Ich habe hunger

4*

Gemma R. says:

If I'm hungry in the Smithfields area, I find it very hard to resist popping into Kurz and Lang. A fiver is pretty good for the amount of food you get, and the wurst are the best (see what I did there?).

At Christmas time, they also sell mulled wine - pleasingly, this is served in takeaway cups so you can take it back to the office and it looks like you've just bought a coffee rather than a cup of steaming hot boozeahol. Result!

An ok lunch

3*

Barak M. says:

For 6 pounds you get a decent sized meal. The sausage gets the job done, but nothing outstanding. Service was nice and quick, though there is limited seating room. More of a take away option. For the price, you can get better in the area.

Some of the finest post fabric dining

4*

Tom H. says:

I love this place. Working in a bar just around the corner until 4 am, can leave one ravenous, especially with the family meal in the bar being served some time around 6pm the previous day. Post shift food in the area is sandwiches or the burgers of tinseltown.

For a fiver you get the choice of sausages (i like the Kaiserwurst, a blend of pork and beef with a seam of cheese melting down the middle), what are described as cubed potatoes, but are in fact chips, sauerkraut and really nice bread. Wash it all down with a diet coke from a glass bottle, and I'm in post shift heaven.

Achtung ein Sausage!

4*

Vlad T. says:

OK. Excellent. Very original German fast food alternative to your typical sandwich bar.

£5 for lunch gets you a wurst (beef or pork sausage) with sauerkraut and diced fried potatoes. Bread rolls are 50 p extra. You can buy beers and other soft drinks. It is simply very tasty. Thats only the set menu you can other things too.

I love this place. Get takeaway or eat on one of the small tables out side (its more angled towards the lunch and takeaway market though)

The currywurst is nice (diced sausage with some curry sauce spread on it.)

Staff are friendly and service is very fast.

Sausage Fest!

4*

Daniel B. says:

I'd been warned away from this place by a few people in my office. They said it was overpriced, and that even if you spent a lot you'd end up being unsatisfied. Well, in the same way that the person in question should clearly stop taking market tips (it's all noise) I'm going to stop taking their advice on where to eat.

I actually really liked Kurz and Lang. For a fiver you get a proper meal. Not just a sandwich and crisps like in a lot of places, but a a large sausage (with different choices each day), a plate of fried potatoes, a healthy portion of sauerkraut, and a bread roll.

I also liked the option to have a glass bottle of coke, both pretentious and environmentally friendly!
