Review of The Gap

13 May 08, 09:40

Good size 3*

I went in here for the first time at the weekend - it seemed to be the only air conditioned shop on Fosse Park! It's large and really spacious so you can see stuff clearly. The really annoying thing though is with those hangers whenever you touch anything it just falls down straight away. I kept doing it so just gave up in the end. Gap is good for T-shirts and plain bits for summer. Plus, on a hot day, head for this shop on Fosse Park because all the others are like saunas...

Review of Cult Clothing Co

Great clothes - pricey 4*

This place does fantastic clothing - great trousers. But it is pretty expensive. I used to get the bus over to Oxford specifically to come to this place. The hoodies are amazing too. Staff always seem nice (I had to go and pester some of them a while ago re. some work stuff and they were really nice). It's very cool, but not so cool they make you feel like a freaky weird alien who doesn't belong... like Billabong in Milton Keynes where they're all too cool for school and only wear flip flops. Lush clothes, worth a trip!

Review of Matalan

03 May 08, 12:31

Great value but LOOOONG queues 4*

Matalan is great. This shop in particular is huge and in the last couple of years they've really raised their game and are producing really fashionable, amazing value clothing. The quality of Matalan is also really good. I bought a gorgeous scarf there last week for £3 and a belt for £3. You'd pay £30 for both in Next easily. They're also ideal for holiday shopping because they have loads of great summer items in at the moment. One thing that really does annoy me though is a) the queues (get more staff!) and b) the fact you need that irritating Matalan card whenever you shop - why??? Anyway, for bargains and loads of choice this shop in Bletchley is great. They do loads of homeware stuff so if you want canvas' etc, it's perfect.

Review of Stables Boutique

29 Apr 08, 13:10

Stables Boutique 4*

This place is for older women admittedly, and it's very expensive, but it's a gorgeous place to have a look around. It's set in Stowe Castle which overlooks Stowe Landscape Gardens and House. It is all very grand. As you enter there's a beautiful gift shop, and then up the stairs is the clothing section. It would be the ideal place to take your mum if you're stuck for something to do. It is very pricey, but the quality of the clothing is second to none. The best thing about it is that the clothing is very unique... you won't find endless copies of the same top on the rail

Review of Jane Norman

Nice clothes.... if you're a manikin 1*

If you are either a manikin, an under-developed 14 year old, or both, then you'll find loads of clothes in here... if you are a real woman with proper decent hips the way God intended they should be, then good luck finding something to fit! I went in today and the size 12 dress looked tiny. Nothing like shops like these to help make you feel like an elephant. But who cares. Skinny isn't sexy. Go somewhere where real women are made to feel wanted... they bang on about magazines and the media being the main cause of female insecurity, well they need to look at ridiculous shops like these. Have you seen the manikins in the window? They make Victoria Beckham look fat. So you won't catch me shopping anywhere like that. Nice clothes - just make them for real women, and not skinny little girls!

Review of Wallis

28 Apr 08, 15:38

What's happened? 2*

What has happened to Wallis? I went in here today and was really disappointed by the lack of choice... it seems to have ages massively. I don't know if they've changed their target market but it's the kind of place designed for 40 year olds. The jewellery is gorgeous but unless you want to look like you're advertising an anti-age facial cream then I would recommend you go somewhere else... very little choice and not much for your money

Review of Karen Millen

Beautiful detail 4*

On a busy day in Milton Keynes Shopping Centre, this shop is a bit like an oasis of calm because it's never too busy and it has a great layout. The clothes are absolutely stunning (well out of my price range) but if you do want to treat yourself, then this is the place to go. They do beautiful detailing on the clothing and because of the way the shop is designed, you feel like you can see everything clearly without being bashed and bruised by other shoppers. Definitely a shop for those wanting to feel spoilt! It's in the new part near to Waterstone's and Topshop...

Review of Laura Ashley

24 Apr 08, 16:07

Great quality - very pricey 4*

I disliked Laura Ashley for years, it was a trauma effect from when my indecisive mother would drag me round there for hours as she ummed and aahed about clothes she couldn't afford anyway... it always used to be a bit for the middle-aged, but I have to say, they do sell some gorgeous clothes in there now. I saw a stunning dress for around £120 so it's pricey, but the quality is really high and it's a really nice, quiet shop. If you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket and fancy feeling a bit like Kate Middleton for the afternoon, you should pop in!

Review of Primark

24 Apr 08, 09:29

The best primark you'll find 5*

Oh yes... this is how all Primarks should be. It's massive, it's cheap and it's really light and airy. Plus the staff seem very efficient and friendly. This is the cream of the Primark-shopping-world so it's definitely worth a day out in Oxford for alone...

Review of Republic

24 Apr 08, 09:28

Small 2*

I always feel a bit intimidated going in shops like this - they're a bit cool for me. It's VERY expensive and even if I had the money I wouldn't spend it there. Two tops for £50 - oh bargain. NOT. Staff seem OK but a bit cool for school.... the shop is TINY so don't even THINK of entering if your hands are full of shopping bags

Review of Primark

24 Apr 08, 09:26

Cheap - but be preared to wait 2*

I like Primark a lot, but Northampton's isn't great. The one in Oxford is FAB! But the choice here always seems a bit limited as stuff goes so quickly. Plus their matching underwear is always weird... the bras seem to be made out of paper and when you're like me and need a good lot of padding (!) it's not ideal. The queues are always really long, staff miserable and security guards just seem to hang around making you feel like you're doing something naughty....

Review of Zara

23 Apr 08, 12:30

Gorgeous 5*

I love Zara. Their clothes last ages and this shop in particular is generally such a great place to shop in terms of space, layout and high number of staff. If I could afford it (if only!!) everything I owned would be from this shop...
