Review of Boat House

Beautiful location shame about the football
An idyllic located River Thames pub overlooking the historical Wallingford Bridge. You can get on a boat from here that takes you up or down stream in the summer months. Opposite is an outdoor swimming pool and you can walk into the town centre. Sounds too good to be true!
One down fall, its full of young ones drinking too much and too many large screens. If you thought of getting away from the football - think again!.
Best avoided when the River Thames is floaded as you wont be able to sit on the terrace - nor walk down the beautiful steps leading down to the river.

Best Around?
I was told this was the best garage around to take your car for a service.
Well, I took my car there three times for minor problems and each time the problem it went in with was fixed but came out with another one.
Shame, I bought a new car recently and went in to buy a new car but the salesman didn't want to sell me one. So I decided to go to Abingdon instead.

When is a garage not a garage...
...when it becomes a supermarket.
Best avoided if you just want to get petrol quick as you have to queue behind cars that have decided to do their weekly shop.
Don't get me wrong the quality is great - what you expect from M&S - but the staff aren't helpful.
You also have a McDonalds within walking distance and I have had to queue behind someone whilst the passenger collected a McDonalds!

Not worth it
Went to get some summer bedding and they really didn't have much of a selection at all. Nothing looked healthy and I couldn't find any staff to help me.

Review of The Crazybear Hotel

nice outside, shame about the interior
This pub is great for the younger generation. It looks like a quaint country pub on the outside with great chunky outside tables but as soon as you walk in its another story.
BLACK and DARK with loud music and VERY EXPENSIVE.
We cycled over and asked for a pint of beer and a barcadi and coke and when I got the receipt they charged me £2.50 for a splash of coca cola. The first and last time I visit that pub. I must be different to others as everyone else I speak to they think its great!
Go and see for yourself I think!

Bit Expensive
A modern pub on the inside but a quaint looking pub from the outside.
A group of us went recently and we all agreed it was a little expensive for what we got. We didn't think much of the service as the person serving behind the bar was also trying to serve our table of 12!
I think they are trying to compete with the pub literally next door but in my opinion The Green Man gets the thumbs up!

PUB WITH NO FOOD!
I bet you can't find another traditional pub that isn't a resataurant.
A quaint village to go cycling to and when thirsty (not hungary) pop into The Catherine Wheel for a quick drink and chat with the landlord. He can tell you everything about the village and people.
You can grab a packet of crisps but not much else.
Worth a visit.

Review of Fleur De Lys Inn

No atmosphere
When I first moved to the village this pub was the best. The landlord had been there 30 years and it was a really village pub. Sits opposite The Abbey in the heart of the village.
Since then (under 5 years) they have had 4 different landlords. The food has been rubbish. They slapped some paint on the walls and took away all the characteristics of a traditional pub. It attracts youngsters (under age I think!). Best avoided - suggest you try either The George Hotel or The White Hart Hotel.

Better in the good old days
Unfortunately this pub has changed hands several times and they still haven't got it right. You cannot beat the idillic location and interior but for some reason (which locals can't work out) it's just not right.
If you're having a walk and get thirsty then yes pop in for a drink but go elsewhere for food - for now anyway!
