It was the place to go a good few years ago, always busy, good music and if like me you were at 6 form (at the time) in the area no doubt you would see everyone you knew!

If you didn't go then you missed out on something special!

Now on the High Street

This H&M has actually now shut down and they have relocated on the High Street although you can still access through The Glades.

It is amazing...shiny and new and exciting!

It is set out really well, and unlike the old H&M in Bromley isn’t a mess of clothes and so cramped and hot you couldn’t move!

There are 2 floors of amazingness!

Good Boots!

This is certainly in the premier league of Boots…its just massive! It sells all the usual stuff you would expect to find in a Boots spread over 3 floors! It’s huge!

It is really good to photographic and also has a fantastic makeup section, there are all the usual high street brands and also designer. So if you fancy treating yourself then pop in and get a makeover and test out some nice makeup

Sticky!

If you love chocolate then this place will be your paradise! It is full of luxurious chocolate in various shapes and flavours…its also presented very nicely and is pretty! It makes a nice prezzie but there is such a big choice you won’t know where to start!

Yum-ming

What a nice Chinese, the menu is great and service is good. It is everything you would expect from a little Chinese restaurant.

We have eaten there a couple of times and had really nice meals.

You have to go just to check out the elaborate carrot decorations on the plates…you’ll see what I mean when you eat there!

Not bad for Becks

I actually really like this bar; it’s fairly newly decorated and much better than before. By day it’s nice to pop in for lunch, the service is good and staff are helpful. Kids are also welcome. By day it is kind of typical of Beckenham…busy and fully of the same young adults making their way around all the bars! It’s not bad and good as a starting place for a night out.

Good location!

This hostel is good for location and the fact you can stay there with a load of mates in one room on the cheap…which is great for a birthday night out in Brighton where you just need somewhere to get changed and perhaps grab 5 minutes sleep! The rooms are ok, décor is basic, the showers and loos work...which is the main thing. The best thing is the location, it is right above Walkabout. We had a good time here and would recommend it if you are going with a big group of mates for a night out of a traveller passing through.

Lovely little restaurant. Been here a couple of times and had a good meal each time. The service is good and atmosphere is cozy. It’s a typical local restaurant with lots of families and birthday meals going on. The food is nice, there is a wide choice of Mexican dishes and various others on the menu to suit all tastes…. so if you’re in the area check it out!

Good DJs

Oh I love this club, it’s amazing! When I lived in Brighton I used to go at least once a week. It’s in a great location, right under the arches on Brighton beach front, so when you come out the club you can sit on the beach and chill out before going home or carry on the party there. The venue is small; there are 2 rooms that usually have different music in for a bit of variety. They have different music on different nights and usually have known DJs down there on a regular basis. Best night ever!

Silly Fun!

This Walkabout is lots of fun. I went on Halloween and it was packed full of people in fancy dress…quite hilarious! The atmosphere is chilled out and fun and there aren’t any trouble makers…which is good! The music is good and you will have a fun night here!

Very Croydon

Typical Walkabout. The venue is the same as all Walkabouts I have been too…lots of wooden floors. The drinks are reasonable and the bar service is fairly speedy considering how busy it gets. The music is good; there are two rooms which makes for a fun night out. It is chavy, but you can still have a good night out.

Venga!

This is a typical tapas restaurant. All the usual dishes are on offer. Have had a few nice meals here, one was lunch and the other was a birthday party with loads of people. The service was good and the atmosphere was buzzing as it was busy both times. I would recommend you try it out as its one of the best tapas in Croydon, but book before you go if it’s at the weekend.

Only good if you are drunk

Unless you are wrecked do not come here. I went here once sober and it was terrible. However the times I have been when tipsy it has been a good laugh. The music is good and it’s quite a giggle. If you grew up in the local area you will bump into everyone you knew from school. Good for a boogie on a little dance floor and a silly late one locally.

A pub pub

Well what can I say, it’s an old mans pub. The drink and food is reasonably priced and the service is good. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is much much older than all other pubs in Becks. There is a garden which is lovely in summer especially for an early evening/lunchtime. I do like this pub as it is exactly what it should be…a pub pub!

Lovely!

This is such a nice Italian restaurant. Been here loads of times and had a lovely meal each time. The food is amazing; there is a good selection and the prices ok... The staff are helpful and the atmosphere is cosy and intimate. It is the perfect place for a romantic meal, family birthday or just a meal out at any time.

Packed Pub

Love this place, its got loads of character and lots of interesting drinks. The only thing I don’t like is how packed it gets…its really popular and gets totally rammed. I have been here lots of times for after work drinks and reserved an area for my birthday a couple of times, which works really well and everyone loves it. They often have live bands that are always good. Just don’t get lost as its all on different levels, its confusing!

Work Drinks!

I like this bar, its perfect for after work. I probably wouldn’t come here if I didn’t work in the area as it is quite obviously a work hangout. It gets busy, but not so busy you can’t get served. The cocktails are yummy and the food is nice. They also reserve tables, so if you are having a birthday or leaving do it’s a good place to go to suit all tastes and reserve an area.

Sausage anyone?

Excellent little pub, I have only been here at lunchtime but it is always packed. It’s lovely in summer when you can stand outside and watch the world go by. It’s a tiny place and you may be put off as its really old small and packed. The service is good and the biggest attraction is the sausages! They service a sausage and pint/soft drink for £5 (I think), but not just any sausage, they are interesting mixes of high quality, such as wild bore, chorizo, lamb and mint…they change regularly. If you are in the area, you MUST give it a try!

Cheap pint anyone?

What a great pub…who could not like The Chandos, the drinks are cheap, the food is good and reasonably priced. If you ever go, make sure you sit upstairs…it’s like a whole new world up there…really comfortable, lots of space and really good service. We often pop in on a Friday lunch and it’s usually busy, but not too busy…having checked out most places in the area, this pub is at the top of the list!

Andalucia

This isnt called Bendinat anymore its called Andalucia. This is a great Tapas restaurant by the Church in Beckenham. Parking is easy, which is always a bonus. The restaurant is quite big and we have had a few birthday parties there. The food is good, all the usual tapas are on offer as well as Spanish main courses. The paella is great and as good as those you get in Spain. The staff are friendly and service is good. Prices are average for the area (not too expensive). It’s a nice place to go for a meal anytime and any occasion. I would recommend it.

Good Cabs

What a great cab company! You can guarantee they will always be there…not necessarily on time but they will be there and pick you up from where ever. As a female I always feel safe with this company and when I have found myself stranded they have always come and rescued me. The drivers are friendly and will wait if you need them too…no stroppy cabbies here! Fab cab firm!

Relaxing!

This is a lovely beauticians…you will come out feeling gorgeous and relaxed!!! This little beauticians is located in Hayes High Street and the perfect place to come for a treatment. The massages are relaxing and the waxes are pain free (well almost). The nail treatments are great, I love the gel nails which are perfect for a special occasion. The staff are also lovely and the prices are average for the area!

Great Pub

What a lovely village pub! This is a great place to go for a drink or a bite to eat and is stunning in summer where you can take your drink outside to the lovely garden or opposite onto the Common. It is very popular and the garden at the back is child friendly. There is also a spot to tie your horse up should you have ridden there! What a lovely pub, I highly recommend checking it out!

What a name!

The best name for a Kebab shop ever! The name is reason enough to go there…Abrakebabra…wicked! The food is good too! All the usual favourites are on offer, the quality of the food is good and there is no fatty unidentifiable meat in this shop! The staff are friendly and quick to serve. I would recommend you give it a try!

I love this library, it is in the most beautiful building next to the church in old Hayes village. The staff are really helpful. It is a good library with a good selection of books, especially as it is quite small. Its also a nice place to sit and read indoors or out and chill out!

This is a good little charity shop, i usually go for books as it is so much better buying second hand rather than new...eco friendly and giving to a good cause. But I also got a good hamster ball here and they do have some good furniture and kids stuff. They also have a furniture shop next door which is good.

Review of Broadway Theatre

Lovey!

You have to love this gem of a theatre in the heart of the not so nice Catford. Its old architecture is beautiful and they show a nice mixture of local plays/shows to more known shows. I have been to Xmas pantomime here...lots of fun! Also its a great place if you are in a local Stage School etc, its a lovely stage to preform on and back stage is large enough for a big cast.

Fun Swim and good gym

I have been to the pool here on lots of occasions, it is perfect if you just want to splash around especially if you have children to entertain. There is a water shoot and wave machine etc which are lots of fun. The changing facilities are good and there is a huge car park. The gym is good and has all the equipment you would expect. Give it a try!

Shop-tastic!

If you love to shop then pay Blue Water a visit! Its huge! and thats the best thing about it, there is every shop you could want all under one roof. lots of places to eat or have a coffee a big food court and a cinema. Parking is easy and it is easy to navigate around. It will take most the day to walk around the whole place, but it is definitely the best shopping center this side of London!

Great Food

Love this Chinese restaurant. I love the name and the food! The atmosphere is great; the restaurant is clean and bright. The staff are fantastic and very helpful. You are guaranteed a good meal every time you go to Yoons! Menu is good and prices are sensible. I would definitely recommend it!

Excellent Instruction

Excellent Instruction This is the best driving school around. The instructors are experienced, professional and very good at teaching; the instruction is clear and well explained. The cars are easy to drive and the lesson is generally a calm stress free experience no matter how bad your driving is! I highly recommend this driving school!

Amazing O'Neills!

This is a great pub, its nice to visit in the day and is very chilled out with outside seating. By night it is lively, there are people of all ages so no one (over the age of 50 ish) would feel out of place. They often have Kareoke/DJs/Bands/big screens for sports. It is open late and does get busy so you could end up queuing to get in on a friday/saturday night. Endless silly drunken nights have been spent here!

Nice Pub

We love this pub, it is amoung my fav in the area to chill out with mates at the weekend or watch sport. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the age group is slighly older/mixed. The food is nice, but quite expensive for what it is. It is clean and the loos are great as there is hand lotion and body sprays in the ladies!

Farm and Farm Shop

Its like stepping back in time, if you want a traditional farm shop then this is the place to come. They have local produce for sale. There is pick your own when fruits are in season and it is also the best place to get an Xmas tree! I love this Farm!

I love this pet shop, it is small and cute and has everything I need to care for my animals. The staff are friendly, helpful and clued up on pets. If you live in the area i would recommend you visit as it is much better than the other pet shops around. They also have rabbits etc...very cute!

Great pub food

This is a really nice pub, its fab for kids or chilling out in. There is a large restaurant and they have a separate bar menu. The garden is huge with an adventure playground. The food is lovely and atmospher friendly. Book before you go if you want to eat at a popular time as it does get booked out.
