or the refurb of the swann in the middle of town. It is in serious need of a lick of paint, and the staff are miserable gits, who never seem to be able to put a smile on their face. The only good thing for me is the gigantic TV screens for football, and although it does get busy at weekends, it's only ever heaving when England matches are on. The musics ok, but the speakers seem to be on one side of the bar, so if you stand on the other side, you can't hear a jot. Tuesdays is full of students, so the tunes the DJ plays is dance and R'n' B, and its the same on a weekend, but you never hear cheese.

Review of Druckers Vienna Patisserie

18 Apr 08, 12:21

not all that 2*

The food and coffee is nice in this place, but as its situated right next to one of the entrances in the guildhall its a bit of a strange layout. The staff are very polite though, and they even bring your orders to the table which is a rarety in stafford let me tell you.

It does need a bit of a change with the seating cos the chairs are rock hard!
