Good selection of beer
Went here last night for their pub quiz with some work colleagues which is held every Monday from 7:30pm. We arrived slightly late and had to squeeze into a tiny table (it's held in their upstairs room).
Was really impressed with their selection of beers on tap -- Peroni, Staropramen, the Belgian cherry beer Kriek and the Belgian raspberry beer Frambozen -- amongst other more usual sorts.
Wasn't so impressed with the portion size of the food - we ordered two plates of chips at £2.50 each and both came out with maybe 15 chips on them. So they were lovely tasting and even came with mayo but it was pricey for pub chips. They also sell peanuts and wasabi peas in mugs for £2.50. Mains looked tasty but I neglected to check the prices.

Finally a pub!
We walked from Waterloo, all the way along the Southbank, crossed at Lambeth bridge, and then to the Tate Britain without seeing one pub doing a Sunday roast.
Thankfully my boyfriend remembered this pub just a little way down Millbank and it was serving Roasts!!
The interior seemed impressive and there was a number of tables outside. It was a beautiful Autumn afternoon and sitting inside would have been a great injustice to it so we took our place outside and awaited our late lunch.
The roast looked impressive, good size yorkshire pud, reasonable amount of beef, plenty of roast spuds and some freshly steamed vegies to go with, all topped with gravy. Unfortunately it was a little lukewarm in places and the meat was a bit dried out but otherwise it wasn't too bad. Maybe I have high standards as my Mum is the roast queen.
My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and that looked a lot more impressive, with lovely golden chips and a fresh batch of tartare sauce on the side.
I didn't spend too much time lingering at the bar but I did notice they had Waggledance on tap.. Honey beer! Yum.
All in all, nice place for a pint in the sun.

Too long for food
I went here on Sunday evening having spent a beautiful day up on Alexandra Palace. I was lured with the promise of cheap and tasty Thai food.
Unfortunately we were in a largish group - around 9 or 10 of us... and another large group had just ordered... and there was only 1 chef in the kitchen! They warned us it would be a short wait - which was fine, we had a few drinks and good company. When they said short wait, I thought maybe an hour tops...
1.5 hours later, we hadn't even got starters. We checked with the staff and they brought out our starters with free prawn crackers. 2 hours later and we still hadn't got our mains. Finally the mains started dribbling out and the chef appeared, weary, to apologise for the long wait. We said we had everything but a pad thai. Cue said chef running to the kitchen and the arrival of the possibly freshest pad thai we'd ever seen.
The food was pretty damn good and the prices even better but it was far too long a wait. If they sort out some extra kitchen staff this could be a real gem (or alternatively don't go in big groups)

Love the outdoor deck
Walking through London Fields for the first time after I moved into my new apartment nearby I was attracted like a moth to a lovely looking pub with a large outdoor deck. That I declared, is my new local.
Aside from the deck, it has a good selection of beers, a reasonably friendly clientele and unfortunately, somewhat incompetent bar staff. They just never seem to know who arrived when at the bar. Having said that, if you can get served it's a brilliant pub and I couldn't think of a nicer place to spend a hot Summers afternoon.

I like your old stuff better than your new stuff
I went here a few years earlier with a Belgian friend of mine and although the pub was quite nice with a good selection of Belgian beers, the cooking paled in comparison to proper Belgian food. They even used - shock! - English mayonaise for the chips.
I returned recently and was even less impressed. I wasn't bothered so much by the clientele (more Hackney Hipsters than you can shake a stick at) but the fact that the food was rubbish, service even worse and they have combined the male and female loos in some horrible haphazard way.
I'd go there for a drink but I think there are far better places nearby to eat.
