Alexander P have you ever been to the George?????????? 
My word. The George HOTEL is in South Molton, it is far from a village pub and no where near Hatherleigh which is easily 45 minutes drive away!!!! The George hotel is a well respected venue in DSouth Molton, often hosting live music evenings and local dinner nights. The rooms are of a high standard and at such a good rate, book early to avoid disapointment.

They do offer very competative quotes, i also find that with insurance needs it is lovelly to have a local branch to go into with quierys instead of having to call a call centre in the middle of no where.

Friendly branch.
This branch of NFU is very open plan. As you walk in you can see the whole office working away at their desks from behind a plastic shield. With just one member of staff in the position to greet you and deal with your queries.

Step back in time
When you walk through the huge and heavy wooden doors to this bank it does somehow feel like you are stepping back in time a little. The have massive plastic shields partitioning the customers from the staff. Of course they have all the mod cons like alll other banks but they are not so obviously on show.

I remember the last time i came in here, the chap behind the counter was wearing a monacle!! I'll never forget!!! This i a traditional clock repair shop with a lovelly traditional set of owners, They won't rip you off and will make sure you are completely happy.

Old school 
I love it in Vision On. The service is fab, after just a couple of visits, you will feel like you are borrowing dvds off a friend not a shop. There is a good selection and you won't be stung too badly if you forget to return them by a day or two.

Don't blink!
You might miss them! This shop is hard to spot if you are not looking for it. In my opinion. They offer a great service though. I completely scuffed up a lovelly pair of boots, these guys got them looking like new again.

Bloomin ages
This place has been around for an age. The chaps in here just plod along day after day, showing grannys how to use a remote control. They really do do a sterling job. They love their electronics and will take all day to explain and make sure you understand the product you are buying.

Organic is the way forward
Organic food stockists sometimes go overboard of on the prices just because they can. Griffins don't which is refreshing. They have a great range and whatevder your food preference, glueten free, wheat free etc. They are bound to have it.

The jewellry in this shop always seems a little bit dated. Maybe because South Molton is in a little time warp of its own. The prices are ok, if not a little steep. The service is fab but the stock is probably more suited to my mum than me.

Arghh i love Watkins
It is so nice to see a family run business doing so well and sticking around so long. This place is an up market pound shop. It is full of bits and bobs from cheap shampoo to bumper packs of lighters. The shop is run but the Watkins family who are all lovelly and deliver fabulous service every time.

Ooooh my, if you are a fan of choccie than you need to visit Melchior Chocolates. You will be truly surprised at the amount available, from caramel fillings to coffee, truffel, strawberry, cookie.....ooooh i could go on but i need to go out to buy some choc.

Take a leaf
But don't bake it. These guys should take a leaf out of some of the other local bakeries book. They charge so much more for their pasties and cakes. Yes the standard is good, but take my advice and seek out a tucked away bakery for better value for money...just follow your nose.

Chanters is a local bakery, always buzzing with hungry workers at lunch time. Crikey teir pasties are so good we used to skip out of school at lunch time just to get our grubby mitts on a sausage roll! Good cheap prices with quality meats and filings. Perfik!

George Arcade doesn't get the passers by t deserves - usually because people are intimidated by the crowds of kids hangign around. Those kids should go to this shop and open their minds. It is full of imagination stirring craft bits. Great for keepingkids off the street and good prices too.

Thres alot of years in Molton
South Molton goes back so many years. It used to be a really rural farmingcommunty and it you fancy having a look at how it all used to be before all the houses were built then visit the museum, Great to see the old cattle markets in full swing. Worth a visit.

The yard at Griffins just gets absolutely littered with people and their exhibitions. Quite amusing to see the locals squabble over a place to display. Worth a look around, it may open your eyes a wee bit.

This place has just been re vamped and renamed as far as i am aware. Located on an island in the middle of South Molton Square. Great cuppa and cake from here. The shop is a bit tacky but the tourists love it.

South Molton really isn't the type of town to embrace a wine bar. Since stumbles opened it has seen regular molton folk dress up and try to be sophisticated! It just doesn't fit. A lovelly wine bar though, a bit pricey but it has class.

The butchers used to be one of the best pubs ever. Located at the bottom of the hill in Alswear. They used to do steak eating competitions. Such fun! It really is a shame it is no longer there.

George Nympton is a small little village, you rarley catch people travelling from South Molton for a drink here. It is very much a local pub for local people. If you do venture out be prepared for the whole pub to stare at you as you enter.

The Northgate is new ish. Its a great place to go for a drink but unfortunatly it is set so far out of South Molton on the A361 roundabout that it is more the place you would go for a meal, not just a drink. Carvery on Sundays is just delicious!

You just know what you are to expect when you pull up in here. It is a small place with just a few cars, located net to the best mechanic in the area which is handy. Not too many cars to choose from but always worth a look. Local service and a locally run business. Well priced and reliable.

South Molton Pine have a fabulous variety of pieces. All beautifully finished and at reasonable prices. If you are planning to buy furniture, don't use big chain stores that deliver flat packed stuff, use your local shops.

A family favourite
Andy Geen is a great mechanic, my family have been taking our cars to only him since our alien spaceship landed us in North Devon. I also know alot of other familys that do the same. I would never take my car to anyone else and travel 20 miles to see him. Highly recommended. An honest hard working local mechanic.

So many years!
I have used South Molton Taxis on a regular basis since i was 12 years old. They still have most of the drivers now that they did back then! They are reasonable, and the drivers are so very friendly and look after all their fares brilliantly. Highly recommended from me.

There isn't much room for stock in this little store. But they have the basics. It is not a highly priced as most convenience stores but is still a little high. The service though is great, always a smile and time for a bit of banter while you pack your washing powder and penny sweets into the bag.

A spar is a spar. It is overpriced and has a poor selection. The staff are generally ok but if you catch them on a bad day, you had best wear your protective goggles and crash hemet. It would somehow make up for the really high prices if they could force a smile.

There used to be only 1 place to get fish and chips in South Molton. Then as if by magic, along came the Honeycombe. They offer a wide selection of meals at a good price. My advise is to go for the honeycombe special burger. loaded with gorgeous food, its so big you will have to take it apart to fit it in your mouth,

The 'Tivvi'
Another favourite with the locals. This place is buzzing at the weekends, the beer is cheap and the staff are ok. There is a jukebox, which means you may have to enjoy your drink to the whining of 'I'm a barbie girl' in the background if a group of young uns thinks its funny to play it! Generally an ok pub.

'The Coach and Spin'
This pub is ok. It is the only bar to stay open late in South Molton at the weekend, resulting in heards of drinkers heading for the doors as soon as the pubs close. Drinks are slightly pricey and they charge to get in too! Boooo!!
