The Chinese food in here is amazing, its not greasy or salty and some of the weird dishes you wouldnt normally chose are worth stepping out of your comfort zone to try. They do alot of fish on the menu too, and you will certainly get stuffed on the noodles.

As others have mentioned, the food is quite authentic and tasty. The environment can get rather cramped on evenings (weekend evenings, especially); which is to be expected considering it's one of the more popular chinese cruisine restaraunts (plus it's in Soho!).
When I ate there, I ate with a few mates, and my family (wife and son). There were a total of 7 of us that night; but we were actually quite fitted and still had room for ourselves (on a busy evening at that). We ended up getting about a dish each; but everything was beyond what you would get from most other places.
I would suggest some of the more routine things if you want a good evaluation of how much difference there is altogether. I recall getting the lemon chicken and it was probably one of the better ones I've had. There was enough zest; but the chicken was still crispy (even though covered in Lemon sauce). Their noodles are very easy to fall into eating as well.
As Elaine has mentioned, expect to pay anywhere from a tenner to about 14-15 pounds for some dishes. The soups are scrumptious and you can't go wrong in picking one that sounds to your taste (because if you have that feeling - you'll most likely enjoy it).

the chinese food here was very authentic and tasty. the service was brilliant and they also packed the food away for us to take away home as we had ordered to much food and it was too nice to throw away! however i did find one of my friends complaining when we went to eat here because there was not enough vegeterian food on the menu. one of my favourite dishes has to be the pipa bean curd!

Mayflower is very popular amongst Chinese/Chinese-British families. This is probably because they offer delicious traditional/authentic cantonese cruisine.
I would say most of the dishes I tried in Mayflower were above expectations, not like the other chinese restaurants, which are very average.
Expect to pay about a tenner for a dish, more on seafood, but you wont be disappointed.
Try their lobsters with egg noodles (might not be on the English menu, but worth asking). It is so far the best dish I had in the restaurant!
Mayflower is definately the place for good, authentic Chinese/Cantonese Cruisine.
