Clapham North

George M. says:
A very wierd place but probably my favourite on the High Street now. Tucked away behind Clapham North Station. Bar/pub/ wine bar/cafe but it works very well. Great place for coffee in the morning and well worth going to at night pre club or just for some nice wine. The staff make it unique with an extensive knowledge of their wines and a willingness to educate if you're interested. Wine tasting is available too on a frequent basis - pick up a flyer at the bar - but seemed a bit pricey to me. £25 per person for four wines no matter how many people.
Great place in all - great staff. Food menu available but not tried it yet.

Awesome place. One of these places that is slowly but surely quietly gathering a loyal following.
A sort of winebar come restaurant come cafe.
Unassuming at first, you may wonder why the reviews have been so good. It covers two floors and is off the beaten high-street track which is both a blessing and a curse. It also looks very small. All this is a slight blessing for those who know about it but probably a curse for those that own it. We get the quiet and all the staff attention as it lacks the foottfall at the moment during the day. That's seems to be changing though especially at night when it is getting increasingly busy.
In a place surrounded by pubs and bars this place based on individuality and a supremely friendly service. It has a great amosphere for both the evening and very chilled during the day.
Great cafe environment in the mornings - a far cry from the bland familiarity of Starbucks - its great for a quiet coffee and a croissant. In the evenings, a really nice place to go for a chilled bottle or two if you're not feeling in a pub mood. It's not a question of house wines - the staff know their stuff and will encourage you to try different and interesting wines and other drinks. (Try the Bretogne Cider). They do offer food but as yet not had any of it so can't vouch for it.
It is just really original. Niche wine, interesting food, random cider and staff that actually seem to know what they are serving.
They do wine tasting courses too which you can either book for the whole course a pricey £300 odd pounds or if your feeling poorer like most people £25 for a night every wednesday.
Just great.

This wine-bar-meets-cafe-meets-off-license-meets-deli has taken over the spot that used to be occupied by Vinifera but has a million times more appeal and atmosphere than that place.
It's the Clapham outpost of an idea that originated in Dulwich and their USP is great wines from small producers so you get loads of things that you won't see anywhere else - like a Pinot Noir from Luxembourg - but although the wine is fantastic, it's not all about the booze.
During the day, it's more of a cafe with organic coffee served with croissants stuffed with Serrano ham and Emmental for breakfast and then, throughout the day, a selection of really delicious things - it's like someone has gone to Borough Market and scooped up a load of the best things - from olives and cornichons to cheese-stuffed chillies, crab meat on chunky bread, and huge platters of cheese, meat, fish or vegetables, all really reasonably priced.
Four of us had a great meal, sharing two bottles of wine and four of their platters, and it only came to £15 a head. Apparently they've just started doing brunches and roasts at weekends and I'm really looking forward to sampling them.
In addition to great food and wine, the staff are lovely - friendly and enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about what they sell.
Top tip: go down on a Tuesday night when all their wine is sold at off license prices. (And, if you don't know your Merlot from your Muscat, they also hold wine tasting classes.)
