GBK
I like GBK but not as much as I like Hamburger Union. GBK has great burgers but there’s too much choice and the burgers are too gourmet. I don’t really want pineapple and beetroot on my burger. Whilst you can have any topping you want the choice is baffling and confusing. Also the burgers are too tall and tricky to eat.
I still give it four stars because the standard burger and a couple of standard toppings rock. I suggest you go in there avoid the frills and tuck into a Bacon Cheese Burger with chilli’s and don’t get distracted by the beetroot, blue cheese, carmelized onions and more exotic toppings. Also don’t even think of doubling up – the tower is too high to tackle with a knife and fork.

I honestly think that all burger restaurants aspire to be like GBK and why wouldn’t they? The menu has everything that you would possibly want to put in a burger (within reason), lots of distinctive combinations (beetroot, egg and pineapple anyone?) but at the same time still caters for those who like an original no fuss burger and of course those who wish to opt out of the beef thing altogether.
This branch is not particularly big so probably not good for groups, but it’s the little details that make me enjoy this chain of burger restaurants more, those plastic tomato ketchup holders (which everywhere has nowadays), the way they hold the burger together with a cocktail stick and the delicious milkshakes help too!
