Review of Mayfair Estates
13 Nov 07, 18:47
Residents Beware
Mayfair are one of the main agents letting apartments in the South Manchester area. The flats are generally contained in building entirely run by the company, and maintenance is of a reasonable standard. Prospective residents may be warned though, that there can be problems during the moving in period, particularly with regard to the provision of furniture. Communication is also not Mayfair's forte.

Review of Swan Street Pet Shop
11 Nov 07, 23:59
Furry (and scaly) Friends
Swan Street Pet Shop specialises in reptiles and fish, but also carries supplies for more common pets like hamsters and cats. Prices are excellent, and the staff friendly, but the real stars of the show are the lizards, a large adult chameleon and a bearded dragon called Richie, who lives on the counter. The store also offers a pet boarding, for pet owners looking to house their furry or scaly friends whilst on holiday.

A Purrfect Treat
A small independent pet store serving the South Manchester area, Richie's Purrfect Pets has all you will need for most common household animals, and some more exotic creatures beside. The shop specialises in birds, with plenty of exotic breeds on show, and kids will be entertained for hours. Prices are very reasonable, and shoppers will be able to pick up anything they need.

Review of Cafe Muse
11 Nov 07, 23:35
Musing on History
Connected to the Manchester Museum, Cafe Muse is an excellent place to relax and enjoy a great lunch in the heart of Manchester's academia. Dishes are light and continental with a Danish slant, including meatballs, soups, salads, pasta and a wide children's menu. The seating area is comfortable and relaxing, and Cafe Muse is a great place to meet up with friends over lunch.

Review of New Victoria Theatre

Versatile
A local repartory company with a growing reputation, The New Victoria Theatre produces a wide range of drama, comedy, musicals and children's shows at Christmas. The plays generally have small casts, with actors showing their versatility in a range of roles, often providing a musical accompaniment as well. Smaller touring productions are housed in an adjoining studio.

Review of Stoke on Trent Film Theatre
11 Nov 07, 23:25
Truly Independent Cinema
Proud of its status as Britain's only truly independent cinema, The Stoke on Trent Film Theatre shows arthouse and foreign films on tuesday, thursday, friday and saturday evenings. Staffed by volunteers, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, helped by the heavily subsidised bar. The cinema offers a range of films that won't be shown anywhere else in the area, so it's well worth the visit.

Review of Blue Cat
11 Nov 07, 23:18
A Select Crowd
A real labour of love for its owner, the Blue Cat is bringing live music and comedy to Heaton Moor. The drinks prices are high, and there is no admission for under twenty fives, as the bar attempts to include the serious drinkers from the area and attract a more select crowd. This can sometimes lead to rather sparse attendances for performers, but crowds do tend to be interested in what's happening on stage.

Review of Bar Amp
11 Nov 07, 23:10
Spacious and Modern
Bar Amp is currently attempting to bring live music to the area of Sale. Spacious and modern, the bar is definitely a step up from the bog standard indie bars which host most of the gigs in Manchester. Drinks prices are average, and Bar Amp attracts a wide range of punters. Attendance is usually free, so bands can pull in plenty of passing custom.
